  1. I used to need one of those, I feel for you - I hated the thing.
  2. Indeed, very early cuts of the film actually used shots from earlier WWII films to show what the action would be like. (this was shown to studio execs, etc. and Steven Speilberg.)
  3. John Adams is on the nightstand. In Death Ground is on the downstairs reading stand (currently reading that one) along with book 4+ of the Sword of Truth series (on the backburner for now), along with the second trilogy of books that began with "Semper: Mars" (still need to get books 2 and 3 in the first trilogy), "Circuit: Breaker" and "Final Circuit", the 4th Temeraire book (about Australia, can't remember the title - just finished that one), "1612 - or 13 or 14, forget exactly" on the Nook, and a bunch of other paperbacks I got from the free library at work that I have yet to read...
  4. That is true for practically every fan community section hosted by a company. The only problem for RT is the miniscule amount of new animation over the years.
  5. Valley of the Wind is my vote, but I'd watch any of his films. Even better now that Disney did the English dub recently (re-dub?). Billy Crystal was great in his role in Howl's moving Castle, and the latest voicework for Nausica was outstanding, I really liked hearing Patrick Stewart for example.
  6. Justed started watching "Toward the Terra". First two episodes were OK, I'm hoping it doesn't fall off a cliff though since it has the preachy "save the Earth" vibe going - and it could end up being a preach fest... The main character in the show keeps reminding me of Ender from Ender's Game, even though the characters don't act alike - they both have a saviour of the universe vibe to them. As for the animation, somewhat recent, even though the character designs look older there is a good bit of computer animation mixed in. The battle scenes so far have been very well done, nice flowing missile attacks for instance.
  7. Or Robocop either, they stole the "Gas Station" scene from that one. That truly was one of the worst.
  8. The Final Countdown, decent movie. What goes back in time in Zipang? Saw an earlier live action japanese movie where a tank, copter, and river boat go back in time - it was pretty atrocious. I think the Japanese title was timeslip.
  9. Right now (as in, at this very minute). I'm watching CatShitOne on youtube. Decent English dub too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMlmEFIxdb4&feature=player_embedded
  10. Just saw two patlabor movies, WX13 and "The Movie". I was surprised by how little mecha action was in either one (especially 13), and even more surprised that I liked them anyway. (not that I'm only a mecha person, but renting one called Patlabor I expected mecha to be more "front and center") Going to look for more Patlabor stuff soon. Mecha - in case someone wants to get snooty, by mecha I'm refering to humanoid robots/vehicles. The show calls any mechanical box a Labor, but it just isn't the same...
  11. I agree that the rest of the translation was crap, but THAT was a great line...
  12. The main problem is the film itself could not decide if it was edgy or cute, Kubrick would have made the film much edgier - and that would have made all the difference. Spielberg took the sting out of the movie, and left it feeling flat. Until this thread came up I'd forgotten a good bit of the movie, which does not happen when I watch a movie that has emotional impact.
  13. That ^ guy has a robot in his head, I just rewatched the last bit of AI, and I still say he blew it by making them look too much like the aliens from another sceince fiction film the director should be familiar with, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
  14. I'm still waiting for History of the World part 2, the Hitler on Ice segment looks hilarious, not to mention Jews in Space.
  15. I'll ditto that, and I didn't think enough of the movie to bother looking up anything about it. They really should have made the robots at the end more robot-like rather then looking closer to the archtypical space alien... (It wasn't a bad film, but nothing great either)
  16. I didn't say the characters made sense, and that is perfect dialog for RT's Minmei.
  17. I think the lady that married the bald guy is the cutest of the bunch. My wife loved the show, and I was interested after hearing Big's line at the end of the first episode. My wife didn't even bother to watch the second movie though.
  18. Most of Robotech's dialog (original series) is fine, it's the blasted Narrator stating the obvious that drives me away. Although I like SC, the dialog is certainly flat - and far too much use is made of casual profanity for no good reason.
  19. Not fair, the remake is no more or less crappy then the original...
  20. Probably be interesting to read, the difference is that while watching Inception I was drawn into the story, while watching Dark Knight I spent at least half the time going "And NOBODY noticed all those explosives being planted in the Hospital / Boat" - it's always bad news for a film when the suspension of disbelief is so thoroughly shattered while the scene is still playing.
  21. If that Robocop sequal/reboot is dead, it will be anounced as starting up again soon.
  22. I could give a long list that in summation comes up as "he must have done an aweful lot of planning to pull of those explosions, especially for someone who doesn't play well with others", but that does not belong in a thread about Inception - which is a very good film.
  23. The article is from the 21st though, so unless it was scrapped again since then it may be back, not that I care either way.
  24. If you are talking about the movie with the Queen soundtrack, it is out on DVD. Or at least it was. Reminds me I need to go watch it again.
  25. IS that supposed to be Sheryl standing next to Alto? Other then the sleazy boots it doesn't look anything like her (or any other character...)
