  1. Is this [Macross] a ship of Valkyries? —Q, Star Trek Voyager
  2. Only Once. When he had to play the role of Hikaru in a Macross DYRL TV speciel in Episode 11 of M7. No its the Ridley Scott version. James Cameron only filmed the sequel Aliens. It was Ridley Scott who directed the original Alien with its memorable chest bursting scene.
  3. Thanks, that makes much more sense. I just knew how it was odd how 1. Mylene got all worried after Bobby took left turn at the fork in the road. 2. How fast Basera suddenly realized something was up after they didn't show up for cake. I mean obviously their are plenty of places to eat cake, but It also explains why Bobby was drawn with a dog collar around his neck. The part about "rehearsing" to explain his advances to Mylene is obviously a throw back to Minmay's line about "it just being acting" before she makes about without Hikaru, and when I went back to that moment in DYRL I noticed that Minmay also had a collar on. So hand it to the Macross crew to make it work on so many levels...
  4. The first OVA of Macross Plus, that premired a month before M7, was the first to make the DYRL prefrance clear unless you count Mac II. Right from the beginning Mac Plus shows Isamu with his DYRL-style sholder pads fighting Zentradi battle suits that look very reminscent of the DYRL-style Nousjadeul-Ger. Mac Plus not only used the DYRL combat mecha, but the civilian mecha as well with their futurisitic car styles. Mac + also kept the Macross "armed" with the ARMD Space Carriors over the Promethus and Daedulus aircraft carriers from SDF. Also wanted to add that while I was checking this I noticed someone very interesting at the Sharon Concert crowd... ♫Its Shoji Kawamori Gendo!♫ ...with his Space Vampire pal Keel Lorenz! Of course, give it to the Macross crew to make it work on so many levels...
  5. I am betting it would start out like the Apollonius and Celiane love story from Kawamori's Genesis of Aquarion, minus the supernatural themes.
  6. Well I first noticed it at the end of episode 36 when the Protoculture ruins rise up with those strobe light effects. I have been taking another look and I believe it may be due to my old computers having a slow video card. The horizontal line only show up only in motion shots in the H264 videos, but play seamlessly from the DVD footage. Unfortantely I deleted most of my encodes thinking they were faulty and I am busy today maybe tomorrow I will restart the batch.
  7. I would go with the hypothetical Alien Nibru Invasion scenario of 2012 and have the aliens from Nibiru turn out to be the giants of Nevilliam of Biblical tales. That way in 2013 Nibiru actors can be hired to accurately portray Zentradi in a Live action reboot of the Macross series followed by the movies Macross DYRL and Macross: The Plan, which will chronicle the events directly from the Zentradi perspective. It would also be an awesome case of our reality catching up to the science fiction of Macross. I would like to see that and more UN Spacey mecha versus Zentradi foot soldiers in trench, hallway, and hand-to-hand combat. Absolutely. Just listening to "My Frak friend is a pilot", "Its my time to be a Pornstar", and "Zero G-strings" just wasn't enough, the music should have been synced to action sequences that actually fit the lyrics. The only question is do I cast Lindsey Lohan as Minmay or Misa for my LAM? No wait Of course! I will just cast her as both characters, she has played as twins before after all. Besides no Macross Love triangles has involved twins yet, and everything is better with twins as they say. I also say why stop at Minmay? I say put more Frak'n sex in the whole show. - Rather then have couples Hikaru/Misa, Kaifun/Minmay, and Max/Milia simply stop at First Base in their demonstrations of culture, have them go for Home runs. - As his name impies have Max be the characteristic genius who somehow ends up in huge orgies that would make Roy envious, until he becomes attracted to Caprica Miria Clone 6 and her sexy red dress of course. - Have UN Spacey Engineers find a way to reprogram Macronization chambers to only enlarge certain body parts as a more natural alternative to plastic surgery. - And of course add a lot more Daedalus attacks, causes its the best mecha porn ever.
