  1. This is slightly off-topic, and may never become relevant, but since I've been in a Hasegawa frenzy lately, I've been wondering about good ol' Sound Force. Before, when I made the Bandai/Imai kits, I used flat paint for the Vf-1 series, and gloss for the Fire Valkyrie. For my Hase Valks, though, I've used Aqueous Hobby Color. Just in case a Hasegawa VF-19kai or MAXL ever comes out, I've been wondering how to differentiate them. I'm thinking flecked metallic hot rod colors...sound good, anyone?
  2. I suppose I must be REALLY blasphemous then...WAY back, before I ever saw DYRL, I picked up an Arii Hikaru VF-1S. I painted it like it was on the box...black heatshield with a red skull. When I get around the getting a Hasegawa, I'll probably do it the same way. It may be completely wrong, but it looks SO COOL!
  3. I've built the 1/144 Fire Valkyrie two-set (which I tried, unsuccessfully, to customize into a YF-19, as it was 1995 and plastic injection Macross Plus models didn't exist then) and the 1/100 transformable Fire Valkryrie (both Bandai), which makes a pretty good looking battroid or gerwalk, but a pretty pitiful fighter. I also just got the Hasegawa VF-22S, but haven't started on it yet.
  4. Everything happens so fast in Macross Zero that it's kind of hard to tell, but I think the leg fast packs have indeed been shown. I may be mixing it up with M+, though...I took years before I realized the YF-19 had FAST Packs in the last episode... It looks like I might have to watch M0 again, just to make sure. Darn!
  5. I sure hope so...when Hasegawa put that message on its website saying, "The final run on the models has been made. If you want them, you should hurry!" or something to that effect, I began to get really worried (and I stocked up, just in case...what an obedient little consumer I am!). EDIT: Whoops...I should have made it clear that I was replying to bsu legato and David Hingtgen, and not to Lightning 06. Although why stop with the Prometheus? Why not a 1/72 Macross? Or Megaroad? Or Macross 7 (the ENTIRE fleet)?
  6. Well...yes and no. As far as I can tell, the Supervision Army were Protoculture and Zentradi under the Protodevilns' control that were created thousands of years ago. How exactly they recruited new members or who they took orders from after the Protodeviln were sealed up is kind of unclear to me. The Varauta Army are those unfortunates from the Megaroad 13 who unwittingly released the Protodeviln, as well as the poor Zentradi schmucks with the Macross 5 fleet. So they're the same KIND of thing, but not really the same.
  7. I agree. I think they problem was that someone thought I was asking a very basic, "Who are the Supervision Army?" question, which wasn't what I was asking at all.
  8. It's from the Miss Macross 7 book. If you've got a Mylene fetish, it's a good read. If not, it's relatively worthless.
  9. Okay...first I heard last Spring was that Hasegawa had either lost or chosen not to renew their rights to Macross. Then they came out with the Super and Strike Battroids. Then they announced that they were discontinuing their VF-1 fighter series (i.e. the first five kits in the series), and I heard that they were going to focus exclusively on M0 and M7 for a while. And then they come out with the Minmay Guard, which may not be from the original series, but is still more of a First Macross kit than it is a Macross 7 or 0 kit. Does anyone have any info that's NOT just rumor and hearsay? Are the first kits being discontinued permenantly? Will we never see a VF-1 Gerwalk? What gives?
  10. Original series: Great story, great characters, great mecha. Pity about all those AnimeFriend episodes... DYRL: Better designs (for characters AND mecha), and just drop dead gorgeous to look at. FB2012: A REALLY, REALLY good editing job for the "videos," and, of course, those few minutes of new animation near the end. MII: Some of the character designs are nice (especially Sylvie). Other than that...not much. M+: Lovely to look at, great Valkyries, creepy vibes, and exceptionally good music. Also opens with one of the best fight scenes in all of Macross. M7: This is tough...I think M7 has great ingredients for a show, but never QUITE managed to pull it off. Some of the Valks are cool, I liked seeing Max and Milia (and Exedol) again, I liked the idea of the Protodeviln and their history, and I thought the last clutch of episodes were awesome (but would have been better without Zomd and Goram). Some of the music's nice, too. I also thought the movie struck a good balance: fun without being ridiculous. MD7: The opening and ending credits are so frickin' awesome that it really makes me wish I thought Basara was as cool as I've evidently meant to. Again, cool designs. M0: There's very little that I DON'T like about this so far. The CG took a little getting used to at first, though.
