I like both series, though I must admit FF has been wearing thin on me lately. Too many games coming out, one right after the other, with weaker plots, and less enduring characters. I mean, we're already seeing trailers for Final Fantasy 13, when 12 isn't even out yet! I'm less and less excited about FF these days. I hope that Sakaguchi's new studio, Mistwalker, shows some excellent new games. Studio founded by the man who created FF, with Uematsu and Amano signed on for freelance work. Sounds good to me. Zelda, on the other hand, tends to be infrequent enough between games, that I'm always happy to see a new one. And with the latest boasting the Wii's controller, which I'm very excited about, Twilight Princess is far and away a more exciting prospect than the newest FF games, in my own personal opinion. Even so, I plan on picking up both FF3 and Phantom Hourglass for the DS.

hehe, wait till your married, I thought my job paid well, till now 421363[/snapback] Eeeeeeee, tell me about it. I used to have a very healthy savings and little to no debt for my meager income, but since I got engaged and began sharing income with my fiancee...well, I'm about as much in the hole as I used to have in savings. Mostly wedding costs. Still, ordered a cannon fodder 1/48 and the new low vis GBP armour, and plan to order the YF-19 once its released. Other than that, despite some I'd love to get like Kakizake and the VF-0A, I may hold off until next year. Two or three Valkyries a year isn't too much to ask, is it?
-
Payment sent! Decided on an extra sheet of the VF-1/VF-0 stickers since I'll definitely grab a VF-0A and I'll likely grab Kakizake to finish out my Skull Squadron.

Has thought of comparing these $130 toys to those $6 toys we bought as a kid? Taking inflation into account as well? Did the old Bandai and Takatoku's ever sell for $6USD? Call me crazy, but I think that part of the reason these toys cost so much is how expensive they are to design and produce.

That's the never produced Beast Wars Neo Unicron.
-
No, the G1 Unicron toy makes the G1 Unicron toy look like a joke. The Armada just makes us thankful it never came into being. However, Beast Wars Neo Unicron makes the Armada Unicron look like a joke, and that's the saddest part of all.

I like this colour scheme, I'm fine with it. However, does this being the 'official' colour scheme rule out the possibility of anime-accurate varients down the road? I mean, point me to the episodes of SDF where the Stealth 1J makes its appearance, or the low-vis cannon fodder.

Wow. Just Wow. I really hope Yamato reconsiders their stance on the VF-11 and gives it the 1/60 treatment, as well as the YF-21.
-
I'm guessing the VF-1/VF-0 sheet is enough for two toys, right? Not overlapping on the stickers used? If you're still taking orders, I've recently ordered a 1/48 Cannon Fodder and the low-vis GBP, and I've got a VF-0 sitting on my desk that I've no plans to taint with Yamato's own stickers.

You know, I'd actually probably buy both versions of MP Starscream. The first, because it is more like the old Starscream's look. The second because it's a badass improvement on the old design. Just like I'd buy a new version of MP Prime based on the Kawamori design used for the Hybrid Prime toy.

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
Radd replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, Funinmation, as far as I know, has dropped their practices of released edited anime and then refusing to make the uncut works available. They've also released some interesting titles like 'Galaxy Railways' now. They're no longer even close to being the worst of the bunch, that title is reserved for 4Kidz/Fox. -
I didn't buy Hybrid Prime, not my cup of tea. Robot mode looks fantastic, Truck mode less so but I imagine it's because of the small size of the toy. You know, though, I kinda wish they'd take the design of Hybrid Prime, and make an MP version. Same size as the old MP Prime we all know and love, making use of the extra size to get the truck mode right. THAT would look fantastic next to this Starscream.

You know maybe, just maybe, some people actually like how this toy is turning out, and they do because they personally think it looks fantastic and not because of some irrational devotion to some guy in Japan they've never even met. Woah, crazy concept, huh? You know, finally seeing the colour scheme myself, I actually like it quite a bit. If anything, I'm horribly dissapointed that MP Prime doesn't look nearly as good next to this Starscream. You know what else? I feel this way because I actually, honestly like the design. And the real kicker, I don't like every single design Kawamori kicks out. I dislike the mecha in Eureka 7, and absolutely despise his designs from Aquarion. Finally, and this might completely blow the minds of some people, but I sincerely doubt that Kawamori is forcing this revision of the character onto Takara. I imagine, in my crazy, messed up vision of reality, that Takara is quite possibly paying Kawamori money to make this toy, and maybe even preferes this version. I also imagine, in my mind, that if Takara did not like it, they would have said "no, thank you" and stuck to the first incarnation we'd all seen. I know, I'm crazy right?

An impressed "Wow." is usually the first thing, or an awed, "Awwwww yeah!". This is usually followed by a geeky trip down memory lane as the visitor remembers Transformers, Macross, or Robotech from their childhood, and then, "Where can I get something like that?"

I must be in the minority, I prefere the vehicle parts remain in some form, rather than magically dissapearing, or parts swapping. I have no problem with the tail fins on the legs, or the hips.

People, by their very nature, tend to be conformists, lashing out at anything even vaguely different from the "norm". Particulary fat or ugly, people tend to already be ousted from society and therefore less restrained by the status quo. I mean, heck, if you're already mocked and alone, you might as well have fun with it.

Pretty much all the worst critisism I've seen have been that it's exactly what it sets out to be, the middle movie in a trilogy. I loved it, quite a bit. I'm eagerly anticipating the third movie.

Would I buy HD-DVD or BluRay for a High-Def transfer of DYRL or M+? In short, no. Look to JBO's on-topic posts for a longer explanation. I agree completely. I'd also like to add, that High-Def is not neccessarily a good thing for older movies, like M+ and DYRL. A high-def transfer may only succeeding in making both movies look worse.

I thought Basara basically blasted his music on all channels he could, and the speaker pods were to force people to listen even if they switched off communications except for protected channels.
-
Hmm, I wonder how the GBP looks on the stealth 1J? Or maybe these new low-vis colours. Hmm, still, the old GBP would probably look better with the stealth.
-
Ack! Should I get this and a cannon-fodder 1A, or should I get the original colour scheme with a VF-1J? Man, I dunno. Of course, the VF-1J is probably my least favourite (not including the tv version of the VF-1A). Still, I have a 1S and two 1As already, and no 1Js...

Fantastic ending to a Fantastic show. According to my fiancee, in the novels it was explained that her hair was just too short at the time to wear a pony tail comfortably, so she went back to the other look at least until it had grown out more.

I would would say that the passion behind the singing is the spiritua, as well as the passion one feels simply listening to music. Being around people creating that energy also stimulates people to create more on their own. I don't know that "sonic energy" is a correct term, as it's not the sound itself that creates the energy, but the feeling behind it. I also don't know that "certain individuals" only have the ability to create the energy that Basara and Mylene are able to, it's more of a state of mind thing. There is nothing that seperates Basara or Mylene from anyone else in regards to this ability aside from ideals, beliefs, and pure will. As shown right towards the end of the show itself, anyone can do it.
-
But there is a living person, in the vicinity, giving off spiritua. It's like, do you get more energized by music when you sit and listen to it alone, or when you hear a band play at a concert, even if mostly what you're hearing comes from what's been broken down and transmitted to the speakers? The more people involved, the greater the effect.
