Oh, I've no idea. I never went through a stage where I thought I had to stop getting toys.

Yeah, really it's the gamer that gets the raw end of all this when everything is said and done.

Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return

I generally take toy news with a hefty grain of salt until I see photos. If MP-05 is Megatron as a gun, well, I'll have to import the Japanese version I imagine. -
Seems like it's mostly impressions, though there's definitely some neat info there. Also a few rather silly comments.

Ah, I see, so Lik-sang had signed an agreement not to sell PSPs to the UK. Alright.

Argh, I'm getting married on the 28th. Now I need to find a way to sneak out to Toys 'R Us the morning after.
-
And the first line that pops into my head is, "What the hell is an aluminum falcon?!"

From everything I've read on the subject, this does indeed seem more like Harmony Gold telling importers they can't sell Yamato toys in the U.S., and not really like "HG selling Macross 7 and Plus stuff tomorrow and being told by Japan their license doesn't cover that and doing it anyways for years." Is there a clear source on just what Lik-sang was sued over? Everywhere I read it seems to be import PSPs in Europe. Also, is there a clear source on whether this was illegal? I've heard this is unclear and that the reason the court ruled against Lik-sang was that they did not appear in court, and not an actual judgement on the legality.

Heh, I DO have the reissue G1 Hot Rod. I dunno, I've always been a fan of the character. Too bad Rodimus went from Awesome, to Whingey-Emoboy immeadiately after the movie. -

Wife-to-be (4 days!) picked up Rodimus and Starscream for me. Even she commented on how cheap Starscream looks. Rodimus looks better, but is less posable. I hate the projectile for Rodimus' gun, though. I always hate clear plastic 'laser' or 'flame' projectiles for toys. They always look terrible. Really I'd rather they make the gun look better without the projectile gimmick. Still, at 10 bucks a pop these are nice. I love how posable SS is, though the inability to angle his wings back kind of hinders that. For both, outside of MP Starscream and Alternators Rodimus, these have to be the best incarnations of these characters in toy form, ever. The sooner Alternators Rodimus joins the ranks on my shelves, though, the sooner I'll be a very happy collector. I'm still iffy on whether I'll import MP SS, or wait for a Hasbro release. I'm skeptical that Hasbro will do a "better" colour scheme, but I'm also worried about the reports of how fragile MP SS is. On the other hand, I've heard people make comparisons to the 1/48 Valkyrie backpack hinges and I've never had any problem with those. So it's possible the worries are exaggerated. -
New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid

Especially Rick Hunter. -
Heh, that's too bad. Tag&Bink is about all the non-movie Star Wars I still like these days. I even went back and re-read some of my old favourites, really popular EU titles, and everything I remember liking as a teenager fell flat with me now. But I love Tag&Bink.

Sony PS3 actually does cost less than the Xbox 360.....according to Sony. http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/19/sony-cl...thus-costs-700/

Heh, I might just nab this even though I have all the individual comics. Fantastic work. Just quality through and through. I hope you guys get together and do more comics of this caliber in the future, even if it doesn't feature my two favourite Star Wars characters. What you need to do is get Lucas good and drunk, and pitch the idea of a Tag&Bink animated series to him. That, or do a comic about getting Lucas good and drunk to pitch a Tag&Bink series to him. That might be equally entertaining.

I've been spoiled by Transformers the movie and Gao Gai Gar. I can't help but hold my wacky robot hijinks to that level. -

So far, my biggest complaint with the Classics line is just that they look so cheap, mainly due to the cheap looking colouring job. Greys instead of silvers, yellows instead of bronze or gold. Oberly bright reds and blues. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be grabbing a bunch of these, but I do wish the colouring had been better. -
I seem to be in the minority, but I vasty prefere the 1/48 in battroid mode, to the 1/60's battroid. None of the issues most people have with the 1/48 battroid bother me in the slightest, it has far superior detail, and the 1/60s bulging hips just look awful. Single worst design decision Yamato has ever made, even ignoring the lack of perfect transformation.

Would You Buy A New Perfect Variable 1/60 Vf-1?
Radd replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
Well, the bulbous canopy seemed lineart accureate to me, as did the swoop of the nose. Looking at my Macross Design works, can't really say it's "exaggerated" if that's how it looks in the official lineart. I will agree that a more accurate, 1/60 scale VF-1 would be nice, to go with all the new 1/60 scale variable fighters coming out. I've always disliked that the 1/60 VF-1 was not perfect transformation, and that reason they supposedly made it that way was to get rid of the swing bars....and then they added those bulbous tumour-hips that actually look WORSE than swing bars. Still, I also gotta agree with Graham. There are just so many other things I'd rather see than yet another VF-1 toy. -
I'll be dressed in a tuxedo for Halloween, and throwing a big bash with all of my relatives, and my fiancee's relatives, coming into town. Should be fun.

Yanno, I expected Snakes on a Plane would spawn a horde of studios trying to immitate by playing up the same B-movie cheese...but I didn't expect the immitators to be lacking in imagination quite so much. Congrats, Hollywood, you've reached a new low!
-
Yeah, consoles are more expensive and don't include a pack-in now. Ouch. I wonder if Sony will include a BD demo disk, at the very least? A movie would be nice, but there's a lot of crappy movies out there. Then again, something like one of the Spider~Man movies would be pretty nice.

Transformer Starscream Masterpiece has arrived!
Radd replied to kentgh's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wrong on the "unprecedented" part. G1-G2 Megatron. Silver face with white-ish grey helmet in the G1 colour scheme, replaced with a purple face and a bronze-ish helmet with the G2 tank colourscheme. The colourschemes between the toys and the cartoon have always been different, and there are differences between the cartoon and comic book colour schemes (Megatron's colour scheme in the comic is from an earlier design for the cartoon that wound up never being used). -

I hate to say it, but that Soundwave looks crap. I think I'd actually prefere the original. I'm fairly certain I would. -
Er, now you're making stuff up, and if you can't see how what you just said, and what I just said are different, we may be at an impasse in conversation. What I said was more like, it's like you wanting to buy another Valk, but $150 is the maximum you're willing to spend. You look, and see several for $200 and a couple others that are $350 (This is a terrible, fictional world, where 1/48ths are going for this much). You're not willing to spend more than $150, so it doesn't matter that the $200 1/48ths are less than the $350 1/48ths, it's still more than you're willing to spend.

Radd replied to kentgh's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, the toy has a noticibly bronze-ish face, the pictures are accurate. It's not unreasonable to suspect Takara might give Thundercracker and Skywarp actual silver faces, rather than Starscream's bronze look.
