Yeah...I'm of two minds about that. On the one hand, I like Gamlin, and even that late in the game, his story arc (for want of a better term) was incomplete...he HAD to be the one to sing "Planet Dance" when Basara was in the coma. So killing him then wouldn't have made much sense, plot-wise. On the other hand, the VF-17 clearly blew up with no time for him to eject...hell, the canopy was still on when it exploded! Everything about that scene screamed "DEATH OF A MAJOR CHARACTER!!" So to have him live seemed like a real cheat. I do think that SOMEONE important should've died in that attack (and in the final battle...even Docker made it out, and I came close to cheering when I thought he'd been killed).

My point exactly A million Macross Francs may not be all that much...I suppose if I really felt strongly about the issue, I could revisit the M7 scene where someone buys the Fire Bomber CD (or Mylene buys the newspaper) for comparison. But I don't, so I won't. Good point. But it doesn't change the fact that a Macloned Zentradi would be spending A LOT more on food that a Micloned one would. "KIDS! It's dinner time! Get washed up and miclonized!"

The pointy ears started in M7 and Plus (Guld's ears were pointy, weren't they...?). They were also really pale, which no longer seems to be the case in MF.

Really, I'm surprised there were any macloned Zentradi walking around the mall at all...if micronization is such a simple process these days, it would make sense for farmers (or construction workers, or any kind of touch manual labor) to maclonize on their way to work and miclonize when the whistle blows. But does it really have to make sense? The mall was fun and looked pretty cool, which I think was the point...

I agree. I've been working on the Macross Compendium occasionally, and I can assure everyone that all I've been doing is bringing over information from the old site (I did all the audio releases except the Mac Zero soundtracks, for example...and that was only because someone else beat me to them). I did add some information (like track listings) to many of them, but ONLY if I actually owned the CD. I also wrote some of the series summaries...very basic info that I know to be correct, because I've watched the shows. So I don't know about anyone else, but I am very careful about what I put in the wiki. Needless to say, I'm not touching the Frontier articles...too many unknowns, too much speculation, and any info I'd feel comfortable adding is already there, thanks to the extremely capable work of Egan Loo and Azrael, and others. Personally, I'd like to add more illustrations (like album covers) to the entries, but I haven't asked about that yet.

IIRC, no one had to clear Plus (or II, for that matter) with HG...according to HG themselves, "no one was minding the store" (i.e.: "We had no idea how much money we could theoretically make by acting like little b!tches"). I really wish (as I think all of us do) that Bandai would take the bait and get HG into court. Put all of that hard-earned Gundam money to good use!

But Big West owns the designs...if they wanted to throw in a VF-1S in Roy Focker colors, the Macross, or even Minmay not looking a day over 16, they could. Harmony Gold has the rights to the Macross name, and the animation of the original show, but not the designs...right?

Sometimes they do...look at the Gundam Movie Trilogy...in 2000, they came out with the DVD "special edition," with new sound effects and re-recorded voices. But for those who grew up on Gundam, it just sounded...wrong. So late last year, they finally released the original versions. It took a while, but at least it happened...

Okay, after a visit to Japanese Wikipedia, I concede the point. There is no "shin" (i.e. "new") in the name. It's just the Earth Unity Government.

(The one that bugged me was Escaflowne...it was going so great until the final episode...Van's and Allen's greatest desire was to fight each other? Whose unwiped ass did they pull THAT one out of?) For me, though, I think I really WANT MF to blow me away. No, I understand that UN Spacy changed to New UN Spacy sometime between 2051 and 2059...but what I'm saying is that I think the New Unity Government was ALWAYS the New Unity Government (at least since 2010). So while it may have changed, the government retains the same name it had before. (But then, they couldn't very well call it the "New New Unity Government"...maybe the "New and Improved Unity Government"?)
