  1. Seems I've been beaten to the punch. but I'll answer anyway. Originally, DYRL? as an anime production was simply an "alternate retelling" of Space War I. You could take the SDF Macross interpretation or the DYRL interpretation of the events in the Macross universe and Kawamori wouldn't bother you When Macross 7 came along, DYRL was retconned to some extent as a "movie within the fictional Macross universe". Of course, everyone then wondered what the heck that meant in the face of obvious incongruent aspects of continuity, like the DYRL version of Exedol appearing in the "real world" of Macross 7 and or DYRL versions of Zentradi Nousjadeul-Ger battle suits appearing in Macross Plus. So what does all this mean? Basically, Kawamori and Co. will take from whatever version of Macross they prefer and use it in Macross sequels in spite of any continuity issues they create. IMO, that's the only official, canon answer that anyone can provide. And as we've seen in the various Macross sequels, it's clear Kawamori loves the DYRL versions the most, which is why such designs keep appearing throughout the sequels. That's pretty much all there is to it.
  2. Dat's right bitches! Revoltechs Rock! Read 'em and weep naysayers! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  3. LOL True, but then again, Zentradi football fans will be everywhere. No colony would be safe from World (Galaxy?) Cup insanity!
  4. The three Zentradi emissaries in DYRL clearly have pronounced pointed ears and also have oddly shaped lobes. This was continued in Macross Plus and Macross 7. The only reason the pointed ears seem to be more exaggerated on some Zentradi than others could be attributed to both style of the animation artists and a conscious decision on the part of the character designer to give certain characters particular sized ears to make them more distinguishable from each other.
  5. Nice scan! High res, just the way I like em But it's missing a foot
  6. The Macross Compendium has already identified the 8 extensions on the sniper rifle as "balancers" that assist in stable firing.
  7. I did notice. I've been trying to keep an eye out for the uses of the secondary weapons. Always good to know they were utilized.
  8. Always wondered what became of that law. I would think that after 50 years that law would have been rescinded. I just can't see them getting away with denial of Zentradi rights once the Zentradi became integrated into society to the level they have been. By now the government must be filled with Zentradi and half/quarter mixes. But who knows, old laws sometimes die hard
  9. I think fans are really working themselves up into a false state of alarm about the Macross Compendium going wiki. The site has multiple admins watching it, all changes can be undone by them and the whole place can be locked if vandalism ever becomes a problem. And let's keep in mind the Macross Compendium is not the wiki itself and is still a specialty site on it's own server. It has everything to gain and almost nothing to lose by switching to the wiki format and certainly isn't going to be affected by the same problems found in the larger wiki site. Most fandoms now use wiki format fansites, including Battlestar Galactica and others. They are fantastic resources for information and I've never had a problem with any of them. If anything, the Macross Compendium is under-utilized and tragically unrecognized. I'm constantly citing and linking to the Macross Compendium all over the net but it appears almost no one outside the Macross World community is even aware of the site. I'm hopeful the move to the wiki format makes the Macross Compendium more attractive and gains more fans.
  10. Olivia Williams. Yum. I'll be watching this show. Gotta hand it to Whedon, he knows how to get my attention
  11. Yeah, but it's one of those rare cases where the Americanization of a foreign film actually creates a better effect. Like The Road Warrior VF-27 Blondie
  12. Great work AlphaHX I've been waiting for someone to post a screen shot of that. Merci!
  13. I like the harmonica, reminds me of... VF-27 Sergio Leone VF-27 Man With No Name VF-27 Once Upon A Time In The Protoculture
  14. Yeah I know that one, but "new" isn't capitalized and is written like it's a new government, not THE "New Government"
  15. Ah, my thanks Gubaba. I was almost certain he was a rather undefined gentlemen, aside from his generous proportions around the midsection
  16. Weird. Maybe it has been. It's not like that area of Macross gets a lot of attention. Hell, I remember when they established the "New Era 001" but that seems to have gone by the wayside a long time ago
  17. It was okay and comparing it to the rest of the previews (I agree, much better term) I suppose Frontier is given the same treatment. I just hope the response becomes more enthusiastic than this because Macross Frontier doesn't deserve anything less, IMO. There's always the possibility Kawamori and Co. may screw it up in the end, but in my mind, right now this show is firing on all cylinders.
  18. Take it in context as a whole, you trouble maker
  19. I knew the fellow escorting Global in the limousine was a UN government representative, but I don't recall a title.
  20. Like I said, the Macross II mecha was simply a low priority, but I am going to feature a section for it. If you look at the history of the Macross Mecha Manual, you'll note that not all the anime shows had sections for the longest time. It takes a while to do all this work. Nonetheless, Macross II will make an appearance next update, which I'm hoping to release very soon.
  21. I'm sure the President has his own ship. Sheryl traveled to Frontier in a transport. I'm sure the President has one as well, plus his own escort.
  22. No. Earth is part of the United Nations Government and always has been. The only thing that's changed is apparently the word "New" has been attached to both the UN Government and the UN Spacy.
  23. Sounds like Macross Frontier is the seat of government for the whole New United Nations Government. Or, perhaps it could be like an Air-Force One kind of situation, where it's just the President and the rest of the government is elsewhere. You know, I just had a funny thought about all this. When I think about it, most NON-Macross fans probably just would have accepted the President as the President of this fictional society. But for some reason, most of us fans (myself included) didn't really make the connection even though it was staring us right in the face. Then again, maybe we were all thrown by the translation "Frontier Presidency" since it can be a rather ambiguous title (a Presidency for just the Frontier fleet or the Frontier fleet hosting the Presidency of the UNG?). Either way, I guess we now know that Glass is the big cheese after all. It's almost surreal that after all the Macross shows, we've never actually seen or met any part of the executive branch of the UNG. We've seen mayors and many high level military staff, but never a prime minister, president, vice president, defense minister, senator or anything else until Macross Frontier. Perhaps I'm forgetting the appearance of some such minor characters, but I can't recall any such occurrence in a past Macross show.
  24. Wow, that's a rather interesting piece of trivia. I suspected that they wouldn't call him a President unless he was something much more than just the caretaker of Macross Frontier, but being the big cheese of the whole New UNG is quite a revelation! I guess this really puts things into perspective.
