  1. Add this to Basara's crazy exploits as well:
  2. Of course Sheryl has space aids, its what makes her the "galactic fairy." I don't think the shared proportions is much of a problem. After all I have never heard complaints about Kei/Yuri and Rei/Asuka sharing identical proportions and at times clothing. I think the real issue with Janice and April is that there are no clashing features that pop out to viewers at first glance. They have such minor differences in EVERYTHING: long red hair, body shape, and cleavage cut-out clothing that it takes a moment for viewers to register them as different character designs. Unlike the for mentioned anime pairings which have polarizing color schemes and hairstyles that make them instantly recognizable even when paired together in identical clothing and body shape. Can't the same can be said for practically every character designer. I mean they all have their own basic “idolized” gender template with minor tweaks drawn over.
  3. In the "Who Goes There" novel the Thing actually used telekinesis to speak to Garry in a way. In Garry's dreams he implanted visions of his crew finding "something interesting" if they investigated the crashsite area in order for the humans to find and free him from his ice cube in the first place. Plus the Thing was capable of reading the thoughts of everyone around him (infected host or not) so he didn't need to converse with anyone for information. I think its cause its exactly like a spoiled brat on a power trip. It flat out doesn't care what anyone else's motivations are cause it feels enabled to get whatever it wants by assimilation or destruction with no need of compromise.
  4. Prepare yourself mentally by watching "teeth"... just in case Awesome! Its a homage to the original monster from the "Who Goes There" novel that inspired the movie. The movie version seems to definitely be a hivemind of single cells capable of bursting into anything, but its not the case at all with the original novel monster. In the novel the “thing's" true form is the three-eyed, four foot tall alien found frozen in ice. Its cells would only mimic things though a slow trojan horse assimilation process. And then everytime a "Thing" was caught it would revert back to its rubbery 4-foot blue form by default.
  5. Jeez how putting up some spolier alerts next time you comment on future episodes for the new viewers out there, Pete? In the meantime I'll download M7 25 and do a review when I can. Well none of the images of her in the Miss Macross 7 artbook are actually unique, they are all just touched up screen shots from the show. So you really aren't missing out on anything.
  6. The moment your thinking of is actually in Episode 23. Since the M7 was separated from the fleet for roughly 9 episodes (end of Eps 13 to the end of Eps 22) their was a live video conference between all the captains in the fleet. That's when Exedol moans "Protodevlin" and retreats to his hole explaining that "Protodevlin cause Zendtradi to lose their minds and must not be spoken of." Well the two were "really getting to know each other" with that passionate kiss in Episode 23. After all they were both able to magically learn each others name and thhen say while they looked into each other's eyes. Well I guess Sivil could have just learned Basara's name from seeing him on TV while she walked around town, but there is no practical way that Basara would know any of the Protodevlin's by name. Then to top of all off having an alien chick literally explode on you after kissing you is probably a very unforgettable experience on its own. I think its fair to say that Sivil is certainly female in gender and emotionally, but that she is certainly more “alien” in physique then anything ever seen by the Macross 7 fleet or us the audience at this point. Also wanna point out that the fact that Sivil two whole pages in the Miss Macross 7 Artbook must count for something. Its disappointing though that all the most important information about her: bust, waist, hip, and height measurements were all left with question marks. Not yet. At this point in the show only we the audience have seen Sivil's hibernation in the woods after the kiss. At this points its just very obvious to Basera for there to have be no sign of her after she exploded.... literally. Gigil has a big crush on Sivil. He went through what looks to be a somewhat painful process of awakening the sleeping beauty through a huge spiritia energy transfer. Then takes more heat from Gepelnitch for doing so behind his/her back. To top it all off so far at least Gigil has always been a desperate "nice guy" when he is around her and never his usual manic self. Yeah its pretty much impossible to grab those moments unless you can play the video frame by frame. Fortunately this is an easy feature with VLC: 1. In VLC player go to View tab and then click on “advanced interface.” 2. On the far right of this new interface is the “Frame-by-frame” button I always think of him as a "Dumb Focker." As in is the typical macross homage charater that has been twisted in some way. In this case same cocky chauvinistic attiude as Roy Focker, but apparently without Roy's intelligence or success with women.
  7. A few days is more than enough time for bootlegers to put them on DVD a print a dozen copies for ebay.
  8. Were the Australian DVDs released in PAL? If so a mistake in resizing and converting the image to PAL could certainly account for the grain and duller colors. Anyways I did take a moment to get some random sceenshots I took from my Animeigo DVD: http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/5892/vlcsnap2010102819h19m57.png http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/668/vlcsnap2010102819h26m31.png http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2093/vlcsnap2010102819h37m45.png http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2017/vlcsnap2010102819h38m04.png http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/8956/vlcsnap2010102819h38m44.png http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/2815/vlcsnap2010102819h38m55.png
  9. Unfortunately the PS3 only supports the subtle option when its playing a movie disc. So you have to either re-encode the whole file with hard subtitles burned on the video itself or burn it onto a simple DVD-R movie disc. Just remember its completely her own fault for not sleeping with the producer In the mean time contact Martin Perreault and have him organize a *flightsuit* Grace cosplay photoshoot with his girlfriend Bianca Beaucham. Provided you have the money they will be more then happy to fullfill your latex fetish... or so I hear Then of course don't forget to post all the pics in the charater art appreciated thread
  10. Alright Episode 24. Now I could literally could spend hours listing all the neat little nuances, but for the sake of time I really want to point out how some clever inversions between this episode and Episode 8 of SDF Macross for the time being. Specifically I like how Gamlin gets renewed interest from Mylene inadvently simply by showing no interest in her for once. He simple waves his hand and walks away as that “jerk” Basara does all the time. Understandably at the moment he his priority is sorting his emotions out with regards to his comrades both old and new and not chasing after his love interest Mylene. Which is a clear 180 from Hikaru's actions and luck in SDFM 8. In case you don't remember in SDFM 8 Hikaru initially ignored his newly assigned “subordinates” as if they were part of the room. That is until Kakizaki pleaded “Please take us with you leader” and the idea of impressing Minmay entered his head. Naturally it backfires in many hilarious ways and leaves him with a whiny bi...rthday girl demanding a present Anyway anyone got anything else they want to add?
