  1. Although it's after 50+ years of R&D, macronized Klan showed us what happens when you slap a Valkyrie in the face. The head could be shooting through space if it was a VF-1.
  2. So is/was Battlecry and Invasion canon at one time? Could they be considered part of the unique discussion that I started in the Robotech debate thread? Nowadays I don't hear people talk about it or the YF-1R as much as other stuff in the series.
  3. @ RavenHawk So far I've only watched the Robotech II: the Sentinels, but I always wanted to see Rick Hunter's leadership skills as a general/admiral of the military. It didn't leave me with a good impression at first, but I was wondering how he turned out as the story went on in the comics.
  4. While on the topic of Jack Archer, it's sad what happened to him at the end of Battlecry.
  5. What if someone else with more competence came around, created Robotech, and made the situation even worse?
  6. I agree, that was very frugal of them to pawn off as something new.
  7. From what I heard, they're spending a lot of their own money for the get together. Among other things, there are plans for t-shirts, flyers, and custom coins all planned for Launch Day. Didn't know a lot of fans were loaded for stuff like that.
  8. If they sold the battroid head by itself at a cheaper price, since that's the only difference besides the mecha color, than maybe. You could probably swap it in and out of another toy.
  9. Here's a review for it: http://anymoon.com/blog/2007/01/17/toynami...terpiece-yf-1r/ I thought I saw this ranging between $60-$200 online. It's selling for $60 on ebay, but there are only 2 auctions with no bids.
  10. Isn't it a regular Valkyrie with only a different head design and color?
  11. When I saw this article about Sega's new portable device, I kinda felt sorry for them. Almost thought they were coming back to the console war. Up Close With SEGA's New Portable Hardware But this part boggles the mind:
  12. Wow, guess it's true then. "In Soviet Russia, (ノゝ∀・)~キラ☆ does you!"
  13. Guess the staff no longer had a use for them, but it's still a tragic way to end their roles in the series. I thought a bigger mindfrack was Rick becoming an admiral in the military, which I hope wasn't the reason why they all got killed off. He looked like a guy who would've been content staying a CAG or flyboy for the rest of his life. Lisa would've fit the role better.
  14. The "thinking cap" probably stands out as a unique poor man's excuse regarding the concept, but very original. It's something only Macek magic can make possible even if your show blatantly contradicts it. You can control a mecha with only a helmet, unless you're Rick, Lisa, or anyone who flies well without one. They're just badass.
  15. The thinking cap could count as original, or at least their crazy explanation of how it works could. I also came across something called the VM-9 Silverback, a dune buggy veritech (seriously? ). Would it count as original?
  16. Here's a question for long time members/fans, is there a list of all the original concepts, characters, etc. the Harmony Gold staff created specifically for Robotech that wasn't derived from Macross, Southern Cross, Mospeada, and Megazone 23 material? Of course, character names count, just not the designs, but anything else from the comics and novels that were Robotech original, perhaps things that won't be affected from legal troubles regarding the series?
  17. Macek can only do so much with other people's work. But when he's given more control on a project, like the Sentinels, Robotech 3000, and the novels, you start to realize where the talent has been all these years. He's probably a decent director, as Robotech proved to people, but when managing original animation/material to match the quality that's come before, or having more responsibilities with a project, not so much. Even if legal issues were cleared, it may not help much.
  18. Actually, it kind of makes sense because the last time we saw MacGruber he got broke investing in the stock market.
  19. These ads made my day during the Super Bowl: MACGRUBER!
  20. Gotta commend them for keeping track of continuity this week since I forgot some of the details. Like everyone else here, Some nerd humor for this season: "Wow, Kid Icarus finally grew a pair."
  21. With this economy, I need my $6-$10. Paying to watch it just for mocking would still help the crew make a profit little by little. It's like watching a bad movie, in the end you hated it but unless you demand your money back from the theater it counts as a sale. Enough random sales like that may turn up a sequel. I'd wait for the reviews first and let critics do all the work/suffering.
  22. Perhaps Rick Hunter and Ridge Forester? Maybe a Bernard or an orange shirt since Rick already uses red.
