Yep, they sure do - regular shells and shock cannon rounds. Regular shells fire and impact...well, like regular shells. Shock cannon rounds twist together once they've traveled a certain distance to form one beam of gorgeous blue-white death. As to why they twist - if you pause the BD at the right spot you can clearly see that the rifling of the gun barrels is curved to cause this. For an example of each - As has been noted already, only Ch.1 is 2 episodes - the rest are 4 episodes each AND have English subs. This means they arent as expensive as Japanese releases normally are (ie, twice the length as a Gundam Unicorn disc for a similar price) and preordering will knock a good 2000yen off each disc. Alternatively, wait a bit and order 2 or 3 at once to minimize shipping costs. This is an amazing show and is absolutely worth it (I paid similar for each VHS tape of Macross 7 back in the day, raw, damnit! lol). Unfortunately I cant see the show getting released in the US - if there was a chance of this happening I doubt they would have included the subs. Mecha/SF on tv is the kiss of death these days among younger non Japanese anime fans...sigh. But hey, at least this way we can support a good series AND get subtitles! Bandai is also doing this with Gundam Ace and (I think) the Gundam Seed remaster boxes - its something they seem to be making a habit of doing on all newer shows that dont have any licensing issues - ie, no Eng. subs on Macross due to the obviouos licensing problems, no subs on the GitS:SAC BD tv boxes since they are guaranteed to come out in the US/rest of the world eventually (although the theatrical and compilation movies all DID have subs, funnily enough).

Wow - thank you everyone for making my morning commute that much more humorous. This thread has definitely taken a turn for the surreal and sort of supports my original point. While Renato was being sarcastic, at first I thought that much of the confusion was due to me not specifying which front page I was referring too. But then I thought 'HELL naw!' (followed by 'damn I need my morning coffee'). Why? because if I had meant GA Graphix, I would have said THEIR front page. It's only logical that I was referring to the front page of the very website we are all using. And yes, for those not in the know, MW has its own front page and a lot of people put a lot of work into it (especially EXO and Renato as of late). No, no, it was all you mate. Sketchley was referring to my original post. I think all contributors on the front page try to credit all information. Thats just another reason why one of my pet peeves is people asking questions on forums or posting 'news' in the scoopda thread that other members have already taken the time to translate and post on the front page. (My main pet peeve is people dumping large chunks of Japanese text in the forums with no explanation and expecting everyone else to do all the work translating/explaining, but thats a discussion for another time). BTW, am I the only one who finds it hilarious that some people seem to think that 'Scoopda' is actually a forum member? :-D Sketchley hit the nail on the head. The company announces restructuring/layoffs within a week or two of the publication being delayed. Asking why is akin to wondering why trains don't run in the middle of a power outage imo. And the fact of the matter is that they have come out and actually updated the fans on the situation - something they had no obligation to do. This alone is pretty impressive for something that is basically a glorified doujin (and one that, imo, probably isn't profitable at that). Congratulations! You win the internet, Good Sir! :-) Long story short - its in everyones best interests to keep an eye on the front page. Not only do a lot of people put a lot of love and work into it, doing so also helps minimize redundant threads and questions.

Uhm....layoffs perhaps? Have you checked the front page?

Macross 7 Bluray Boxset Details Announced
Tochiro replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
I really cant see this happening, if only because the original BDs are still readily available, often at huge discounts (ie, Vol. 1 is 1000yen new at many retailers) making them the much cheaper option over a re-released set which would undoubtedly come with an inflated price. Apart from the two storage boxes, the only 'extras' the first pressings came with were things like postcard calendars, so you arent missing all that much. With SDFMTV, DYRL, and 2 M7 boxes this year already, M+ probably wont come out until next year at the very earliest although I suspect it might not come out until M+ 20th anniversary in 2014. -

Best thing I heard at the Yamato 2199 panel I went to tonight - Macross/Yamato 2199 scenario writer Onogi and Y2199 General Director Izubuchi. When Onogi jokingly complained about how difficult Izubuchi is to work with, Izubuchi claimed indignantly 'Oh comeon! I've gotta be better to work with than Kawamori, right?'

Preorder earlybird reservations with 5% discount are available but only until July 30. Regular preorders will be opened at a later date, most likely along with the announcement of an actual price. http://www.yamato-to..._137/index.html

Well it looks like Fukuyama had emergency surgery and is now recovering. Here's hoping he manages to get back to full health over the course of time. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-07-03/jam-project/macross-7-fukuyama-leaves-hospital -

You do realize that the regular edition of the bluray comes out in only a little over 3 weeks, right? Not really all that long to wait until everyone can see it, hence I didnt see the point of going into much more detail. I can. however, provide the following if its of any help. Be warned, this is nothing BUT spoilers. Please excuse spelling and grammar - had to pound the above out from memory while eating lunch.

The Amazing Spider-Man, on Blu-Ray/DVD Nov. 9, 2012
Tochiro replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, thats exactly what I expected, given that Sony is pouring so much marketing budget at Asian markets (like its home market of Japan) where not only are the heroes in Avengers little-known, the movie hasnt even been released yet. Spider-man is guaranteed to outperform batman here too (Dark Knight didnt crack the top 10 in japanese cinemas). Doesnt change the fact that I felt the film was lackluster and unnecessary though...but hey, to each their own. -
It was the premiere of the first real trailer in over a year - and on the side of a building no less. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-07-01/evangelion/3.0-you-can-not-redo-film-trailer-posted Utterly loved the fans cheers when the release date was announced.

The Amazing Spider-Man, on Blu-Ray/DVD Nov. 9, 2012

Saw it last week. Was surprisingly unimpressed. Plot felt bloated yet plotting seemed strictly by the numbers. Aunt May was terribly cast and overall the film just didnt feel like it needed to exist IMO. SFX and action were of the expected high quality but apart from that, the only real highlights of the film for me were Martin Sheen and Denis Leary. I kinda hope that this flops so the rights revert to Marvel and they can work spiderman into their expanded movie universe. -
Well, Ch. 2 more than lived up to explanations. If i had to surmise it in 2 non-spoilerific points, I'd say: a)Its mecha porn b) the Yamato f#!ks crap UP! For those who are familiar with the original series, the end of Ch. 2 sees the Yamato at the point where it's about to leave the solar system. There are 5 main plot points that get covered in the 4 episodes that comprise Ch. 2: Izubuchi noted during the premier of Ch. 1 that Ch. 1 took more resources to make because there were fleets of ships on-screen simultaneously whereas normally episodes just have the Yamato being attacked by a number of enemy ships. This holds true in ch. 2 and is probably one way they manage to keep up the insane level mecha quality. Fighters get a lot more attention this Chapter, with a lot of detail about how they are able to launch quickly, etc (as partly shown in the trailer). And yes, theres more screen time for the female characters too, especially Yamamoto and the nurse :-)

In the first 2 eps Yuki gets the most screen time of the girls, but the Nurse (pink) gets a few lines, as does the girl on the at left. Am seeing eps 3-6 tomorrow so I'll let you know if some of them get a more prominent role.
