Hey, a 1/48 is cool and all, more details and bigger bird and such, don't you guys have a fondness for the smaller, more convenient 1/72s that don't eat up all your shelf space and can instead fit in with a squadron of other 1/72s? Having a squad of 1/48s just seems unmanageable.

Why Should Expensive Macross Toys Be Transformable At All?
Cent replied to Cyclone Trooper's topic in Toys
If you buy toys to collect and then sell later and never take them out of the box... Why not just spend your time and money investing instead? There's really no difference in collecting toys as opposed to something like stamps in this case. There are other collectibles that appreciate in value faster than toys, and would fetch a greater sum overall... To collect toys purely for monetary gain seems pretty futile, and to keep it in the box, you're really not getting any other form of utility out of it by purchasing it. You mind as well sit at a store and fondle the box for free. -
It didn't HAVE to be macross, I was just saying his collectibles in general.

Don't you see, Schiz, you ARE the kid in this scenario and you should think about how toys were passed down to you from your father as you grew up.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title

I wasn't really all that impressed with Bale's work in Batman. Furthermore, his face was covered most of the time for Batman, which isn't the case for Terminator. Bale's outbreak didn't change anything in the way I saw him at all. People have ragefits, it happens. -
Why Should Expensive Macross Toys Be Transformable At All?
Cent replied to Cyclone Trooper's topic in Toys
I take my Yamatos out of the box and swoosh them around a bit, but I rarely transform them and instead tend to display them for lengthy periods of time in fighter mode. While I certainly wouldn't mind having the option to buy high quality fighter-only toys, I think that the ability to perfectly and sensibly transform gives my collectibles a charm and uniqueness that isn't matched by other toys or series. Macross just isnt macross without its style of transformations, and the same goes for the toy. Even if I'll never transform them, the idea that my toy CAN transform is a huge plus worth paying for. -
Quickly, someone cast him in as Sara for a live action Macross Zero!

Considering how cool it looks and how much extra plastic it comes with? Probably has its own stand too. I'm not surprised by the price tag, and would still gladly buy one. -
WAit this is real? o_O

Despite their 'read only' nonsense, which would put him in a state of permanent short term memory loss, I assumed what they were still trying to say was that Skynet had already thought about a Terminator's individual capability to 'think' and deemed that too dangerous and would have stemmed it right off the production line. I guess not . Silly skynet, making the mistakes of the humans that made it.

Well they say that only organic matter can be sent back in time... So the terminators sent back MUST be covered in artificial flesh, otherwise they won't go through. The exception seems to be the T-1000's who mold themselves to create an exterior that can mimic this effect. And I assume that's why the T-1000 in T2, the Terminator in T3 and Weaver can all do that. I would also assume that she would retract her clothes back into herself as she goes through time, so it doesn't get disintegrated like clothing... which would also explain why she's naked on the other end. However, whatever the case, the metal that makes up the T-1000 seems to still COUNT as organic matter, so whether its formed as clothing or not around her, it'll go through time without issue. I would assume that Cameron didn't go through since she wasn't perfectly covered (had parts of her internals exposed) Also, I doubt the T-1000 needs clothes. I think they're sufficiently capable of emulating clothing behaviour like stretching, folds, wrinkles on their own.

I went back and watched a bit of T2 I noticed that the CPU is far better protected on the T-800, and not so easily accessed like on Cameron, and the other T-888s. In fact, it'd be pretty hard to get the chip out with just a knife. And the other thing was, Skynet set their CPUs on read-only... which meant that skynet was aware of the possibility of the Terminators growing out of their control. I guess it happened anyway, despite their precaution.

