  1. I have been reading about persistent light. Seems interesting if we can make cannon fire leave a momentary trail.
  2. Nice use of cereal boxes! But whats your long term plan for the buildings?

Well they haven't done a new VF mold yet. Question: Once they get out one of the two seaters, will they be able to use the same cockpit mold on the VF-1D, VT-1, and VE-1? Or will each have a totally different mold? This would effect the roll out, I assume.
  4. Fantastic! Love the Roy custom. What was it originally?
  5. So how will it run? Is it going to be remote control?
  6. I will try the foil on LEDs. The wings and engine flares have tiny SMDs, which are even thinner than the wire, and much smaller than LEDs. Engine Test! Some new effects on the cockpit. Squeezed some side glow fiber in the engine.

Nice work! Looks great. How did you make them?
  8. I'm no pro, and definitely not a skilled painter. But I encourage anyone interested to get into Arduino, because it is really easy and loads of fun. Six months ago, I didnt know the difference between the red wire and the black wire. Some stuff I learned about effects of LEDs on plastic from my mistakes on this build: On clear parts, LEDs will glow through the plastic, even after primer and paint. If there is no clear outlet for the LED, the light will be diffused. It is very difficult to occulate LEDs on clear parts. I dont have the solution, but I believe people prime in black or metal to fully occulate clear parts. On non-clear parts, LEDs will also shine through white plastic and darker plastics, but are easier to occulate with a few coats of primer and paint on dark plastic. If you need a sharp lighting effect like a warning light, then you need to have the LED directly on the clear part, otherwise it will diffuse.
  9. I would love to have a clear decal for the control panel of Minmay or Misa.
  10. Amazing. The 3D printing age is going to be fantastic.
  11. Yes, to be honest, I simply forgot to install a neo in the engine! The project grew and I hadnt planned for a Trinket at all, until I was outvoted by my wife and son.
  12. Now watching Macross II with my 12-year old son, subtitled. From the first episode, he was really enjoying it. I don't know, but I think this generation is a lot sharper than we were. He was noticing stuff that I had not picked up after several viewings: Most interestingly, he noticed that there were Zentraedi battleships on the side of the Earth fleet. He also noticed that the Macross Cannon has Zentraedi battleship arms (which is too cool on many counts). For my part, I have always like Mac II, but only after seeing it subtitled. Sorry, but the dub sucks. Now it has gone up even higher in my estimation... maybe after the bad taste from Delta? Although not made with Kawamori's involvment, but it was definitely for Macross fans by Macross fans. Go watch it subbed. It's all Macross, all the time. I can only assume that haters have only seen the dub, because it is AWESOME.
  13. NZEOD, This is my sketch for the Fan Racer. Feel free to edit your own ideas, and I can upload it and show everyone the result. An open-source kit! Might be fun. Fan_Racer_Fading.ino
  14. The whole kit was clear. The clear parts benefited the lighting in some areas like the engine and the cockpit, but also made it more difficult to occulate where needed. I learned a few lessons, that's for sure. Dealing with the clear wings was the worst. Those did NOT need to be clear. I should have primed in black, I guess, but I don't know how white would look on black. Aside from the fact that I can't paint!
  15. I've put up a full video in model Kits section. Thanks to everyone for their advice on this.
  16. Happy New Year everyone! Thanks to the Workbench guys as always.
  17. You've done a great job and learned a lot. So don't worry about "imperfections". It is uniquely your work.
  18. No no no. Cant paint that well. That's the Yamato SDF-1: I Panel lined, decaled, and coated, but not painted. And the Arcadia Bodolzer (??) 3D printed and prepainted from their webshop. Untouched by me.
  19. I started with the Arduino Uno, then shifted to the Adafruit Pro Trinket, which is basically a smaller Uno. All the other board options come afterwards, based on the needs of the project.
  20. Ha ha! Guess I like bright and shiny objects. They can be dimmed. The LEDs are belong to us.
  21. I found that the rear wheel doesnt want to turn (for painting). Should I scrape at it with an hobby knife, or leave it alone?
