I was kinda meaning movie wise. I guess as far as books, maybe most dangerous game might be the og, but I’m not really sure there. I read a few of King’s books when I was younger, but decided that it’s for the best if I never read story books anymore. I figure if it’s a decent story they’ll make a movie. And I really don’t want to be that guy that everyone totally hates that says “the book was better”. Quote
electric indigo Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I kinda envy you for being somewhat in the dark about how badly many movies are written 😄 Quote

You don’t get frustrated when some great story gets ruined. I think I’d be even happier if I had never read anything by Tolkien when I was a kid. Maybe I wouldn’t be as frustrated with rings of power. Or maybe the Hobbit movies wouldn’t seem so tedious Quote

In fact, I even questioned whether this was official on the channel I got it from Quote
TangledThorns Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Crazy that we got to see anything. What a joke that the lawsuit is. Quote

TangledThorns Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 Looks fun which is not how I would describe Aronofsky's films, lol. Quote

Looks fun for sure, but I feel like that’s the wrong song for this movie title. Maybe Jane’s Addiction might have a song that fits that title just a bit better. I could be wrong though Quote
Dynaman Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I just got back from the latest Mission Impossible movie. Decent film, anyone that likes the series will enjoy this one. The price for tickets though, $25 a ticket for a matinee. OW! That is up about $10 from the last time I went to a movie at a theater (granted, five years ago but still) Quote

And movie theaters wonder why they are dying... Quote
Thom Posted May 25 Posted May 25 They are in a spiral. Less people filling the seats means they have to charge more for the warm seats they do have, which means less people filling the seats, and thus they need to charge more for the even fewer warmed seats... Quote
Old_Nash_II Posted May 28 Posted May 28 No connection with Wings of Desire, Faraway, So Close! and City of Angels XD Quote

Big s Posted Monday at 09:02 PM Posted Monday at 09:02 PM I finally did it and watched Hundreds of Beavers recently. It took a bit of convincing and found a few spoiler free reviews that all said that it was the funniest movie of the year back in 2024. I really don’t remember too many funny movies from last year, so maybe it’s true, but it may have been a low bar year for comedy. Anyway Hundreds of Beavers definitely won’t be a movie for everyone. I really enjoyed it, but I like some rather absurd things. The budget is practically nothing, all the animals are played by people in furry costumes or are sewn together puppets. and the effects are all animated in. It’s also filmed in black and white and done in a way to give a classic cartoon kinda look to everything. A lot of the music I kinda recognize from other movies like the ending theme, so that was probably another way to keep things cheap. Despite its cheapness, there’s a lot of truly epic scenes. Basically it’s about a drunk that gets his life completely destroyed by beavers and left out in a cold forest and has to navigate his cartoony world and learn gradually how to survive. There’s a running gag that there is a random vendor lodge that’s kinda like something out of a video game that sells items with increasing usefulness depending on the price and the only way to get money is to bring in animals that he’s trapped. There’s a lot of trial and error that’s fun to watch because things only work by cartoony rules. He does meet a more experienced trapper that helps him out, but eventually he has to take what he’s learned and perfect it to meet his new goal of not just basic survival, but marrying the vendor’s daughter. Overall it’s a fun one with a bit of a slow start because the main character has to slowly learn the best ways to perfect his skills from being a guy with zero survival skills to becoming a professional trapper. If you’re ok with absolute absurdity and nonsensical humor, it’s a good watch, but I’d imagine that most will stay away from it after just watching the preview. Quote
