I'm new to the PSP, but I gotta say the placement of the power button really sucks. About three times now during frantic gameplay, the palm of my right hand has accidently powered off the system. Graham

Still playing through the M7 missions. Haven't tried any other eras yet. Maxed out the VF-17D and currently tuning up the VF-17S. I guess my reflexes must really be slowing down with age. As for most missions the best ranking I can get is an 'A' and I only have one 'S' so far. No SS at all. Graham

While the new Macross Ace Frontier PSP game should in no way be taken as accurate spec wise, it's interesting to note that the VF-25's are shown seeingly firing missiles from internal bays. No missiles are shown on the wings. I suspect there is some limited internal missile carriage somewhere on the VF-25. Graham -

In M7 we do see reaction weapons being loaded into the the VF-17's internal weapons bays in the lower leg. Graham -

I'm wondering if the front landing gear strut has actually snapped in that 1/100 fighter mode pic. -

Thought I'd add the new hobby show 1/60 DX pics from the Cybergundam Blog link that was posted earlier. Graham -

Notice the sigh behind the battroid says "Feb. VF-25F and" I'd love to know what is after the 'and', but the battroid is blocking the sign. Anyway, this is definitely looking better than the DX. I may just have to buy 3, to keep permanetly in the three modes, so I don't have to mess about with the small parts. Graham -

Bah just realised that all the Battroid and Gerwalk pics of the Ozma VF-25S from that show are of the 1/72 plastic model kit, not the DX toy. I thoought they looked too good to be the toy. Graham -

The wonky posses of the 1/60 DX VF-25G and RVF-25 battroids are likely beacuse they are preproduction test shots or resin sculpts, which always have very loose joints and so can rarely stand straight. I'm sure production versions will look and pose better. The 1/60 DX VF-25F Alto and VF-25S Ozma are growing on me and look better from most angles and in most modes, especially if you squint a little. The deal-breaker pic though is the side view photo of Alto's 1/60 DX VF-25F in fighter mode. The short landing gear and chunky proportions really look awful and no amount of squinting helps. The 1/100 Alto VF-25F partsformer on the other hand is looking better and better with each new pic. Graham -

Looking pretty sweet. I hope the production versions has all the markings tampo printed. Graham -
Despite it not being correct to M7, the VF-17's gunpod in MAF is actually pretty good. Graham

I'd say 99.99% chance there are 3 hardpoints per wing. They are on the CG model in the anime and also on the Bandai kit. I'm not including the wing glove spike, I mean 3 actually on the wing. Interestingly, the VF-171 also appears to have 3 hard points per wing. I think the reason we only see two speakers or two reaction weapons mounter per wing on the VF-25, is beacuse they they are so big and three simply would not fit. Graham

It did indeed bomb.........at the box office. Graham

Just one nitpick. I would call them 'stickers', not 'decals'. Graham

There are three hardpoints per wing (not including the spike on thhe front of the wing glove, which is likely the Super Pack attachment point). The three wing hard points can clearly be seen in many pics of the VF-25, not to mention on the model kit. I think the reason that only two reaction missiles are carried is that they are too large. Definitely 3 hard points per wing on the VF-25. The very early promo movies even showed the VF-25 with wing mounted ordnance similar to that carried by the VF-171. Graham -

When the fighter is at rest on it's landing gear, the legs are pushed us a little higher, compared to when it is in a flying pose on the Bandai display stand. I've also noticed that when it is displayed resting on the landing gear, the wing root gun gaps tend to close up, although still not completely. When the Fighter is displayed flying (gear up), he wing root gun gaps are much bigger. And I'd definitely prefer a PG VF-25 to a PG VF-1. Although the VF-1 is a classic design and the most famous VF, I'm so tired of it. In the last 6 years we have had far too many versions of the VF-1 released. The VF-25 is a fresh, exciting and cool looking design IMO. If it came out as a PG I'd definitely buy it and hang the cost. On the other hand If Bandai released a PG VF-1, I'd just say 'meh' and move on. Got the 1/48 and 1/60 ver.2 VF-1 and they are good enough for me. Graham -

IMO, based on the latest pic, the 1/100 definitely looks better than the 1/60 in battroid mode, although the leg placement is also too high. I'm still a little scared by all the small swapable parts though. Can't wait to see the 1/100 VF-171. Hope we get both standard and EX versions. Graham -

If Yamato tried to re-release the ver.1 1/60 VF-1 now, I doubt anybody would buy it. Graham -
On one of the early M7 missions, I think it’s around the 4th or 5th mission, there are some boxes in a crater on a moon. What are you supposed to do on this mission? No matter how many Fz-109A I destroy or how quickly I destroy them or destroy Gigil in his Fz-109F, I always only get a ‘B’ ranking. In all other missions I’ve either got an ‘A’ or an ’S’, so I think I must be missing something. Graham
-
I'm thinking that we only get half the Frontier missions, as the game developers were probably only given the Frontier storyline up to the halfway mark. The end of the series may not have even been finalised by then. Still no excuse for no armored and super packs though. Graham

Is there much difference between the YF-21 & VF-22? Graham

I really hope the VF-25 eventually gets as many pages as the VF-1J is getting. Graham

Given that the parts are pretty light, magnets might do the trick. Not sure if there is anywher to actually put them though. Graham
