    Az, during my brief foray into the Robotech forums I came across a discussion in which the staff essentially said that Tom Bateman was full of shite in regards to what he said during his appearance on the Podcast. Any question put to them regarding anything Tom has said is not likely to be responded to with a kind answer. Are we talking about the Lucas-like new edition of DYRL? I'd rather burn a blu with the last good release with custom subs.

    I dunno, it's pretty readily available. Hell, I watched every episode of Frontier as it was broadcast live, streaming it from Japan. And the internet allows you to easily order whatever you want from overseas retailers. TV or movies? Check. Toys? Check. Games? Check. HG is irrelevant to Macross fans.

    Read the licensing thread to understand the legal situation. It's nothing like what you appear to think it is. And it's so easy to get Macross products now HG is irrelevant to our concerns (unless, I suppose, you're looking for a dub). And I agree--HG shouldn't be using a KS to fund this project. They have the finances to support this internally. Apparently, HG doesn't think very much of Robotech if they're leaving their people to beg for financing online.

    Milk, the subs aren't simply a text copy of the dub. Watch the dub with the subs up (proper subtitles, not CC), you'll see the difference.

    Curiosity killed the cat. I didn't stay long, though. And you're right, there really is no reason for a Macross fan to be doing any hand-wringing over this KS. It's 2014, we can get anything we want Macross related no matter were we live. Sure, we are all going to rubberneck a little, but we have no stake in whether this succeeds or fails. It doesn't affect us.

    I can't believe I'm defending HG here, but if I had a dime for every anime that borrowed a concept or design from someplace else, I could fund this kickstarter with one donation. Anime productions are notorious for ripping off all sorts of previous works, and have been doing so for decades. Hell, if not for Blade Runner, the anime industry likely would have collapsed.

    They're filming a Jem movie right the hell now, and a new Turtles movie is almost out. If WB had any faith in the property, Robotech would have gone into production a while ago.

    How could HG sustain an ongoing series with such high production costs? At best this is a one-off money grab. It's a scheme with no long term prospects.
