How many episodes is the series going to be?

Also how well is the show doing? Will there be a sequel series simialr to how Sailor Moon R, S, SS and Stars were released as the manga went on?

From what I've read, the series will run at 50 episodes with no possibility of a second season.

According to the Anime Land section of Newtype USA, the show is getting mid-3's and 4's in viewer ratings. That's pretty low compared to Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and Kamen Rider Blade, which get 9's and 10's on their ratings.

SPOILER ALERT! Do not read further unless you've reached episode 44.

With only six episodes to go, the series has been showing a lot of plot twists:

- Sailor Moon's true form is triggered by Usagi-chan's feelings of anger and sadness. Mamoru has urged her to stay happy even if they're not together.

- There's a rift (not to mention a power struggle) between Rei-chan and Minako-chan. Rei-chan wants Minako-chan to drop the "past life" issues. She even questions Minako-chan if her true powers have actually awakened.

- Nephrite slowly gets his powers back.

- Zoisite dies at the hands of a Yoma while saving Sailor Moon.

- Kunzite commits suicide in an attempt to break free from Queen Beryl's control.

Next time on Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

Minako-chan loses her powers?

SPOILER ALERT! Do not read further unless you've reached episode 47.

Two more episodes to go (episode 49 airs on September 25) and so many things have happened on episode 47:

- It turns out that Kunzite is still alive, but what is he planning to do?

- In an attempt to end all evil, Endymion seeks to single-handedly destroy Queen Metaria.

- But no one prepared for what happened towards the end of the episode - the Sailor Senshi has lost one of their own. Minako-chan agreed to undergo surgery to remove the tumor in her brain. She never came back from the operating room.

Well, as many of us know, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon ended its run last month. Unfortunately, as I currently don't have DSL, I have not yet seen episode 49. In the meantime, here's a wrap-up of the episode before it.

Act.48

Following the death of Minako-chan, a lot of other characters start to die off. Kunzite is killed when he prevents Jadeite from murdering Mamoru at the last minute. Meanwhile, Mamoru tells Usagi-chan that he defeated Queen Metaria and has contained her within him. However, it doesn't take long for Metaria to possess Mamoru and make him evil. Usagi-chan has trouble deciding whether or not to kill Mamoru to save the world, even with the Sailor Senshi in danger.

On the bright side, he did us a favor and destroyed Mio.

Something to note about Kunzite's death is that his stone didn't shatter like Zoisite's did. It just fell down, much like Jadite's did, early in the series. So, he's probably not dead, just resting.

And incidently, M-Endymion's destruction of Mio makes him a hero in my eyes.

What no Final Act spoilers here?

Let ME!!!! Spoiler Power Make-UP!!!

So here we are at the end of all things; the end of the world... The princess is so torn up with grief about the death of Prince Endymion that she decides to the destroy the world... the Sailor Senshi (Merc, Mars and Jup) follow her in an attempt to stop her... even if they have to fight her. Princess Moon summons minions to fight the senshi... the senshi create new weapons from their Tamborines (Mecury a sword, Mars two daggers (one from Venus' Tamborine) and Jupiter a Naginata. Berayl releases Jaedite from her curse but he stays with Beyral out of loyalty and the two are burried alive.

Princess Moon's minions prove too much for the sailor senshi and they are defeated... And Princess Moon destroys the world.

Endymion appears before Moon on the barren surface and speaks with her... she is happy to see him but saddend that everyone is now dead, he says she can revive the world with the power of the Maboroshi Ginzuishou but it will most likely take their lives... He gives her a wedding ring and they use the power of the crystal. We see the bodies of the two lovers as sand blows over them... hand in hand... the moon watch in the Princesses hand.

Cut to class... Ami is sitting and worried cause there is an empty spot... where is her friend? Then Naru arrives late and she get's scolded by the teacher. Rei is playing hide and seak with the kids at the shrine... MINAKO (they ignored my no Minako revival policy... I'm so glad) arrives for a song recording.

Then as they are walking an image flashes in their heads... of a smiling girl... they realize they've forgotten something important... USAGI! They all rush off thinking her name.

Somewhere inbetween life and death... Usagi in in a shimerring white gown lies on the gorund she hears someone faintly calling her name "who?" she asks. "Usagi? Me (well not simply me "watashi no koto, I'm simplifying")?" Her moon clock that was given to her by Mamoru and stopped ticking so long ago starts again. She looks over and see's Mamoru also in shimmering white is there with her...

Princess Moon appears before her and says (to the best of my Japanese knowledge) "Your friends havn't forgotten you, you can live. Return." (I think she also says something about the crystal having taken it's last life but I'm not sure).

Mamoru tells her to go... she asks about him he says not to worry about him, she says something about being alone...

Then the S H I T T E N O U show up (take that evil board censor) They show the painting that was taking his life (his picture which became clearer as more and more life engery was taken disapears). Kunzite asks him to live for their sake and the other three express simillar sentiments.

The four senshi run into each other bridge And then Usagi runs up and meets them... as Mamoru looks on... (The order Usagi calls out to them by name is "Ami-chan, Rei-chan, Mako-chan Minako-chan, in case anyone cares) and a really cool song plays. THE END! But wait.... at the very end it says "see you again" so maybe there will be a sequal after all?

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon R[omance], anyone?

That is what I originally posted on Anime alberta... it looks like there are a couple of specials in the work... but nothing on a full sequal. Apparantly two specials in the works from what I've heard... and the first will have Usagi and Mamoru get married.

