  1. - Ghost Train I never said anything about diversity of the planet being caused by aliens or anything being caused by aliens. Diversity does happen naturally, but it is very gradual unlike the vast split from Homo Sapiens and neanderthals. You known just watch Lloyd Pyes "Human Origins : Intervention Theory" on youtube to see for yourself Well unfortunately, your talking to a bunch of us nerds who get worked up over legal disputes to frakin 80s anime so...
  2. -Ghost Train I understood that Mitochondiral Eve was theoretical and not just a single woman that is why I mentioned them as "Mitochondrial Eves" as plural. What I am getting at though is that the Mitochrodiral Eve is just a BS theory to dodge the issue as to how or why modern humans with only 46 chromosomes showed up in the first place about 250,000 years. My issue is that how did the "population of normal humans with lots of females and males with 46 chromosomes ever be born to the exist in the first place from a populations of humans with 48 chromosomes? How would you explain how humans went through this so called "evolutionary" transformation of losing 2 whole chromosomes of DNA yet at the same time gain a more developed throat capable of complex speech, a brain with 4 times the surface area, and as I mentioned before 2,200 volatile genes not found in other primates, while all the other primates on earth have kept their 48 chromosomes and are practically the same as now as they were 250,000 years ago when modern humans emerged?
  3. As Claudia would probably say: Quit weeping Misa! Did you really expect that chevonist to listen to your suggestion to move out of the way of the main gun in the first place?
  4. I will point out that I was giving Vepariga, who was interested in the matter, my opinion and not trying to waste my time converting Macross World users into UFO believers. Honestly I can't even convince my own family the hazards of fluride, a well documented industrial waste, in their drinking water so I know its pointless to convince people I don't even know on the internet about UFOs. If your really interested in hard evidence though here you go. The "Alien Baby" (which has been my avatar for quite awhile) from Mexico which was found to have characteristics of lizards and humans, but inconclusive DNA results due to decay. http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/bild-english/...-be-solved.html The "Star Child" Skull which while found to have human mitochondrial DNA from a mother, its father's DNA is inconclusive and it has far too many differences in its structure to simply be labeled a product of a birth defect. Now crazy as the notion of Alien genetic manipulation of early man sounds their is very compelling evidence for it. Consider the Mitochondrial Eve theory. Supposedly about 250,000 years ago modern man were born from our most recent common ancestors the Mitochondiral Eves in Africa. What science hasn't adequately explained is how or why modern humans suddenly become are so vastly different as a result of a drastic change in chromosomes. For one humans have 46 chromosomes while all other primates have 48 chromosomes and nature probably wouldn't even consider just dropping two whole chromosomes with all that vital DNA strands in them. According to researchers the chromosomes weren't lost, instead mitochondrial Eves in Africa were born with not one, but two centric fusions resulting in 46 chromosomes as an evolution. Which makes absolutely ZERO evolutionary sense when you consider tht newborns in every animal that has a single chromosome off plus or minus is born has birth defects, is infertile, and will die an early death as mother nature's cruel but effective way to prevent future generations of offspring from being defective. Yet scientists tell us that somehow a Mitochondrial Eve with two less chromosomes mated with male primates still possessing 48 chromosomes and gave birth to healthy fertile children that inherited 46 chromosomes and become our common ancestors. Scientifically speaking this scenario is absolutely impossible! Why? Mitochrondial eve's eggs would have 23 chomosomes due to chromosome division and be very incompatible with all her mates who possessed 24 chromosomes in their sperm. Sure she could bear some children, but they would all have 47 chromosomes and suffer from Down Syndrome and very few of them would be fertile. While Down Syndrome does happen today, by no means would our primal ancestors thrive and reproduce if they all suffered from Down Sydrome. In short any man or woman missing a chromosome or two would not be an "evolution," but a genetic defect that should have had no offspring according to mother nature. Yet somehow our common ancestors emerged from South Africa with 46 chromosomes, their was a huge price to this though. When the National Human Genome Research Institute researchers finished mapping the human genome back in 2003 they found that humans have only around 25,000 individual genes, barely more then a tapeworm that has 20,000 and much smaller then the genomes of other complex animals that have 65,000 to 100,000 genes. Despite the fact that our bodies have a much smaller number of genes to work with our genes are more volatile and subject to mutations then other primates: Believe what you want Taksraven, but personally I believe the crazy theory that aliens with 46 chromosomes genetically fused chromosomes in human embryos to have 23 chromosome to be compatible with their sperm for creating alien-human hybrids as workers to mine valuable resources all over the globe sounds a bit more scientifically plausible then natural human evolution dropping or fusing two perfectly good chromosomes in males and females, leak 10s of thousands of primate genes from the gene pool, and create over 2,200 unique and volatile genes found in no other animal on the planet in one single abrupt evolutionary cycle. Now as for the Pyramid talk guys that you guys got all excited about I am going to have to burst your bubble with the simple truth: Big stone blocks can easily be moved utilizing nothing more then physics and wooden planks. http://www.theforgottentechnology.com/newpage1.
