Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 7 - READ 1st POST
Graham replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I really hope not. I want to see several minutes of VFs in every episode. It doesn't necessarily have to be Valk on Valk combat, but at least I want to see VFs doing something, anything, even if it's just launching, flying around or being shown in maintenance, etc.- 240 replies

Yeah, the transformation sequence for the Projection Pod is clearly shown when they are on Aether's deck, before they launch. Slow it down and watch, it's quite clever really. Can't wait to see it implemented for the DX. -

I definitely would have left Freyja and Hayate behind as the least experienced (and most annoying) members of the team. Probably a good idea to keep Kaname and Makina behind as well, that way if the infiltration team is captured or killed, the whole of Walkure has not been lost in a single mission.- 240 replies

Also back to the subject of loadouts..........this is going to be a somewhat long and rambling post,,,,,,,Hahaha! Starting at 10:41 when we see Hayate's VF-31J being loaded with the Projection Pod, it's quite interesting to look at the Pod loading elevator behind his VF-31J. 3 pods can be seen stored on the pod loading elevator: The top-most pod looks like the folded radome from Chuck's VF-31E. Does this imply I wonder that the radome can be installed on any VF-31 and it is not specific to Chuck's VF-31E? The middle pod, which I'm presuming is the standard Charger Pod, clearly has a beam-gunpod installed on it's ventral (bottom) surface. The bottom pod which should be the Projection Pod about to be loaded into Hayate's VF-31J is also shown with a beam-gunpod installed on it's ventral (bottom) surface. (see my notes on the attached screencap). I wonder do all the VF-31's share a single weapon pod loading elevator, or whether each VF-31 has their own individual pod loading elevator? If I had to guess, I'd say it's more likely that each VF-31 has their own individual pod loading elevator. When we see Arad's VF-31S launching at 12:01 with the Projection Pod already in the deployed (open) position, we also can clearly see the beam-gunpod on the underside of his VF-31S (see attached screencaps). What this implies to me is that when the projection pod is in hangar storage, it has the beam-gunpod attached, however, once the Projection Pod is installed on a VF-31, the beam-gunpod is somehow offloaded from the Projection Pod and attached directly to the VF-31 or more like attached somehow to the Super Packs instead. Also interesting to me and what makes me think this launch scene is not a simple animation error is the fact that the muzzle of the beam-gunpod is clearly visible, compared to when the beam-gunpod is attached to the standard charger pod on a non-Super Pack equipped VF-31 in fighter mode, the muzzle of the gunpod is usually blocked by the fight mode groin piece, preventing it from being fired in fighter mode unless the Charger Pod is deployed. Hence the wing-root (arm) cannons have to be used in standard fighter mode as the beam-gunpod is blocked. Here with Super Packs attached, with the Gerwalk joint 1-click down, this slightly lowers beam-gunpod, clearing the muzzle from any obstruction. Of course none of this explains why when Arad is using his knives in Battroid mode, no trace of the beam-gun pod can be seen anywhere That I am chalking up to an animation error. Anyway, it will be interesting to see later if a Projection Pod is released for the transforming toys and models how the issue of the beam-gunpod mounting is handled. -
Gotta say the Bandai 1/72 Sv-262 looks pretty bad in Battroid mode, at least in the pics posted so far.

This episode is getting my first ever negative vote so far in the series and it's not because of any lack of mecha porn. On the positive side, the episode did move the story forward and give us more information about the political situation and the cause of Var. And the cat ear military helmets were cool. On the negative side, the episode was a bit too silly for my taste. The whole VR hacking using Pacmen while singing...........urghhhh. Yes, real hacking may look visually boring, but what was shown in this episode was just way over the top. Sending your Elite team of pilots and famous (and thus potentially easily recognized) idol singers on a covert, intelligence gathering, infiltration mission behind enemy lines......double urghhh. I'm sorry, I can't believe that an organization with the obvious resources of Chaos doesn't have a few ex-military recconaissance/intelligence gathering specialists on the payroll, who would be better trained to handle such a mission. Yeah, I understand from a story perspective, they had to keep the focus on the main characters, but using such specialized and valuable assets as Delta and Walkure for a role they are mostly not trained and experienced in doing is pretty silly. At most they should have just sent Mikumo, Mirage and Messer, as Messer and Mirage at least have some military experience and Mikumo is the most capable, oh and Reina (for her hacking abilities).- 240 replies

Year, that's a great custom Roy. Makes the toy look so much better.

I really like that close up pic of the VF-31S's head. definitely my favorite of all the 31 heads. Graham

Yeah me too. But overall the Gimix Draken II looks much better than the Bandai 1/72 IMO.

Yeah it quite surprised me when Herman was referred to by the German rank Hauptmann (Captain) in the subtitles. -
Yep, for my poor man's DX, I'm just gonna snap the kit together as quick as I can, maybe apply a few dabs of super glue on some parts where necessary, slap the stickers on and perhaps do a bit of quick panel lining using a Gundam marker and that's it. Ain't gonna be any sanding, puttying, scribbing panel lines, painting etc (not that I know how to do any of that stuff anyway.............hahaha!) Graham

I definitely feel the songs are the weakest part of Delta so far. The only one I mildly like and can kinda remember is Ikenai Borderline. As for the others, nothing sticks in my head. I dislike the ending song and really don't get why people are saying it has a Mac 7 vibe..............no way! I also felt the song played during the battle in episode 6 was not a good match for the action scenes. Graham -
I guess they are not that popular with most fans and don't sell well enough. They are certainly not my cup of tea. Haha, yeah I likely will throw the kit as well. Or use it as an airsoft target. I'm sure by the time the DXs come out, the kit will be a broken froppy mess anyway.

Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
Graham replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
Hmm.........looks great, but definitely not what I expected for Cruiser mode. Definitely showing it's Macross Quarter Influence there. Still, looks far better than the Quarter ever did. -
Maybe it's the lighting but Mirage's VF-31 looks too pink in that photo.
-
No, no and no. Just not my thing.

I Hope the release order is Messer, Arad, Hayate, VF-31A, Chuck, Mirage, but I know it won't be. We all know Hayate will be first. I'm down to two hobbies only, Macross & Airsoft and I still have no money.........hahaha

Me too. I'm old school, single player only, or split screen with a friend or my son on the couch next to me playing. I have absolutely zero interest in playing online games against a bunch of strangers. And in my middle age when all my friends are married with kids and busy jobs, trying to get friends to coordinate a time for online play is near impossible (not that any of them would be interested anyway). Anyway, this whole online play fad seems to be more a millennial or kids thing. Not my cup of tea at all. Grumpy old school gamer here........hahaha