Well, let me dig up this old thread by saying that I just finished watching all 50 episodes of this series, and going into with the enthusiasm of a kid I found myself actually enjoying it. I did not care for the anime, but the girls who portrayed the senshi did a very good job and made the live action series well worth watching. Out of all of them, I ended up voting for Ami as my favorite character, although Rei was close. And the fact that they were so cute had me slapping myself because of the way I looked at them because of their ages as well as mine. And considering that Chisaki Hama is the youngest of them all makes me sick because I really liked her with that blue wig.

Yes, this show was mindless fun, but if you know that going into the first episode, you'll enjoy it a helluva lot more.

Guess I'll download it at some point and give it another try. I got a few episodes into it but then stopped.

Yes, those TV-Nihon files are fansubbed.

And I'm glad you enjoyed the series as much as I did, Noriko. But I'm wondering right now...what have the girls been doing after the series ended?

Well, from what I could find out, the chick who played Sailor Venus, Ayaka Komatsu is doing something close to light porn (see images), while the babe who played Sailor Saturn, Mew Azama has currently wrapped up shooting a 2006 calendar.

I don't know about Chisaki Hama as her website blocks all attempts to visit her homepage outside of Japan. Either she just doesn't want the foreign attention, or she is scared to death of gaijin fanboys.

Miyuu Sawai seems to have a part in the Full Metal Alchemist movie which came out in July of this year, and she is also appearing in a television drama on October 20th at 8:00 p.m. on Asahi National Broadcasting Co. Someone record it and let us know what it's like.

One other thing, the Japanese are an odd lot sometimes. I found these pictures over at a fan site devoted to Miyuu Sawai, and it seems that at even at a young age (below 18), photobooks and DVD's featuring teen stars scantilly clad are all over the place. Try doing that here in the US and you may have the federal government banging your door down. Example below:

You know, that's probably the only picture I can say Miyuu was actually cute in. I don't think she was really that attractive in Sailor Moon, well, when you put all the girls together, Keiko, and Ayaka were probably the cutest out of all of 'em.

No thanks. Too young for my taste. I'll just go buy Aya Sugimoto's book Porno instead.

It's been like that since the show ran on its first month. I've also heard that she changed her professional name. Forgot what it was, though.

She better not have a huge part in this, I don't want her to be that guys luv interest........I hate those Too Fast too Furious movies alot I almost feel like they make a mockery of Street Racing.

345355[/snapback]

I don't think she'll have a leading role on the film, as she can't speak English. She'll probably have a small, but distinguished role like Chiaki Kuriyama in Kill Bill Vol. 1.

But then again, what's she gonna do? Mars-Power Make-Up?

You know, for a movie that's set in Tokyo, there are a LOT of english names in that cast list.

From The Sailor Moon Soapbox:

Where Are They Now?: The Girls of PGSM

by Rob Maxwell

Of the six Sailor Senshi actresses, five remain active. Chisaki Hama (Sailor Mercury) became unemployed when her teen fashion magazine job with melon went away with its cancellation. Not long afterward, her official website announced she would be taking a break for both health reasons and to prepare for college entrance exams. That was in February 2006. This, combined with a lack of updates to her website, leads most people well familiar with the Idol industry to believe she has retired. By now, Reika Izumi, her real name, would be finishing her first year of college.

Miyuu Sawai (Sailor Moon) is continuing to do the occasional Idol video with Fresh : Re : Fresh being her most recent. In between videos, she has done a little acting work, including a role in a horror movie, a part in a play, and voice work in the Black Cat anime and the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. She has "graduated" from her job as a model for the teen fashion magazine Love Berry.

Keiko Kitagawa (Sailor Mars) "graduated" from the teen fashion magazine SEVENTEEN (Japan) last year. After PGSM, she began working in the movie industry, appearing in 7 movies, including her first starring role in Dear Friends which hit Japanese theaters this past February.

Myuu "Mew" Azama (Sailor Jupiter) continues to work in the fashion industry after winning the 38th non-no Modeling Grand Prix last year, which earned her a promotion to non-no, which is a college-aged fashion magazine, from SEVENTEEN (Japan), from which she retired at the end of last year.

Ayaka Komatsu (Sailor Venus/Sailor V) continues her Idol work with the occasional Idol DVD or photobook in between appearing in television shows. She has appeared in a pair of Japanese The Fast and the Furious clone movies. Her latest DVD was released this past January while her somewhat scandalous and most recent Photobook Moon Doll was released in February 2006.

Rina Koike (Sailor Luna), now 13 years old, is following in Ayaka's footsteps as both a TV star and a blossoming Idol after a good Jr. Idol career. Beginning over the winter, she has appeared in nearly 30 Idol magazine issues, including the covers of the Jr. Idol magazine Pure Pure and the Idol magazine Chu→Boh, both released recently, ahead of the April debut of her regular role on a new Japanese TV drama.

This is still the greatest live action show ever made. It's actually called "Pretty Guardian Sailormoon" in English in the title. "Sailor Moon" is the anime dub.

Talk about dragging out an old thread. :p I just recently watched all of these again with a friend of mine who is a big Sailor Moon fan. I cannot believe she never saw these. However, I also really enjoyed this show Cutie Honey The Live. The babe who plays Kisaragi Honey (Mikie Hara) is hot as hell.