  5. Google Prof. David Jacobs and /or checkout his book "The Threat: What The Aliens Really Want And How They Plan To Get It." He has been studying alien abductions for over 30 years and his hypothesis is that the grey aliens that have been abducting people in recent decades are breeding alien-human hyrbids for plans to intergrate them into our society. Many UFO researchers almost unanimously support this notion of alien-human hybridization, to them the biggest questions to them is what does this hybridization program mean for "us" purebred humans and is this part of an evil invasion agenda or are the aliens simply a desperate and dying race? Several have even suggested that the aliens are the anti-christ that will brings about the end of the world as written in the Bible's Book of Revelations. Personally I don't believe the aliens are evil demons out to destroy or conquer humanity. I think its more like the aliens view us as we do animals due to the huge gap in how we communicate and understand each other. We for instance think little of conducting experiments, tagging animals, and even harvesting animals for own gain and survival because we can't communicate and interact with them as we do fellow humans. On the hand those same actions done to humans are often labeled unethical, illegal, etc, Just look at things from the greys perspective. The universal description of these aliens has been that they have zero genitalla, and void of emotion, and communicate solely though telepathically. On top of that many are observed to be extremely short with frail looking bodies as they rely on passively incapacitating humans with their apparent mental abilities rather then seizing us violently with physical or lethal force. Think of how they probably fear and misunderstand us humans, who are very emotional, sexual, and violent in nature. We not only revel in watching movies, shows, and porno that play off of your primal violent instincts, but we find excuses to renact those very same acts in our lifes with the people we argue with, fights with, sleep with, and the nations we go to war with each and everyday. To the aliens that apparently communicate telepathy and seem to have little or no conflict from misunderstanding or difference of opioun we are probably viewed as violent primal beasts. So they probably feel justified tagging and experimenting with us with out our voluntarily permission, just as we tranquilize and put tracers on wild tigers and sharks without their permission. I believe we have more to fear from the alien hybrids. The aliens maybe dying from lack of natural reproduction, but how are they rasing their half-human offspring who will apparently be entrusted with the future? I mean if they are half human they will surely have just as much capacity as we do for good and evil. I am sure we will be glad to meet nice Gondi and Mother Teresa type hybrids, but what do we do if we have Hitler's and rapists with inherited alien technology and paralyzing mind powers? I hate to make a lame otaku reference, but it sounds like being a normal person in Gundam, powerless to do nothing, but befriend or order around a newtype to fight off that terrifying newtypes you have no hope of fighting yourself.
  6. Voltron combined two series and I believe they even edited togehter an episode where the Go-Lion team crossovers over in the Vechicle Voltron half edited from Dairugger XV footage. It may have just been a flashback or something, but they did tie-in the two shows together in a similar vein as the Robotech Sagas were done. Plus, WEP has had legal issues of their own when they created Votlron 3D on their own without any of the derivative rights and they have also sold their movie rights to WB for a live action movie as well.
  7. I wasn't trying to critize Star Blazers I was just agreeing with Wanzerfan that the defined "Macekring" of anime has been around before Carl Macek did Robotech.
