  1. I think there's a number quoted in the Macross Compendium, but I don't remember how many. Bear in mind though, that the population was largely rebuilt through cloning, so it didn't really matter if there were enough survivors to sustain viability...just as long as there were enough to maintain some level of diversity.
  2. Did she really get THAT big, or did someone throw a 1/60 Valk at her?
  3. Well, after finishing translating the SDF Macross "White Christmas" story last night, I have a little itch to do more, so does anyone have scans of either Dreaming Prelude: My Fair Minmay or Misa Hayase: White Reminicences (largish, so I can look up the kanji)? I figure the answer is no, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.
  4. I'll grant you that the Zolans do kind of seem to come out of nowhere (and the fact that most of them have common English names is a mystery that passeth all understanding...), as do a lot of concepts in D7. But hey, either it works for you or it doesn't. Me, I'm kind of hoping a Zolan or two shows up in MF, but that doesn't seem likely at this point. And I totally agree with you about Elma's bath/Mylene's assault. The former didn't feel much different to me than, say, the bath scene in Totoro, whereas the latter was...well, a little sleazier than I would've liked.
  5. Judging from the quality of writing on their website, they seem to be a bunch of idiot savants, minus the "savant" part. But who knows? They could surprise us. Seems kind of strange that they'd do episode 7 before doing 1~6, though...
  6. Although I kinda sorta agree with the above, I also thought it was funny, and the attention to detail was great...I remember pausing the tape when the camera panned past the plastic model boxes in the otaku headquarters, and mentally ticking off the ones that I also had. I also remember going to Comicon in '99 and seeing a very short, very plump Darth Maul, and having flashbacks to the Char cosplay.
  7. Calm down...it was a joke.
  8. But is it an official Macross site...? And do they quote their sources? If not, I call BS.
  9. A quick google search of "reave celia fire bomber," "reave celia firing bomber," and "reave celia new noboru" turned up nothing besides French Wikipedia. I'd bet big money that it's simply a joke or a prank or something of that nature.
  10. No, it's being REreleased...it's from '98, and it's supposed to be from 2047, anyway (some of it's used as background music in Dynamite 7). It's still a crappy album, though. EDIT: for the full goods, check here: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/English_Fire%21%21
  11. But the big question is...who gets to be Alto's Cell Phone...?
  12. Your Gaydar is weak, old man...
  13. I agree with wolfx...if you're expecting a wrap-up to any loose threads left after M7, you'll be disappointed. But as a "Look, Basara's off on another wacky adventure!" story, I think it's well-done. The whole space whale duet could've been completely cringe worthy, but, thankfully, they used one of the best songs Yoko Kanno has ever written. And like the rest of M7, it's not really a mecha story...it just happens to have mecha in it.
  14. Crap, I've been pwned! And I'm usually so careful, too...
  15. I like Dynamite 7. It's fun, a lot of the things that annoyed me in the TV series are gone, the valks are (of course) gorgeous, and I think the music is better. I especially loved the cardboard stand-up concert scene. Different strokes...
  16. Well again, using DYRL as canon works up to a point...in M7, where did Miria get her red VF-1J? Why does she have a TV-style flightsuit? Why do the three old guys in the Destroid Monster have TV-style uniforms? I think it's best not to worry about which one is "true." "Repeat to yourself, 'It's just a show, I should probably just relax.'"
  17. MINT IN BOX??? You lucky, lucky bastard... That was the first kit I ever used an airbrush on...the results were less than stunning.
  18. Huh? Alto's not gay...
  19. ...or Mash. Or Basara. Or Gamlin. Or Isamu. Or Guld...
  20. Sounds like it was concocted by two people whose usernames are ReaVe and Celia... I'm sure it's fake.
  21. Thank you! And finally...the long-held secret of what happened on the Macross on Christmas Eve 2009 is revealved... Don't know what Ishiguro means he says there was no Macross Christmas episode, though...
  22. Ditto for me. Thanks, Renato!
  23. For TV Vs. DYRL, yeah...i remember an interview in Animag where Kawamori said that both were equally valid, but that was before Studio Nue came up with the timeline, so I'm not sure his words still stand. As for Zero, IIRC, there was a big kerfuffle here about Zero not fitting in with Rainy Night, since he confessed his love to Claudia the night before taking the VF-X-1 out for a first spin, and he was scared because it was different from anything he'd flown before. So we had people trying to rationalize how in Zero, he was flying a variable fighter quite skillfully but was apparently "unattached," if you will. My answer is that Zero happened AFTER he hooked up with Claudia, but he wasn't expecting to run into an old woulda/coulda/shoulda...and thoughts of Claudia took a backseat. If Aries had lived, he would've had quite a choice to make... I still think it works better as a pre-DYRL story, though.