  8. The "end" just means the final episode. Its just saying the DVD has all the episodes from beginning to end. Also as Gubba pointed out they are all bootlegs. 1. Wording like "No Region Coding - Playable in ALL Regions" which all the Ebay sellers have used is a dead give away of bootlegs. All official DVDs are encoded for that one region where they are Distrubited. 2. Official distributors never compress an entire 26 Episode anime series into a single DVD to sell for $20. 3. In Frontier's case the only real DVDs are Japanese R2 which cost $70 a DVD and contain only 3 episodes a disc. Which you can actually order though through Amazon Japan: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9E%E3%82%AF...0217&sr=8-4
  9. Ep 49 and the movie are done and ready. Encore has an hour left on the encoder, then I just need to split it up into the 3 separate OVAs. The thing is though do the VIP mkvs suffer from small Horizontal lines that occasionally appear at the top of the screen when their is a lot of movement, GGemini? Cause I found all my encodes do and I have been trying to find a practical way to remove them for the past 2 days.
  10. Well unfortunately I am very behind on my M7 schdedule thanks to things like computer viruses, new projects coming up, etc. I can start with 49, encore, movie, dynamite first thing tomorrow though and have it ready soon. Any recommendations on a convenient place to upload them when I am done though?
  11. Anyone interested in High Quality MKVs of M7? I just figured out how to make MKVs with the same subtitle and audio streams, heck even the chapter markers that use in VLC as the DVD video files. The only difference is that the video has been encoded into h264 so they take up a lot less space, but still look every bit as great as the original. Since I divided up the work between two computers it shouldn't take long to put everything onto MKV.
  12. I believe it could have well been a terraformed Mars. In the last episode of SDF Macross Kamjin's ship uproots mountains and amazon rainforests that it was buried under as a testament to just how well the UN had repaired the decimated earth in such a short time. So its very concivable that they terraformed Mars into a habitable planet in a short time. Also I don't think holographs and large enclosures could explain away the layers of clouds and atmosphere that jets flew though in Top Gamlin. EDIT: While Gamlin was training under Milia it was obviously while attached to the M7 Fleet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c5YbaKenUw#t=1m14s As for the final test, it looks like its on a Jupiter like planet. The funeral could have been on Mars though as their was obviously an atmosphere and clouds for the two jets to fly though.
  13. It didn't occur to me that Basera's music could also turn alien lesbians into bi-sexuals. This needs to be added to the top of the list of why Fire Bomer rocks and used in more pro-M7 arguements from now on. I know Queadluun-Raus can be used by anyone. I assume the Pink Pecker Squad was formed with the notion they would be fighting againist enemy Meltrans exclusively in their area though. No straight man would want to name their squad the pink peckers for combat against male Zentradi. Well both the TV and DYRL types of Zentradi exist in the continuity so I would figure both verisions of Queadluun-Rau probably exist as well.
  14. Correction. Kinryu actually fought in the Pink Pecker Squad as well! So the squad was really one pink pecker, who died, and two black anacondas! Its no wonder Akiko often hung out with the Squadron in her younger days. Also look at the uncanny similarities between Ray's buddy Stephan and Gamlin. It reminds of how in the M7 Plus Video "Top Gamlin" it shows young Gamlin at a funeral watching two fighter jets shoot up into the "Heavens" moments after the reveand says "We send him to join you in your Heavenly world, in the name of the lard Amen." I think perhaps Gamlin could be related to Stephan and thus the funeral was Stephan's where he saw I am assuming Ray and Kinry, his future captain, see off into their friend into the heavens with their fighters. Not only is there name absoultely hilarious, but just think of what should have happened to those "Pink Peckers" who found themselves deep behind female Meltrandi lines... I quess the Pink Peckers just didn't figure that the blue Queadluun-Raus are probably for the manly lesbian Meltrandies. The writers obviously knew, just listen to Mylene's "Pink Pecker...!?" reaction. Too bad they don't show Mylene's face though because it was in the middle of the Pink Pecker Squad flashbacks.
