like a lot of the recent SOCs, I'm glad the EX gokins are being made, but they really aren't my cup of tea. The getters are AWESOME! and I would have picked them up for sure, had they been a reasonable price, but none of the other ones do anything for me.

i prefer my super robots cleaner and simpler looking.

Guppy, I am almost certain I will be going with HLJ. The nice thing about them is that they quote in yen and I pay them in yen (less exchange rate lost). I'll drop you a PM to confirm when they are ready to pre-order, that would reduce the shipping alot.

HLJ must have missed the boat when the colour schemed versions were first introduced.

The colour versions were supposed to be limited to 1500 each. I am guessing the colour version were limited because Fewture knew Sato's original colour scheme were likely to be less popular, having them limited will definitely boost the sale. I am pretty sure many people much prefer the latter silver scheme which will be mass produced. I think only the hard core collector will be buying the colour version. Also, I assume the colour scheme versions are a little more costly to produce.

I never understand why Toywaves kept that "Getter set" as pre-order for years, unless the HK local manufacture decided to do so like they did for the 1901 Mazinger set.

Aoshima is worst than Yamato when it comes to cash grab. I wish they can just get on with it and give us Getter 2 & 3 and Dragon Getters.

I saw that Fewture Boss Borot color version is out ( Toywave has it) and was wondering why its not up anywhere else I mean HLJ doesn't have it up for pre-order just the silver version and I didn't see it up at BBTS. Why the two versions anyway? I don't think that fans are as excited about BB or Doublas as they were for the Getters or Mazinger. The Mazingers are a must have for me. I 'm just waiting for the moment they're up for pre-order. Also wondering if the Getters are being released as set. Toywave has that on the site as a pre-order that is soon to be released. Speaking of Getters whats the deal with Aoshima and the caped Getter. i mean why not just sell the cape as separate accessory. Doesn't seem to be worth it as a consumer to buy another Getter just for the cape/cloak.

edit:

this guys auctions shows some interesting pcis of the boss borot

due to a baby coming in 3 weeks and the resulting drop to one income I'll only be able to get one.. after much deliberating I think I'll pick the Mazinkaizer. and in 2 years when the price has tripled I'll punch myself in the head.

edit: 3 months, not 3 weeks. almost wet myself in a panic when I read that.

So heres what I've been thinking about for weeks now. See I think that the Fewture Getters are truly fantastic.

I'm looking forward to the Mazinger and Great Mazinger. I'll be getting them.

Now I just can't seem to get excited about either the Boss Borot or Doublas color versions.

I thought wow these will be great and then saw the final product and you know at 1st it was cool but then the more

I studied them over and over the less I've come to like them. i dont really know what it is that i don't like.

I'm leaning towards the design more and more as being what i don't like.

Borot has a funny shaped head that really strays away from the borot that I like and the doublas had this incredible overbite that just reminds of a kid who needs braces right away.

I'm thinking also that those colors are just to harsh for me. Tthe orange and the purple just dont work for me.

I like them a lot more in the silver versions. thinking I'll just get those . so I guess its mostly the colors that i don't like

Now I'm wondering should i just get them because they'll be really expensive later on or just let them go?

Anyone notice something? In the black and white sketches for the Fewture Mazingers, Mazinger Z is supposed to have the same "machine guns" on his arms like Great Mazinger. But for the actual figs in the photos, he's missing those machine guns.

Here's a link or two..

Actually, when Sato was designing these EXGohkin figures (including the Mazinger 1901 & the Getters), he was thinking of what would these super robots look like if they were built during the industrial revolution. And to his credit, when I saw the silver Borot the first time, I could help but see smoke and steam coming out of that baby. Go to this page if you want to read more about Sato's thoughts on his own ExGokins: Professor Robot

i dont really know what it is that i don't like.

Jeeg's looking good. I'm guessing that's the New Jeeg. Not the old one. God Mars! Very nice. The one on the right.... ah.. have no idea what that is from...

Wait.... OH! It's the external armour that is used by the main character from the Nadesico Movie Prince of Darkness. His mech will fit inside too. That's pretty sweet. I like the Nadesico mechs.

Bainkafu looks friggen incredible and I've never heard of beore yesterday but now want to check it out... Iron Gear looks incredible as well... I'm debating adding both to my huge list of preordered stuff from HLJ.

I cannot see the appeal behind Raideen at all... I'm too young to have been a Super Robot kid at all, but the designs of Mazinger and the various Getters have grown on my some, but something like Raideen just looks ridiculous to me. I'll stick to my VOTOMS thank you very much.

With all these awesome new stuff coming out....I am speechless :o

Maybe one comment: why didn't they do the original Jeeg? It is one of the few remaining old fashion super robot missing from most collector's wishlist for gokins.

Godmars does look almost like the original release. I wonder Jeeg has magnet joints. I kinda hope not.

The only good thing I see out of this is that, when they do get to the classic Jeeg, they'll have perfected the magnetic joints design by using the Shin Jeeg as a test bed. Hope they'll pull off the same stunt like they did with the Spec Dragonar, making both the classic & updated version. We can only hope.

Hey Guys, looks like HLJ might not take order for the EX-Gokin Mazinger. This is what 95sihb wrote on Robot Japan:

Link

"Dear Eric,

Both items are Fewture Direct exclusives only. HobbyLink Japan does not carry items that are exclusive to any store, website, magazine, or convention.

Thanks for writing. 08/15/2007

Better start look for alternative if you are after pre-order purchase.

bad news about the hlj thing.. could mean we end up getting shafted for at least a third more than what we'd pay on hlj. :(

You guys might be misinterpreting the email from that post... HLJ carried the non-exclusive Getters, I don't remember them having the exclusive Black Getter though but maybe they did... The Mazinger and Great Maz were announced to have a non exclusive full production run, so the slightly lower MSRP as well. IIRC, the "non-silver" (or non-anime recolor) Boss and Dabulas were the context of that email from that RJ member, and HLJ is taking preorders for the silver Boss Borot and Dabulas but not the anime accurate versions (which is believed to be the exclusives). It's just odd that the anime re-colors would be the exclusives, but understandable since these technically aren't based on any anime, but Sato's imagination of what these would look like in an industrial age.
