  1. Well Eugi, if they are using the predefined variants system, then they probably will reflect their different weapon loadouts. I can see advantages to both variant system and full-customization... It just seems more... free-roaming if you get full customization like other games. I liked that concept a lot in EVE Online. Blowing up other mechs but trying to salvage rare weapons you can't buy to build up your own mech to suit your style. Oh well If they stick to the timeline, then no clan weapons or clan mechs will show. That'll really put a dent in some of the more interesting chassis, but it means you dont get the spindly mechs covered in tiny lasers >_>. However, it might also mean that those new to the franchise will feel bored by the Inner Sphere selections. It's give and take here. They can cheat a little if the single player storyline progresses through the timeline quickly and reaches 3050 or so. Or they could just include the clan mechs in multiplayer modes, where the storyline doesnt matter. But I somehow doubt they'll spend the development time on extra mechs when they don't have to make them for singleplayer.
  2. I really wish they wouldnt name it just 'Mechwarrior'. I hate it when reboots do that, because there is no way to distinguish it from the older title. Give your reboot a SUBTITLE at least. Cmon.
  3. Shiroi, according to one my Armored Core junkie friends, MW's style of customization is not on the same level as AC. Even with the most customization you've seen in the MW universe (since it varies between games), AC supports more customizations.
  4. Hey maybe the American TF market can have a taste of exploding shoulder syndrome then too =P
  5. Huh. I still find it hard to believe that you'd be able to fit Jetfire into a SR-71. That sounds like some voodoo, even if they were going to market a toy at $300. That aside, if there was a PT SR-71 in Macross (without the shard-like robot mode), I'd buy it for $300. SR-71s are awesome. =P
  6. Well. I have to agree with you. Clan tech was almost always superior and just kinda imba for games. However, according to the lore, I loved the idea of an exiled group of mysterious invaders with technology from before inner sphere war... before everything they had got trashed in the conflict. The resurgence of old lost technology and introduction of the super-specialized warriors and engineers from the clans was just awing. I loved it as a kid. Also, I started on MW2 as a kid when I was 10 maybe, but what ended up happening is that I got interested and played MW1 (which was kinda blah for a game)... Then checked out the board RPG. I wasn't interested in the RPG game... reminded me of D&D, and I was not geek enough to do it. I did however, become fond of the miniatures and the novels and literature. That probably led me to my current toy obsession =P. Even so, I have the utmost respect for all Battletech vets, and would not mind a continuation of the series, in collectible, board game, novelization or video game format. (Or even a movie, despite the Hollywood trash it'd probably be) I dont remember being able to do full customization on the field with mobile bots... I think I remember mobile support vehicles in MechCommander, but otherwise I don't. I also remember some MW missions had mech bays/facilities where you could power down to be reloaded/repaired. Regardless, I was referring only to the full mech bay customizations outside of a mission. I dont think mech customization should be possible anywhere else. I also kinda think they should reintroduce a cost for mounting equipment and issuing repairs ala MW2 Mercs.
  7. Doesnt matter, its a 360 exclusive. j/k XD
  8. Meh. The players can choose to put more armor into their legs. If they just buffed standard/minimum leg armor in a patch it would have made it much less viable. The Warhammer got struck in the leg by the Atlas. Didnt do much though. Btw, I was too excited to notice the first time through. The date is 3015. Clans havent shown yet. No clan mechs for me Also, I cant believe that Warhammer pilot moved into the shroud... when it was pretty obvious an atlas moved into it a few seconds before =/. Collapsing buildings is pretty nice though.. However, I doubt it'd destroy a mech. You also notice that the Atlas is designated Atlas-C... which makes me believe that pre-built variants are in the game, and customization will be limited. That sucks. If they are going to do their leveling system, they should allow players to increase their skills in certain types of modification (ie. omnislot modification or left arm modification) so that the players can get a larger variety of what they can fit into a slot... or even introduce the possibility of fitting in something that is just slightly too big. Or just having the ability to fit a few more heatsinks/increase the effectiveness of existing heatsinks. Mech games should be all about customization.