  15. He was actually a regular for two seasons of Baywatch: Hawaii for three years before joining Stargate Atlantis...
  16. Install MKV Toolnix to use under OGM cleaver. OGM cleaver is the tool of choice for spliting OGMs and MKVs. Am I the only one who finds it hiliariously ironic that its Ray, the one black guy in the Pink Squadron squadron that doesn't have a ahh pink pecker that survives? On a more serious note, I liked how after Ray went off to pick up Basera's Valk from his buddies at that secret hanger entrance out in the wood he gets scolding from Basera for pushing himself while wounded. Not only does it show how caring that Basera is at heart, but just how much a like he and Mylene, who is the one usually doing the scolding, really are.
  17. IMO Mariusz would make a much better Conan villain. Its the hero who most always be the underdog overcoming challenges and obstacles. With the biggest buffest guy as the hero their isn't anyone of a threat that can realistically challenge him on a one on one fight. Remember just how ridiculous it was to have lean little Steven Brand be this overwhelming physical threat to the Rock in the Scorpian King movie?
  18. She would probably just laugh if she ever found out, but I doubt she would ever be bothered by it. I also find it silly to single out Robotech for critizicism when Macross had no probelm showing her imaginary charater naked in a shower or slapping her across the face for the sake of a dramatic effect before Carl Maceke ever released Robotech. Alot of the "poor business stragieiges" done by ADV and every US Licensing marketing is due to things beyond their control unfortantly. Back in 1985 Robotech enjoyed being broadcasted partly censored all over America on Saturday mornings, a merchandising campaign for Robotech toys on primetime TV thanks to a partnership with Revell, and had only VCR recordings and tape sharing to worry about lossing sales over. Alot of things have changed in 25 years and its not that US Licensing companies are so stupid they decided to broadcast their mature Anime titles on Sunday mornings at 1:00am on Adult Swim instead of following Robotech's what 8/9 am Satuday mornings on syndicated channels like NBC. With today's broadcast standards the uncensered, Minmay nudity included, Robotech remastered episodes would have to have the a late night time slot away from the eyes of alot of causal viewers who go to bed early. Still its easy for Macek to spin Robotech as a phenomal success over today's anime when they can never reap half the benefits Robotech did back in 1985.
  19. Thanks, something told me it would "enjoy a greater then 90 percent approval rating." You will probably also love the news that I got more in the works and I hope to find the time to have them done and posted up on the charater art thread this weekend. Also did you ever hunt down that My Soul Accustic instrumental track? If you want I can rip it from Episode 21, where its used without any background noise.
  20. Indeed. Macross 8: Fleet of the The Sharpest Knives...
  21. I am all for it as well, but only until drinking milk from giant Meltrandi and song idols clad in hippo cow-spotted swimsuits like its still 2009 in doujin land becomes a viable alternative I don't believe Marj was interested in putting Myung's soul into Sharon. I think he just wanted to play god and hoped to find Sharon as an artificial soul mate. I mean the guy obesses over the soul being seprate from the body, is emotionless around flesh and blood human beings, but gets off of feeling up the Sharon monolith, and was all too eager to lay off/and or kill Myung once Sharon was able to go solo. If he just wanted Myung's soul he would probably just go after Myung, I mean if he is the type of guy that can be turned on by a computer box I don't think Myung's looks were any issue. Using Myung was just another necessary step for giving his creation human emotions and without them Sharon would be just another soulless computer program. Considering how Mari turned out, this explains why nature intended for Max and Milia to father only girls.
  22. Yeah for all we know the artifical gravity aboard the SDF-1 is stronger then earth's making everyone heavier according to the scales on board. In reality this would make a great defense against the Zentradi as even under earth's gravity any invading giant would be crushed by their own weight unless they were bones were extrememly lightweight like the dinosaurs, which isn't the case if Kamilla's dense baby bones is apparently the norm. Or, its just another case of in a long list of messed up weights that were arbiltraily chosen for something imaginary.
