boinger Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I wouldn't mind seeing more MST3K shows! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/bringbackmst3k
grigolosi Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Definitely! There are so many movies still screaming to be made fun of!
Kelsain Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Tried to back this last night, but Kickstarter had trouble processing it for some reason.
Dynaman Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I don't like kickstarters but I may back this one, since there really is no other way more MST3K could be made.
Mommar Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I noticed they didn't actually answer the question about why not the old cast?
dizman Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's cool that they are trying to (and probably will) bring back MST3K but isn't riff trax still a thing?
anime52k8 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's not quite the same. I mean riff trax is funny, but it lacks the running themes and backstory.
Mommar Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's not quite the same. I mean riff trax is funny, but it lacks the running themes and backstory. You're right, there is something about that common thread that seems to make MST3K better.
Dynaman Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 You're right, there is something about that common thread that seems to make MST3K better. Try the RiffTrax live shows (Santa Claus Meets the Ice Cream Bunny in a few week.) for a closer fix on that MST3K feel. No puppets, no SOL, but the live audience and the riffers shown on the side of the screen really add to the experience, and the shorts that they add in as well.
Roy Focker Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 2 million for 3 episodes of this!?! I never understood the appeal of this show. Sure it is fun to make fun of a bad movie while watching it so why do you need to watch other people do it? Isn't that something you can do with friends?
Mommar Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) 2 million for 3 episodes of this!?! I never understood the appeal of this show. Sure it is fun to make fun of a bad movie while watching it so why do you need to watch other people do it? Isn't that something you can do with friends? They break down what goes into that 2 million and it makes perfect sense. Edited November 14, 2015 by Mommar
Dynaman Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I'll revive the dead to say that the second season of the "new" MST3K dropped on Netflix today (perfect day for it) and the riffing on "Mac and Me" is some of the best of ANY MST3K ever. The movie itself is a dreadful piece of work but probably cost more to license then their usual fare since I remember it being a major release when it came out. Next up is "Atlantic Rim" which I think is one of those Asylum ripoff titles.
