  1. Same here...these reviews are painful to watch sometimes!
  2. I thought my standalone 1S would never crack after months of having it on display, until one day I realized it was cracked already, and now it does not hold anything let alone the gunpod. Then I thought my fastpack bundled 1J TV Hikki would never crack, until it somehow cracked holding the gunpod in battroid mode. No, they don't cause cancer, they just need to redesign the shoulder hinges and they already did it.
  3. the VF-1 is nice until its shoulder hinges crack out of the box, after first transformation or by just sitting there...no figure is perfect! EDIT: there are no signs of the poster here in Hong Kong, or did anyone get it with the VF-27?
  4. I will probably need a friend like that to retouch mine as well, by the way, if anyone finds the matching paints for the offending areas, it would be nice if they posted their findings here or in the customs forum. we will all eventually need that for reference...
  5. I am quite sure the brera figure is selling fast because it has been anticipated by many collectors, once this hunger is satisfied, I am pretty sure you'll still see them popping out here and there. Not limited runs cannot be "underproduced" because when stock is low or sold out, they just go back to the production line to make more. I was informed of a new batch coming to hong kong on wed, after it was "sold out" around 15:00 and replenished at 17:30...Graham, did you get a replacement?
  6. noted, seems a common occurrence then, both are angled down on mine so I'll pretend this is my new canon!
  7. Nice, the green one was meant to come after Brera's, but the color there seems a bit more saturated than I'd have liked, but again, the actual model never looks exactly like the promotional shots, and there is a high chance that is a photoshop retouch. Besides the "101" not correcly aligned on the tail fins, did anyone else notice they missed the darker maroon trim on the sides of the legs? It shows correctly decorated in the manual and on the shot above as well. I am talking about the piece between the intakes and the wingroots.
  8. I know what you mean, but trust me, there is a lot of excess lubricant: you can see the rainbow light reflections and fingerprints on the polished plastic surface, it's not just how it "feels". On the shoulders the oil was actually oozing out from the seams and I wiped it off. This is bad, because there is slight chance I can apply paint on top of this slippery oil...and chipping is already happening. On another note, did anyone notice if the "101" lettering on the tail fins are straight or pointing "down"?
  9. Really sucks, the engineering itself seems amazing, only the polished surface and the paint application just don't do the job.
  10. Finally got the VF-27, my first DX Chogokin ever...it really sells fast, at least here in hong kong. That said, I know another batch is coming during the week and as ff95gj said, prices may then settle down. First impression: it is a nice rendering of the VF-27, buy paint application is as expected, not as good as Yamato's, and I presume some scratching will happen sooner than later. No idea how to clear coat this thing properly yet, don't want to disassemble, not yet. I do have a question: how does one open the cockpit? I still don't know if I have the Brera and Ranka figures inside! After hearing that paint can scratch easily, I am weary of using sharp tools but my gorilla fingers don't seem to be able to open the cockpit at all! EDIT: managed to open the cockpit once, don't ask me how I did it. Already noticed some paint scratching off by sheer finger contact, the light lavender trim hates the model, and the metallic shoulder pieces fit so well that if you push it against the plastic when transforming, it will inevitably chip paint off. I don't think I am going to transform this toy very often to avoid losing more of that beautiful finish. Oh, and there is so much lubricant on my copy that clear coating seems to be more difficult.
  11. Can one use Mr Hobby Clear (acrylic) over the DX? I have two cans but never used them (they were meant to clear coat models), anyway, some disassembly seems to be necessary to achieve a clean coating.
  12. I know, I was away from town for the week and listening to you and Graham talk about your new toys...that was horrible. I will sneak out as early as I can to check around Monkok, maybe even Animate?? Wish me luck!
  13. So sorry to hear that Graham...maybe there's your excuse for another one!! I am finally back and going to chase after one myself...worried it's already sold out in town.
  14. looks really good with Da Foldo Boosta! Really wish they sold those separately so I don't need to get those speakers.
  15. do the ones sold in hong kong come with the poster? just wondering...
  16. Two more days before I can even start searching for a copy of the Lucifer toy...will it be sold out completely by next monday?!
  17. I've been checking this thread for updates, I so wish I was in hk now! Ignacio, no puedo imaginar cómo te bancás la espera.
  18. Either Graham has not come back from his lunch break (still looking for the DX) or is now on his way home to play with his new toy?!
  19. OMG!!! being away for the week proved to be a very bad decision!
  20. doesn't anybody else think the face sculpt is off? the small lips...eyes, etc. don't look very "Sheryl". I also agree with David regarding the body sculpt.
  21. If you need one urgently, I am afraid the prospects for a revamped version in the foreseeable future seems very low, so you may just proceed with the current one, with known issues and all. After the release of the DX VF-27, I think I won't look back at the -25s anymore, not sure if you will feel the same.
  22. actually I'd like to know, how she will kill you when you get a $200 toy???????? Nice kit...and with so many VF-1 old and new I can't keep up, I am a bit confused and hardly remember which is which. Does this transform???? so it seems from the little Japanese I am trying to guess (turns pinpoint barrier on and braces for rotten tomatoes)
  23. does it have to be pristine white like the TV J Hikaru? I don't have the TV Max nor cannon fodder, do they have such white surfaces?
  24. yes it was a few posts back, same picture, it's a scan from a hobby magazine. I hope these are not mutilated figures, I mean only torso and no legs, if they're removable they should have legs or it just looks wrong. (actually, I personally never really cared too much about figures)