  11. I'm suprised you didn't snap and go on a killing spree of some sort. Don't worry...I hid the bodies quite well...
  12. That was a great montage. SPOILER AHEAD! I also liked the tension between Minmay and her parents when she realizes she want's to be a popstar. It was brief and to the point. Well executed! I hear people say that this was episode 37 of SDF. Is that true? ~G25 In a way, I suppose...it wasn't run on TV and it was made four years after the end of the TV series, so it wasn't any kind of ACTUAL episode 37. But in the sense that it comes after the events of the series, yeah, it kinda is. I think it's funny that everyone's talking about it as such a great ending...when I first saw it in '87 or '88, I thought it was merely a teaser for a new sequel series or movie. Imagine how gypped I felt when five years went past and then, Macross II came out...

Thanks! That helps quite a bit...and that's a beautiful Valk, by the way...
  14. Yeah...that's kind of what I was thinking...the Supervision Army can supervise themselves, in a way (and, apparently, design and build spacecraft as well). And yeah...why DIDN'T they try to wake of Protodeviln? My guess is probably that they got to be as clueless about their origins as the Zentradi were.
  15. I read a lot of negative press about M0 before I saw it, and, personally, I think it was totally unjustified. M+ seemed to take forever between releases, and it wasn't until the third one came out that it REALLY had me wrapped around it's finger, dying for the one. It wasn't until the last quarter of M7 that I just HAD to know what happened next. M0, on the other hand, grabbed me right from the beginning by showing just how useless a conventional plane would be against a variable fighter (or, technically, whatever SV stands for). By the end of Episode one, I really wanted to see the second one. Now I'm counting down the days for the third...
  16. There are actually 8 Protodevilin, though Goram and Zomd are like the two who act as one, they are seperate. The Supervision Army was originally controlled by the Protoculture. The Protodevilin and Geperunichi took a large chunk of the Supervision Army to use to their own ends. Obviously when they were sealed on Varauta 3198xe, the Protoculture under their control were released. I think you are mistaking the Supervision Army of old with the new one in Macross 7. In Macross 7, the first soldiers mind-controlled to operate Geperunichi's new Supervision Army were of the Megaroad 13 Colonization Fleet. For more info, consult my Protodevilin website by clicking here. If you can't find the answer there or don't understand something, feel free to PM me or something. It's a little old, so forgive some spelling and grammar errors. Other than that, it has almost all the information you can find and my own observations and studies of the Protodevilin throughout the Macross 7 series. Thanks for the reply! It doesn't really answer my question, though...I was probably unclear about it. First off, having just finished watching M7 again, I can guarantee that there are only seven Protodeviln in the show...Gavil and Glavil were "one flesh," as they say. I was wondering if there were only those Protodeviln total, or if there are others out there (mostly, I'm thinking about the fanfic at MAHQ.net about the Megaroad...which has a PD in it. When I first read it, I thought it had to be an error, but after watching the show again, I'm not so sure). Second, the Varauta Army really seemed to need a guiding hand in the form of a PD. If the PD created the Supervision Army as well, and then were sealed, I would imagine that the Supervision Army would turn into a bunch of catatonic, drooling idiots, and I really doubt it would take the Zentradi thousands of years to mop them up. In other words, who supervised the supervisors? Probably just one of those unanswerable questions, like what happened to the Megaroad, or how did Roy manage to age three years between 2008 and 2009...
  17. A couple things here... First off, there are only seven Protodeviln total, right? Second, if that's true, and they were all frozen for millennia, who was controlling the Supervision Army for all those years? I'm just curious...I never quite got that part of it... And, uh, forgive me if this has all been covered before.

I looked through all the posts and did a search on the old MW forums, but I couldn't find anything about how to Make a Hasegawa VF-1 with the landing gear up...I tried just gluing the panels shut, but they didn't fit too well. What's worked for everyone else?