  23. What! Well we can't kick you out just yet... Veffidas needs another skull to practice drumming on. So get to the back of the M7 fanbus with Captain Donavan! I wouldn't exactly label Alice a steryl version of Sheryl. Sheryl may dress and shake her booty like a stripper, but everything about Alice Holiday from her name to her appearance screams washed out pornstar to me... The Protodevlin always used modified Zentradi and UN Spacey hardware from that captured research fleet that awakened them on Hoth Varuta. Don't forget that around the time of Macross Plus, 5 years prior to M7 the UN Spacey was in the middle of several projects directly involved with Nero-Science: 1. Sharon Apple: 2. Ghost V9: 3. VF-21 Thinking cap system: My theory is that the spiritual energy manifests itself in the "Super Dimension" of the fold. If the "vanished" Fold drive on the SDF can draw on Fold energy to create the pinpoint barrier in our dimension, then the reverse should be possible as well. The "Super Dimension" should be able to draw energy from our dimension: song and spiritual energies. Normally when people sing the spirita energy goes straght to the fold dimension as Spirita energy which we can't feel, think of how the Meltradanti were completely unphased when blasted by Basera and Mylene's sound energy blasts in "The Fleet of the Strongest Women." Protodevilin and Chibi's sound energy detector are affected by Basera's singing with or without the sound booster because they are sensitive the song energy traveling through the fold: Protodelvilin were beings of pure energy from the fold, and as Chibia told Max "I will have to make modifications to Battle 7s Fold Communications system in order for my song energy detector to work." I also believe that Spirita and Fold energy are one and same and that neither is created nor destroyed it merely passes dimensions. This is where Chiba's Sound Boosters come in, when the user's Sound Energy reaches at least 10,000 Chiba units (Its over 9,000! ) the sound boosters activate and to quote the lycis of planet dance "Take back this forgetten energy" of energy from the fold stream and feed it back to our dimesnion.
  24. I believe I know why this effects happens and that this was intended by the writers: - It comes off as the most over used song in the first half of the series and literally "annoys" and "tortures" viewers at times. -Fans are relieved once Holy Lonely Night appears its use goes downhill and even has a 3 episode vacation towards the end of the series... - Then after having a break we are are treated to Planet Dance one last time sung by someone other then Basara for a change which really cements M7 fans love to Planet Dance during this fantastic emotional scene IMO. In my case, having watched only the 2nd half of M7 in my first viewing I can honestly say that if your not intimate with where the show and charaters actually began and how they changed then most if not all the intended signifcance and emotional impact about this last performance of Planet Dance will go right over head and the scene will come across as just ordinary filler before the climatic battle and not the memorial emotionally charged scene it was intended to be. Sure with the lyrics everyone logically deduces why the show inserted Planet Dance over any other song, but all that gripping emotional energy that the show slowly builds up since Episode 1 to this particular Planet Dance moment is "♫a forgotten energy♫" to everyone, but M7 fans who are of course intimate with the show and its characters from the beginning. Creating a moment that leaves M7 Fans emotionally pumped over Planet Dance while non-M7 fans are just feeling relieved that the show is almost over if they ever watch the final episode. Also to sum things up every good writer knows that the opening scene will set the tone of their book, show, movie, whatever. As the first M7 song and Firebombers opening act it sets the spiritual tone of the series. So its only natural that to be a fan of Macross 7 you have to be a fan of Planet Dance as well.
  25. Now that I think about it I can definetly see Basara and crew as an inspiration for the charaters of Cowboy Bepop. Basera and Spike both have that simple lazy air about them that hides their true nature. I just finished watching Episode 49 the other day I have felt both feelings during this viewing of M7. When I first saw M7 on Veoh half of the show had been removed . So one minute I am watching episode 1, the next I am watching the second half of episode 27 and realizing why M7 is the G Gundam of Macross. So it was exciting to see what all I had missed for the first time up to episode 27. Then it was anticipation for the epic moments that were just as if not more so moving the second time moving. Hell, I think I've been coming down with Macross 7 fever as well as I find myself replaying parts of the final episode just about every hour, looking for any excuse to post M7 vids on facebook, and find myself singing "Planet Dance" which I used to consider the most obnoxious song in all Macross 7.
