Hey guys!

Recommended Posts

Back in the 3rd of November 2004 I left you all for Basic at RTC Great Lakes up here in sunny Illinois.

Well, I'm pleased to say that I have graduated last Thursday and we have 4 days of Liberty which kicks ass. I spent lots of money on games and DVDs for my little brother to take back home with him, which he should be home already playing MGS 3, Ace Combat 5 and watching the recent volumes of Gundam SEED and the first Inuyasha movie that I bought him for Christmas. Right now I'm waiting for my orders to go to Pensacola to train to become and AO for 4 weeks. Well, I'll catch you guys later. Oh it feels so good even though my family had to leave and I had to report in early last night and leave my family 4 hours early. :(

Navy, huh? Congrats on making it through basic. Must've been cold as hell up there in this time of year.

What's the saying? "Big grey and underway"...? Also, it has been my experience with AOs, both Marine and Navy, that they tend to be a rowdy, but tight-knit group :p

Great, just what we need, another squid... :p Seriously, without you and your boats, we Marines wouldn't have any transportation to get to where we can kill lots of bad guys. Have fun in the Navy and take advantage of everything they have to offer you. And when did the Navy start calling their boot camp basic? You sailors should know better...

Some quick tips (probably too soon) before your 1st float/cruise, but this was from my experience on a CV/CVN:

a. Pack some extra toilet paper. I'm not kidding. That stuff is gold. Seriously, I am not kidding.

b. Extra bars of soap. Once that bar of soap falls onto the head's deck or in the showers, forget it, even if it's brand new.

c. Have shower shoes/rubber slippers/chinelas(sp?), especially for the showers.

Why the fuss with b & c for the showers? Watch out for the Jellyfish... especially once you've been out at sea long enough

P.S.--- SKs are your friends. Treat them well. Oh, and the Flightline is a place, not a cord you get from a shop.

also if anyone asks you to get some jet wash to clean an jet they are trying to send you on a goose chase. same thing with the flightline mentioned above.

we had one guy ,who had an uncle in civil engineering, who got sent to get some flightline. he called his uncle and had a concrete repair slab delivered to the squadron. noone was sent to get flightline ever again. true story.

Hey guys. Hehehe, I know about some of the tricks, I'm especially wary about the "Go paint the centerline." The instructors told us about some pranks. Well, my liberty ends in about two hours and over these 4 days of liberty I have spent nearly 600 dollars.

I look forward to building kits again, but I don't think it's any time soon. The one place I really want to go overseas is Japan. Right now I'm thinking about how I should sneak some manga back into the barracks, hopefully the OOD isn't around or just tells us to lift our pant legs. Either way, I'm gonna get it in damn it. I tried to sneak some sleezy porno pics in by sticking them in my feet, but I forgot that my feet sweat and the pictures were ruined.

Well, my laptop will be on hold thanks to my financial situation although we got a 3% raise on the 1st and I get paid again on the 15th and I'm gonna work on getting a PS2 thin. Well, I'll get in touch with you guys later on. :)

Welcome to the Fraternal Brotherhood of the Armed Services. I recently seperated from the Air Force. I was stationed at MacDill AFB, Tampa FL. Home of many current commands involved in activites overseas....

I had a blast in the military. While at MacDill AFB, I met numerous heads of state, various foriegn flag officers, and I got to met almost all of the current cabinet of the President of the United States of America (powell, rumsfield, rice, myers, etc.) I also got to met and serve under some of the best officers in the military.

Have a Blast, but be wary of spending all of your money, you will end up like some of the people I knew in the barracks... nice stuff but no money! Also be wary of the PX/BX credit card!!!! don't know how many people got in trouble with that damn thing!

Have fun, take lots of pictures, make new friends, and enjoy it!

Hmm...well, now I'm at NATTC Pensacola, just chilling on Liberty. I bought myself a Nintendo DS recently and a few GBA games, and this thing is P-I-M-P!!! The MWR rocks but it's not fully operational because of the hurricanc that smashed the place, the school house I have to learn my stuff in is still under repairs. Anyways...about money...ahem...now I'm down to 43 bucks... :o:lol: Well, next Friday I get paid again so....mo' money!

Well it seems you have learned finance rule #1 in the "Code of Squid conduct". . .

Rule #1 "The best way to live??? Why payday to payday of course! ! !"

Other rules are. . . .

Rule #2 "Always buy clean skivvies each payday, before you go out on liberty! ! !"

Rule #3 "Never borrow from a guy who never leaves the ship, cause he knows where you live! ! !"

Rule #4 "The ship's ATM is a blessing, either it can get you out on liberty faster or it's like that second bank account you forget about till you go other ports. . ." ;)

I can pass on other "Nuggets of Navy Knowledge" to you from time to time if you need them. . . B))

A laptop w/ a binder of DVD's = your best friends.

At least a potable dvd player.

A Game Boy is also invaluable. Great decision picking up a DS.

Also, there is no Mailbag to catch, nor is there a Starbucks.

Also, screw AAFES! I hated AAFES.

I feel the urge to stress the importance of saving a little - mainly because my dad has been bugging me alot about it. When he was a young officer, he blew his money on alot of un-important things, and, being married right out of college, it took him several years to get out of debt.

There should be some financing-info-sources available to you, and they should be talking to you about it. I know I've had like 6 brieffings at my NROTC battalion about it, so it seems like the military is taking more notice about it than in my father's time.

AAFES jacks their prices. AAFES price for a bulb for my projector 210 dollars, Hitachi price from main site 170 dollars.

they never get anything in on time either. new games and movies come out sometimes you can be waiting weeks or months for AAFES to get it. Only the largest most overblown movie/Game releases are in on time. i had to order KOTOR 2 off ebay and its been out for almost a month now