  9. HOLY DAMN I havent been keeping on top of gaming news, so this took me completely by surprise until logos mentioned it in the toy threads. I AM SO EXCITED I HAVE LOVED MW SINCE A KID. THE TRAILER IS AWESOME TOO. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG SO EXCITED >_< Seriously though, urban mech warfare has been bitching. Rounding a corner in MW4 with LBX20s and shotgunning a lighter mech into the pavement is unbelievable. I don't mind a reboot, however, I hope they keep some of my favorite mechanics of salvaging, refitting and safely disarming mechs. This bugs me a little: "you will gain experience and become better at piloting your chosen mech, and that will translate into better accuracy and damage with weapon systems." RPGish elements have been introduced to a lot of FPS games... I think its gotten kinda tiresome. However, I played Multiplayer Battletech 3050 (or something like.. was a beta from EA a long time ago) where you leveled up and acquired C-Bills online and bought your way up to better mechs. I enjoyed that concept, since it was sorta like the Mercenaries derivatives, although the game itself could be better. I still don't see why players wouldn't jump into heavier mechs and just train those, since ultimately, they will be superior. Sometimes its true that the 75 ton mechs are still very good, and the 90s can still dish it out with the 100s, but ultimately, unless you have a drop weight limit, people aren't going to be picking fleas or commandos anytime soon. Even the Uziels or Cougars (awesome med/light mechs) will get left out. I hope they make the multiplayer solid and diverse too, MW4 was alright, but the battles were almost the same unless they were defend/attack scenario maps. Now only if MWLL would come out soon. Also, please bring back the Daishi/Dire Wolf. That thing is ugly as hell, but I love it.
  10. Ani-Bay magic anyone? I'm sure it'd be tough to fit a robot inside a slim SR-71... But honestly, I don't think Bay should have even tried. I guess he didn't care about how the toys would turn out =/.
  11. Uhhhh.... I think the Jetfire might be a 1/72 scale. Honestly though... Wtf is all that crap on its belly? =/. Maybe I expect too much out of western transformables now.
  12. .... Are you serious about the parts upgrade? WTF??? Godamn, I hope this doesn't mean I need to blow more money on model kits ... I thought I was done. And how much more will you be able to upgrade the Armored parts anyway. I hope that won't change at least. I never liked Yamato's milking, but this is going to take the cake.
  13. The retail stores around here usually don't carry many $230+ items... especially all from the same lineup/series when its not half as popular as Gundam. Such expensive toys take a lot of shelf time, so its just not worth carrying all that many of them in most stores.

I think in that scene, Sara was convinced enough to think that Shin died. She doesn't watch enough Macross either =P
  16. I thought those things were always blue. I dont think thats it.
  17. Uhh... Brera gets the green-thing as his accessory? (forgot its name already... >_> shows how much I cared about Frontier =P) Kinda strange. He should have his dumb harmonica instead. And Sheryl is totally getting her whip microphone, no use even trying to make it a mystery.
  18. Death Race knockoff? Why not Road Rash? That was awesome!
  19. I don't think he's going to mind being haunted by babes.
  20. That's awesome. Now when people ask what show all my toys are from, I can direct them to this and tell them that it's worth blowing thousands of dollars in merchandise on.
  21. I would personally love a battle damaged line. >_> But I seriously doubt they'd get a near-model quality paint job of it done.

....... That's some parenting, strapping your infant to the outside of your supersonic vehicle in a tiny shipping container with nary an air vent in the backdrop of a war.
  23. Yea, the modelers really took a lot of liberty in making their kit, some of it just doesn't even follow line art at all... They just kinda wanted to do what they thought looked cool. The feet are entirely different for some reason. Not quite sure why, since you'd think that be one of the more direct transitions from fighter. I do like, however, the model's waist-mounted gunpod (totally reminds me of the FMP Arbalest) and the little turbine gear waist you see behind the nosecone in battroid. Line art sometimes bugs me with their shading that deliberately covers up the nitty-gritty mechanical detail that you'd see in a normal lighting condition. Sure it provides a much cleaner look that's more appealing, but it doesn't realistically reflect what even a non-transforming model would have to look like. I do think that Yamato can do a better job sticking to the lineart, but this will be one of their tougher challenges for sure.
  24. Wrong section? Isnt that the Robot Damashi thing? Its not a model kit. I'm assuming just mistaken post.
  25. .......................... I am both excited but also disappointed. I'm not a fan of chibi planes (reminds me of that crappy transforming super deformed vf-1) but I like having LS characters on it... Very torn. I was hoping they'd release full-body decals for the 1/72 VF-25 or an entirely new paintjob for the DX. Best case scenario was a mold plastic color change with tampoed characters on a Yamato bird >_>. I find the cosplay figures (omg Kagami as Klan) more interesting, despite their cheap mold. (Edit: Actually the mold isn't that bad. Kagami's pose just isn't hitting it off for me though.) Stop playing with my heartstrings, Japan.