  8. Star Blazers wasn't nearly as faithfull to the orginial Yamato as many nostaglic fans remember it and took many liberties in rearranging and rewriting lines away from their original intent in the name of censorship and making the show more "appropriate" for kids.
  9. Of course, as one of the few moments in my life where I was geuninely scared for my life its a night that I will never forget. It was October 7th 2005, the first Friday night of that October and I went to bed to around 11 pm after taking my contacts out. I don't remember how long I was actually in my bed but in what felt like a very short I just felt this presence and I wake up to find myself paralyzed staring at this dark figure standing in the hallway. All I could move was eyes and my whole body felt completely numb. In the hallway all I could see was this dark silhoute with this bright surreal purple glow illuminating the entire hallway behind him. I tried to jump out of bed to attack this intruder, but not only was I paraylzed I also felt as if the alien was telepathcially taunting me as their was this faint mental voice repeating things like "It's helpless, you can't even move your body." As he walked into my room I noticed that their were 3 more of them behind him moving to surround me, since my bed was in the corner of my room though they had to stand in pairs in front of me and to my left rather then surround the bed on all 4 sides like they were apparently planning. I was eying the two that was waling closet to me as they approached the left side of my bed and they appeared to be no bigger then 5 feet 7. Their slender bodies won't appear physically imposing on their own, but seeing these jet black silhoutes contrasted by these glowing white eyes I couldn't help but, fear they were demons that had come to kill me. The first alien was standing to my left and he leaned over to get right in my face and I could see that the unnaturally blackness of their bodies contrasted againist their glowing white eyes was clearly an artificial suit and mask. I coundn't see the aliens actual eyes, but I could see close up that his oval "eyes" were really tinted lenses with a dozen tiny LEDs or almost want to say neon headlights shining around the inner edges of his. After staring eye to eye with this alien for a few moments I suddenly went blind and everything went dark. There was no painful flash or anything, it was more like eye to eye contact or some alien mind trick had just triggered my brain to not register any sight . I was still concious and self-aware but my vision was pitch black and I felt like I was being levitated up in the air. Then the next thing I know I feel a cold pair of arms lift me up and just kind of drop me from what felt like a foot or two above my bed and I am fast asleep. The afternoon sun woke me up and I found myself shivering in the fetal position in my bed shirtless with my shirt and blankets. That is when it really shook me that my experience could have been more then just a waking dream or nightmare. I don't remember anything aboard a UFO and I haven't had any X-rays to look for alien implants or anything of that nature though.
  10. Oh yeah nothing beats "Fire in the Sky." Alot of people look at me as if I am crazy when I say this, but I did have a Close Encounter of the Forth Kind of my own years ago and the aliens I saw wore bodysuits similar to the aliens in "Fire in the Sky". Instead of the familiar gray though0 they were jet black and the slanted eyes had this eerie white glow to them, but once one of them got really close and in my face I could clearly see that it was an artificial lens embedded with LEDs for night vision and in my case induce temporary blindness and make me black out.
  11. You forget to mention an important fact with your Robotech Novel quotes: The novels are always better then the movies!
  12. Well re-considering that almost all the Entertainment news artlicles have cited that Tobey Maquire acquired the rights to his own studio and that Warner Bros will be producing it seems like Tobey is the rich Robotech fan who bought the movie rights and struck a deal with WB Studio to produce it. Sorta like how Steven Speilburg acquired movie rights to Ghost in the Shell which he admits is "one of his favorite stories" with his own money and then gave it to Dreamworks (which he owns a third of) to produce 3D movie. In Tobey's case his studio company Maguire Entertainment probably isn't capable of producing Robotech all on their own meanwhile WB Execs were curious for something to follow Transformers lead, so they meet and end up with a joint-production deal. Chances are the guys at WB aren't anime fans and mecha franchises were a complete unknown to them.