  11. Agreed. Also am I the only one thinks it probably not just be a mere coindence that the next slide they used was of Tobey Maquire as Spiderman?
  12. Get well soon. I too will be downloading quite a few M7 episodes to catch up. I actually had the opposite problem in that I decided to delete and/or destroy all the Anime I downloaded on my harddrive and burnt DVDs as I made it my goal to settle for nothing less then the official DVD/Bluray releases. In this case though I have made an exception until I some how save up a $1000 or so to buy the complete Macross 7 boxset off of Amazon.jp. Speaking of official DVDs though I want to point out that Bandai has actually licensed Turn-A Gundam for a coming release in America so it shouldn't be too long before its gets an official release in Europe as well. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-07-22/bandai-adds-tales-of-the-abyss-turn-a-gundam I will be rewatching eps 23+24 tonight though so I will probably have a review typed up tomorrow.
  13. He wants to repaint, not butcher, it into an "Unforeseen" Crusader battletech. Since toys of such unforseen mecha will mostly likely never get to be offically (re)produced, collecting rare out-of-print battletech toys or modifying Macross toys are the only options for getting such BattleTech mecha.
  14. Such brand recognition drives greater demand in more ways then one. Its not only something that potential licensees profit could from, but its also a celebrity status that licensor's want protected and insured. Cause if things go sour for whatever reason with the licenss then mud could very likely rub off onto the licensor(s) and/or tarnish the franchise's image in general. Of course the point I was making is that since Macross Frontier albums are now backed with the most impressive sales numbers for anime albums of all time they will probably demand far more expensive music licensing fees, no different than the college valedictorians who demand the best and highest paying employment opportunities they can get.
  15. I would imagine that Macross Frontier's musical rights while probably more expensive then most would have been affordable to a number of companies IF they were acquired in an agreement made before its music became the best selling Anime soundtracks in Japan.
  16. If the last review is at episode 23 then I believe that by all means we should start on Episode 24. Starting on episode 30 skips a lot of key points including the season 1 finale at Ep 26 and the game changing sound energy system in Ep 27.
  17. Maybe its a re-edited version of Robotech The Movie that follows Macek's "vision" of splicing SDF Macross footage into Megazone 23 Part 1 Footage after Harmony Gold couldn't acquire Macross DYRL. Then again for all we know though Harmony Gold and Tatsunko could have acquired the international distribution rights to DYRL allowing it to be re-dubbed as a Robotech movie.
  18. This is a very over looked fact. I would also imagine that few at Harmony Gold would be in the loop since the Live Action movie is completely in Warner Brothers hands from the looks of it.
  19. You saying I need to attend Protoculture Addicts Anonymous? A yodelling Macross singer based Slim Whitman! Now that could actually be quite funny to see and hear as long as they were made as a minor character. I believe that Macross and Robotech more or less share the same target demographics of teens to young adults interested in Sci-fi, mecha, jets, animation, etc. Where they diverge though is at the crossroads of nostaglia for either show and the neverending Japanese sub/[insert other language here] Dub issue.
  20. Deliberate of course, hence the quotation marks.
  21. Seto, I speak for all Macross 7 fans you accuse of being masochist when I say sing! ♫ ♫ ♪ ♫ Punch on walls till I bleed, cry myself to sleep like that loser Hibiki. No thanks! That ain't my style. ♫ ♫ ♪ ♫ WAIT. So the biggest self-proclaimed fan of Nanase, the driver of a fine Japanese built automobile model, and the "nuker of gay, unborn space whales FOR LIFE" also likes to read Yaoi Robotech comics? Talk about playing for both teams. On the contrary. This is exactly how Rick Hunter has kept Robotech fans interested for over 25 years: with his pants down. Spoken like a true member of the Tom Bateman "croud."
  22. I'll take a guess that you have the Macross DYRL “Perfect Edition" bootleg by FX because its the only one I know of with English subtitles. For the brightest and cleanest viewing experience of DYRL I would recommend ordering the HD DVD from yesasia.com and viewing it through your TV/DVD setup. Otherwise like all DVD video it will get muddier and darker after it gets converted to be viewed on a computer. http://www.yesasia.com/us/the-super-dimension-fortress-macross-do-you-remember-love-hd-remastered/1005078830-0-0-0-en/info.html
  23. Indeed, it looks just like a polished Shadow Chronicles that was pumped with estrogen pills. Chosing a girly boy band to cover the manly Isao Sasaki verison was the last straw for me. I am so boycotting this new Yamato movie
  24. I am betting they are planning to redub Trigun. 1. Redubing Trigun with their own staff is probably cheaper then buying the expensive rights to the Geneon/Pioneer dub. 2. Funimation probably wants the same English cast to dub the new movie and the TV series so they will tie-in better especially for new fans, who tend to be the ones that listen to dubs anyway.
  25. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs669.snc4/60932_749430164007_22607191_40149422_4595931_n.jpg This picture I just grabbed off of a random facebook album, but I will dig for better shots of AWA security staffers and their UN Spacey shirts if and when I can from the 400 GB of AWA video footage captured on a friend's hard drive. While their is no recording or anything of the conversation I witnessed while I was chilling in the dealers room, their should be plenty to show of the UN Spacy Staff shirts themselves.
