parts for Bandai 1/55 scale VF1S

I have just picked up an 80`s VF1S complete in the box except the gun. Now finding a gun could be hard so I thought of doing a resin cast of one. I have the Jetfire gun already on my Jetfire and that is practically the same.

But before I go out and make a mould and resincast has anyone else already done this, if they have do you still have the mould and would you be willing to make one for me. While Im at it has anyone made any of the armor for the same model, as this one has no armor I was thinking of making some for display is this a good idea or should I run away now and just keep to the Hasegawa kits. :D

wouldn't it be easier to get a bootleg valk? The guns on some of those are just as good, better than a recast. Or just go to the wanted section and put up an ad for an original gun.

yeah, what he said. It seems to be pretty easy to find an original gun these days. If not them reissues is just as good too.

80's 1s... which 1s? taka? Cut your losses, run away now, I'll find something woth trading you that is less effort. Heck, I'll happily trade you a working gun and a "spruce" of missles for the box+insert it came in if your gonna put it on display. Check out MY wanted post LOL. Very little point in recasting a gun. To many reissues with working springs mass produced to make it usefull for a small time recaster. Now if you need an actuall vintage gun or armor/fast packs to paint... either way you should give me a PM

oh yeah... bobe! you still owe me for that heat shield

That price seems pretty steep to me.

If your patient you might be able to come across one for $80.00 to $100.00 US.

Just keep looking.

don't forget the $ he would save on shipping... it might actually be a fair deal. Just inspect it closely and make sure it's mint.

I was thinking about that too. You can only buy the Max reissue from Hong Kong sellers and with shipping it can excced the US$120 price of my local hobby shop.

They also have the Hikaru and brown reissues at the same price, they might not know the Max and Miria have more collectable value.

at least you know which to buy LOL. You should probably pick up some cheap ones from ebay and sell them to the store for a lot less than they are charging. you both make money... which cuts down on how much the max actually costs you out of pocket ;)

Thanks to everyone for your replys when it arrives i will check to see if it has the missles and make sure that it still has everyting else in tip top condition else it will be a prime candidate for a subtle mod.

On the side of the Bandai reissues. All you guys are in the U.S.A right ?/!

The prices for these things are insane. Its the one thing that annoys me about collection Macross/Robotech stuff. Recently I was in Tokyo for two weeks. I couldnt belive the prices of some of the stuff. Those reissues are selling for 3000 Yen wich when i was there was about £20 the only place that I have found in the U.K that sells them charges £60 as for the 1/48 scale Yamoto well get your self to the bank for those babies. The DYRL Hikaru 1/65 is £18 over there and recently I know some one who sold one for £65. The shop I go to actually is owned by two Japanesse guys. They regularly go to Japan to buy stocks and actually go to the same shops I do. They have a service where you can ask for a particular item and they have buyers in Japan look for it for you.

Its the postage and import taxes that kill it for us all.

Im going back early next year and comming back with a case full of Macross.

I have a friend who lives in Tokyo who is seriously thinking of giving up his job just to export Macross Gundamm and computer games to the U.K as the demand is massive.

I am seriously thinking of joining him.

I m gonna write a guide to macross in Tokyo as soon as I get time.

Actually the bootleg guns suck. They have poor texture and are molded backwards (the screws are on the wrong side). They are okay to use for building a custom collapsible gunpod but other than that they suck pretty badly IMHO.

Now this is going to show how long I have been a lurker but there used to be a member by the name of VF-1X If I remeber correctly. He specialized in 1/55 parts and car stuff. He even used to have a parts site up but it is long gone I think. I haven't seen him aropund in a long time but if someone can get you in contact with him maybe he has some leftover goodies. Good luck though and if we ever run accross another 1/55 parts dealer I need a couple of thing for my Jetfire.

what are you looking for for your jetfire?