  13. SDF Macross is a space opera so by default Robotech: THe Macross Saga is a space opera as well. As for the Robotech Live-Action moive its script isn't even done yet so their is no way to tell yet if it will even turn out to be a space opera or a Sci-Fi action adventure flick if its ever made. Personally I am betting Sci-Fi action adventure flick, for one the Love Triangle plot would likely bring issues and also Hollywood just doesn't do Space Operas.
  14. Amazon also updates their sale rankings every hour. For instance when Gubba posted Robotech Protoculture Collection was #10,297, now its listed as #12,639. The Amazon sales ranking is just a ploy to show to consumers what other people have been buying recently and is constantly changing depending on who buys what. Its by no means an accurate source to determine what has more successful sales.
  15. No Western Influcnce in Macross are you crazy? I could go on about how Noboru Isburu absolutely loved San Franciscos and how Shouji Kawamori watched F-14s take off from American carriers stationed in Japan during college breaks. Honestly I absolutely hate it when otaku state that "Western Influence" kills anime, as if to imply that creating anime is a sacred privilege to asians cause Westerners are just uncool or something. I know they mean to say they hate it when anime creators feeling pressured to make big changes to their show to appeal to western audiences in American and Europe. Resorting to terms "Western Influcence" though seems to imply that we Westerners are ruining the anime simply because we are Westerns and we exist. I also have to say that the right kind of Western Influcence such as the San Francisco in Frontier, the Hollywood ship in Macross 7, and all the foriegn languages heard in the paning shots of Macross city in Macross DYRL only help the series. One of the main premises of Macross is that race, gender, etc don't matter and that behind all those superficial labels what we define as "humanity" and "emotions" is universal. To say that Western Influcence has no place in a series like Macross that highlights this very notion of humanity being universal in every individual is just absurd. Just prove to Pam that the beachs in Poland are awesome, and that polish guys obviously have nice poles and she'll fly to see you in Poland in a heartbeat. Then you can create a sex tape and have it allegedly leaked without your knowledge to the interwebs with the name "RobotechXXX: Super Dimensional Fokkers." Now if you hurry and make the tape now you and Pam could become a "western influence" to those korean animators and have a reference in Shadow Rising.
  16. Well I do think that if HG were to go bankrupt tomorrow Tobey would still have the exclusive movie rights to Robotech that he bought from HG so WB could probably be able to reimagine RLAM HG or not. Remember how Fox announced that they would recreate a new Fantastic Four movie before their their Fantastic Four movie rights could expire right after Disney bought Marvel? HG going out of business could just make the RLAM happen sooner. As for Harmony Gold's immediate survival I bet they depend on how those undisclosed deals turn out. If they put as much effort as their real estates deals as they did the Robotech sequels then their days are numbered .
  17. Your point is well taken that Transformers has always been marketed to kids with all their countles reinvented toylines unlike HG who has relied exclusively on grown up fans who saw the show as kids and became hooked for life. I think its likely the WB execs sees Robotech as Transformers less popular cousin. WB knowns that Batman is the most well known superhero in the world simply because he has had the most media interpretions shown to generations of kids, so it should be a given for them why Transformers became popular while Robotech remains a "cult classic" despite appearing as near identical franchises to most people. Then again many toy collectors who grew up from the 80s are Transformers and Macross/Robotech fans, just look at the demand for G1 Jet Fires. Again I don't know what exactly is going through WB's mind, but to me Robotech seems like an obvious choice to compete with Paramount's Bayformers in the movie theaters and on toystore shelves. I also want to argue that WB was proabably aware of the legal situation when they first signed on. I myself forget until now that it was actually Maquire Entertainment that bought the Robotech movie rights from Harmony Gold. Once Maquire bought the rights all the movie rights they should the lack of derivative rights to the orginial designs should have been in plain sight for WB to see. Such limitations aren't unreasonable for movie studios though. Paramount was well aware that all the previous designs for Transformers from Japanese designers were off limits when they bought the rights to Transformers from Hasbro. So Michael Bay instead paid Industrial Light and Magic millions of dollars to design Original Transformers loosely inspired by G1 that could fit into GM sponsored vehicles. If WB is serious about turning Robotech into a blockbuster movie they shouldn't be bothered by not having access to the original design when they have the resources to hire creative talent and were probably planing to modernizing Robotech like Batman or Iron Man anyways. As far as the scripts themselves go running through 3 writers at this point tells me that WB could be very serious with this project. Consider for instance that with the Dragonball adaption Fox actually sat on the Dragonball rights for 2 whole years before even hiring Ben Ramsey to write a DragonBall Z (Yes a DBZ script), only to have the newly assigned director James Wong spend a year rewriting the DBZ into a DragonBall Script cause he was a DB fan. In any case Dragonball Evoultion had one crappy wrtier assigned to it for 3 years, but Iron Man for instance actually had FIVE assigned scriptwriters spend 3 years working on the script before Paramount decided to film the movie with improvised dialogue. The script for WB's own Batman Begins was six years in the making before any production and filming was started in 2003 with the sequel TDK already in mind as Bale was signed on for only two Batman movies. Naturally if rumors are true that WB is considering a RLAM trilogy then its no surprise that it will take a very long time to and multple revisions before they reach a final script with or without derivative rights to the original source material.