personally, it didn't seem like the eel added anything to Weaver's capabilities when it merged with her. But we do know that each part of the T-1000 is capable of acting independently, since they can move themselves back together ala Terminator 2. So it leads me to believe that Weaver leaves an inconspicuous part of her monitoring her office for security reasons. Since that wasn't going to be necessary anymore, I can understand why she'd take it with her now that she was leaving. What still bugs me though is how many people Weaver killed to get John Henry online... And what was the point of her killing off the guys at the power plant many episodes ago? How does that even cultivate John Henry's development? Her becoming a 'good' character didn't even seem remotely possible until the previous 5 episodes. Have the T-1000s grown to such a point where they develop morality? Kind of strange, since the T-1000 exhibited no remorse whatsoever. Regardless, the T-1000 onboard the nuclear sub declined the offer to join forces with humanity, so it seems strange that Weaver, another T-1000 sent back, is in favor of helping them... Either Weaver is of a different faction of T-1000's, or she was sent back in time earlier and never got the memo. Lol. Anyway, this whole series has derailed from Terminator Salvation and is on its own arc. With alternate futures and alternate pasts... and time machines that never specific which alternate future or past you're fighting for, its already incredibly messed up. Interesting, but it just tells me that no matter what John does or doesn't do, there will be an alternate future where humanity is saved, and another where humanity is lost.

......... But the VF-17 was also part of VFX as well?

When did you first realise how cool Macross is??

It doesn't cant out as far in the lineart. But I guess thats just being picky. You could always just not fold them out as far and it'd work =P -
Yea, seto has captured my question precisely. I know about the YF-21 jettison, but those were damaged areas that didn't interfere with transformation. The YF-21 design made a lot more sense that way (reducing the number of areas required to to fold during transformation) but is a lot less cool. =P

Has macross ever shown a case in which a transformation fails because of extensive damage to the structure of the VF? And in that case, would the transformation lead to even greater damage? Considering how quickly transformations happen, and the number of moving parts involved, you'd think it would be a very precise and delicate process, despite how much technology or designing is involved. Just one stray shot that knocks a part out of place, and that transformation is no longer going to be so smooth.

I cant remember where it was on these boards, but this was the picture. Sorry its not that big. http://www.flickr.com/photos/busterbeam/3369270781/ (you can click the all sizes button to make it bigger.) Speaking of which, has anyone tried to PAINT the red and black decal stripes along the fuselage of the VF-25? The area next to the cockpit especially, even with clearcoat, gets easily work down and shredded by transformations as well as the upper hip intakes rubbing against it in battroid. If you clear coat that area too much, then it'll create a gap between the sides and the cockpit, and clear coating up the edge only does so much, since the lip of the decal is still sorta exposed. I was thinking of using some tape and painting those specific parts separately, if only just for those areas. My concerns are with color matching (with the rest of the red decals), as well as the durability of paint, as even that may wear down (although not as badly as a decal). The other real rub spot that shreds decals are the grey areas on the kneecaps, especially going to Gerwalk. I really like the model kits accuracy, but this is probably the one thing thats keeping me from switching it from fighter to battroid more than once. -
Make that VF-17 already. God knows when Bandai will get around to redoing it. Even their 1/100 line is going to release a VF-19 and a bunch more VF-25 variants before they get to anything else. as for the VF-0D, I really can't believe its taking this long, considering its similarity to the VF-0s, which have been reissued several times now. I expect them to release it, but there really isn't any good reason it should take this long. They could have completed the design for it in between the time it took to change the VF-11's macross kite colors. They really oughta bolster their VFX line a little, that Koenig is pretty lonely out there. Or hell, finish off the Mac Plus line with a Ghost Fighter. Cheap, easy to produce, and no bigger than the ghost booster pack for the VF-0s. All wishful thinking though

Tell her if you get rid of the boxes, then when she wants you to get rid of your valk collection later on, it'll be even harder to do without the boxes

Yea I dont remember the VF-25G with the armor pack either, but I'd just rather have a 25G rather than a 25S. If I could help it, I would have ordered the Armor packs standalone and gotten a 25G if they weren't going to offer a non-canon bundle. But barring that, I guess I will build a 25S after all. No worries. Btw I think I remember seeing that battle damaged VF-25, westfall, but I don't think it was on the level of Alto damage, where the VF is missing a few limbs. -
They did most of that intentionally as a homage. In fact, MacF paid tribute to M7, M0, DYRL... damn.

Would be interesting if someone did a custom model VF-25F with Alto-level-battle-damage. XD but yea back OT Has anyone found out if they'd offer the Armor pack separately yet? And speaking of which, did only Alto and Ozma ever wear the Armor pack, and thus we can't expect one done in the color of the VF-25G?