323979[/snapback]

I was gonna ask the same thing LOL. I'm always willing to help one become whole again... just ask my legion.

don't quote me on this, but VF-1X might be driving a truck for extended periods banking up. I think it was VF-1X who sold me my tree maxx spawn figs moc just before he took off but it could have been somebody else. I know I had some dealings with VF-1X but with the passage of time all the wheeling and dealing tends to become a blur. HEck... I can't even remember what I got from phatslappy, although I'm pretty sure I got something at somepoint somewhere

Well at the moment im looking for a gun. but im hopefully gonna take delivery of a Jetfire and another one that is incomplete so i will probably need a few bits to make it whole again. These two Jetfires are gonna be customs possibly a cannonfodder and a twinseater trainer if I do get to make them I will need to get the proper heads for them.

Man, I can't believe I'm saying this as I still have a few Jetfires laying around that I bought around 1999-2000 for someday customs, but man, save the poor tranny and use a reissue for a custom, unless of course they are all yellowed to poo and broken.

Poo?!?!? was that an option?

a few jetfires you were planning on making into customs. Don't feel bad. I have way more than a few I simply need to assemble from my parts bin. I guess I was a little to successful in my 1/55 parts drive as it seems like every time I get one assembled and 100% another two worth of parts come in the mail  . SPeaking of which... I should pm that guy...

seriously... better modding a re-issue than a jetfire. Besides the fact you should restore it to 100% before you custom it [which can be a royal pain if you don't have a massive parts bin] but you still have the jetfire blunt nose. I do love my jetfires mind you, but a blunt nose is a blunt nose. Thats why taka's make better lawn darts than jetfire  . Until you mount broadheads in the nose anyways

Well I have an orginal Jetfire from the first issue of this Transformer all of the transformers are sacrid as far as Im concerned I have mixed feelings about modding these two but there are a number of bits missing namely the strike pack parts. I do have some of the parts to make on up but Im thinking i should keep them for my original one just in case. I remember that somone on this forum was making replacement heads and cockpits is there anyone who makes taka type noses ?? If not like you say I should restore them to original Transformers spec. a little paint and new stickers ( i can do the stickers ) a few detail upgrades and some more armor and bingo. one better than new Jetfire.

LePoseur and kanata67 you are right really they are Macross of a sort in their own right, after all Hasbro had to pay much cudoss to Bandai for using it. Marvel and SunBow couldnt use Jetfire in the Comics or Cartoons so they invented Skyfire similar enough to sell the Jetfire toy but not enough to upset Macross owners and interested parties. Fasa got sat on quite hard for using the Vf1 and Spartan, Raider X and a few others in Mechwarrior BoardGames. So I should do them the honor of keeping them original.

When you say reissue do you mean the ones that are available still now in the shops ?

reissue... something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/BANDAI-Macross-1-55-VF...1QQcmdZViewItem

you can still get the re-issue super with fast packs for around 80 http://cgi.ebay.com/VF-1S-Bandai-Super-Mac...1QQcmdZViewItem

check out ebay and different store and you can find them pretty cheap. Cheaper than a jetfire in similar condition plus they come with working guns.

I'd avoid picking a reissue up in a "shop" as from what I've seen and heard most local stores mark them up at least 100% and sometimes more. The $35 cannon fodder has been spotted at $115.00 ?!?!?

you can also check the for sale section here at MW as there are often really good deals to be had. In fact somebody is currently selling a complete set of reissues.

as for taka style noses for jetfires... they have been made although are hard to find now-a-days. Thankfully all parts between a jetfire and a 1/55 are fully swapable, from arms to heads, legs to landing gear. There are a couple exceptions such as you can't swap only half the nose cone [go figure] and when doing a 1s head swap with anyother head you must swap neckplates as well, but aside from those issues you should have no issues. One of these days I'll be posting a complete step-by-step 1/55+jetfire repair manual / parts breakdown. I'll get around to it... honest  . It's been half done for over a year already

A few years ago Takatoys did an awesome nosecone for the 1/55. This was before Yamato even stepped up to the plate to make VF-1's.

I still have one waiting for me to put together with a custom 1S head back when I was looking at an ultimate 1/55 (never did get around to have a Fulcy do a hip mod for it though). Takatoys' nose was nice (but looks like the page is down http://hometown.aol.com/amabrich/myhomepage/sale.html ), but I'm not sure about your luck in finding one now. You might want to shoot him a PM and see if he has any left as they really look excellent.

If you go that route, well, it might be worth losing a jetfire.:o