  18. Certainly WB didn't want RT just because of TSC, but the thing is that TSC wasn't just a cheap anime movie it was really just another opportunity to market repackaged and overpriced Mosepeda toys to diehard Robotech fans. As big as Bayformers was in the boxoffice it actually made much more money through the Bayformer's toyline so if WB is really looking for an 80's franchise to compete with Transformers they need the merchandising and the mecha. For all the legal problems HG has with Robotech we know that selling Robotech toys is certainly not one of them and that selling Robotech toys have been profitable for them ever since they bought Tatsunko's merchandising rights. If anything TSC just showed WB that the Robotech toy market was still alvie and profitable compared to other mecha franchises like Voltron, Go-Bots, and Exo-Squad that have had no recent success with merchadise. That's my opinion anyways, that WB bought Robotech mainly because of its proven success with merchandise in a time when studios had already acquired more successful franchises like Transformers and GI Joe, and that Hollywood is freaking out over consumers downloading every movie for free.
  19. Macross Frontier? Lies! It doesn't exist. Anime only exists IF AND WHEN its on my HD... In other words Big West only made DYRL, Zero, and 4 episodes of Macross 7, Tatsunko only made Gatchaman the Movie, and Harmony Gold never released ANYTHING Robotech. . So you see Gubba, all those anime you find on the interwebs aren't real unless of course its downloaded to my Sacred HD. In other words all the anime in the world has to be <= 1.36 Terebytes and their just isn't enough room in the world my HD for Robotech, or your favorite anime [insert name here] for that matter. UNLESS of course you ship me DVDs/Bluray (High Quality R2's preferred and no Bootlegs) of said "imaginary" anime along with a check. Its only a one time charge of $1000 per gig storage fee or $5000 if you want me to make the anime storage permanant for a lifetime. You guys can can just deposit the Anime discs and checks to my "Black Mailbox" that its just off of HWY 375 near Groom Lake. If you come down with any Robotech discs though, I will not take any responsibility or feel any remorse if the armed military guards in the area gun you down. P.S. If you can't tell for sure I am being sarcastic come down to Area 51 to ask me in person and just ignore the scary armed guards. Will he shout "I'll get you yet Rick Hunter!" like Briatai did in the 80's toy commericals or will he just be another craopy voiced over by Kevin McKeever?
