    Personally, I find it rather pathetic and shortsighted that you're blaming Kawamori for business decisions in which he's not involved.

    Since it's a manga, it's just a dramatic retelling. If they were foolish enough to make it an anime, then anything goes. Any new Macross would probably pick and choose from both...i.e. the YF-29 is real, Leon is dead, but Michel and Klan's grandson is the main pilot. Or something like that. Just roll with it...

    But let's look at the realities of the situation...where does Macross make most of its money these days? CD and figure sales. If music is sidelined, CD sales suffer. If the love story is sidelined, figure sales suffer. Hence, no profit. EDIT: But I *do* think it's interesting that whenever a "fan" here comes up with a sequel plot, they usually choose to de-emphasize the music and the love triangles... no one ever chooses to de-emphasize the mecha.

    I think y'all are misunderstanding her post. She made a follow-up Facebook post: "I guess some people don't understand what I'm expressing here. I'm not denying or dismissing anything. I'm not making anything little. It's the opposite. I'm saying I've been impacted hugely and NowMari needs your support. BOOM! Later." Is that better...?

    I dunno...as a Macross fan AND a Mari fan, I kinda see both sides... Minmay shouldn't define her career...she's done a TON of work since then...and yet, I originally only went to see her concert because she was Minmay... Her frustration is understandable, I think.

    Again, I'm not seeing the problem here...if you end up liking the books more, you won't want to wait for the series. And since the series is an adaptation of the books, made at least partially for people who have read the books...then what's the worry?