  20. Trust me I know I am considering getting a degree in Computer Science myself , if I can get through these boring Calculus and Science labs in college that is. Nah, its just your mind is just in the gutter all the time cause you obviously have no problem finding interesting T&A avatars on google Ah man only reprints! Now if only HG had all those Macross rights lock stock in barrell like that said they said. Then would have rolled this awesome original series for their 25 anniversay! I mean come on Big West didn't make anything new for their 25th Anniversary, but given a chance and the rights the hardworking people at HG would have made a new Robotech Saga with 25 epic episodes and a new movie, filled with the mecha and missile actions, music, and fanserive we have come to expect from Robotech, to add to the orginal 85. It'd have all new original characters like the protagonist Sam Lynn who ditchs being a male kabuki actor like his father Lynn Kyle and decides to become a pilot at this neat academy that get this. Has Rick Hunter's original Red Veritech on the roof! Of course after the invid attack during Janice Spear's flashy concent he gets recruited into the new Skull Squadron that is led by Captain Barack Obama in his yellow Messiah Veritech, who always quotes about presidents while everyon else in the S.P.S (Surplus Protoculture Supply) group is drinking in the bar. Hell I think Captain Obama was supposed to recite JFK's entire New Frontier speech in the introductive narrative to the show, don't have any clue why that would be relative to the new Robotech show. Too bad it'll never happen like Robotech 3000...Sigh. Ah well I quess I'll just have to check out this Macross F everyone has been talking about.
  21. I don't know. The Aniego sets have better video quality (less compression from lack of dub track) and subs apparently, but people here like to watch the ADV dvds for fear of "wearing down" their precious AnimEigo DVDs like its a vinyl record or something. I was implying that you can do whatever you want to DVD subtiles with the right freeware and know-how so their is little need to complain about subtiles on DVDs when one can easily change them to suit their whim, but few people actually do it. Take this one guy I met a few months ago. He was considering buying ADV's SDF Macross set, but he absolutely hated ADV's ugly yellow subs so I spend 5 mins telling this Computer Scieince major step by step how he could buy the set and easily reautherize the DVDs on his new $5000 computer with the subtitle font and color of his choice only to get... "Nah sounds too complicated and time consuming for me. I'll just download some fansubs" This comic book issue of SDF Macross?: http://cgi.ebay.com/MACROSS-SDF-1-COMICO-C...=item5d266c81a2
  22. I always find it funny when people complain about the subs on their Anime DVDs such as how ADV always uses the obnoxuious yellow font. I tell them if its their DVDs they can easily edit the subs and reauthorize said anime onto a blank DVD with the subs they like. In your case you have the ADV and Animego releases right? You can easily use the freeware Subrip to rip the Aniemgo subs and remux them with the ADV Macross DVDs.
  23. Come to think of it I have never seen a toy banned from shelves for small and sharp points only forced to come labeled with a warning. Years ago I remember seeing a News special about the most dangerous child toys sold in America and all them were toys made by Europan companies and they were considered dangerous because they had "ZERO WARNING LABELS!" Apparently according to American safety experts everything is dangerous until its rendered harmless with warning stickers. I think the real reason Walmart does't sell Revoltech Robotech or Macross is because they aren't a house hold name brand and because they aren't known through TV broadcasts. I have seen cheap Gundam Bandai's on Walmart shelves, but only while respective Gundam series were being broadcast on Cartoon Network. After the Broadcast though they are eventually liquidated to Big Lots. Chain stores like Walmart and Toys'R'us always devote what limited shelf space they have to whats hot at the time, BBTS on the other hand is one large store that specializes in selling toys so they can devote shelf space to lesser known toy lines. Side-effects of the fluoride in the majority of the drinking waters in America compared to fluoride being banned in most of Europe. Few realize that the fluoride in the water suppresses there thyroid gland and causes weight gain and loss of aggression, sex drive, and motivation among its many side effects.' I was the same way until I discovered that I had a "leaky gut" because I couldn't digest the proteins in bread or dairy products which I was literally addicted to like crack. Once I removed bread and dairy diet I was able to quickly bulk up quickly though.
  24. It 's in one of the old and now archived HG and Robotech debate threads. I remember that the Poster used an Avatar of Kamina dying with all that white noise, I don't remember his name though.
  25. That is not true at all. In fact some Anime companies have grown so big from going international that they can no longer depend on profiting from the Japanese market alone. The whole reason you see Anime companies like funimation streaming their anime release subbed an hour after the Live Japanese broadcast is because the Japanese companies have been hurt by American anime fans watching fansubs over waiting a year to buy the American releases. Just as VFTF1 said its not that the Japanese are uninterested in the American market its that its often too expensive or impossible to take what is made for Japanese and asian markets and release it in western markets.
