  1. not enough pylons on the wings i think...
  2. what the heck is it called? YF-29 Dulander??? edit: or maybe it's Durendal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durendal
  3. the new picture makes it look a little better.. just a little. hmm.. Looks like a YF-21 style head possibly.
  4. I would really looooove to see a hasegawa version of the VF-19F/S/Kai Fighter mode. These new Bandai toys do a great job, but the fighter still seems a bit chunky for me - understandable because of how the 19 is.
  5. This is a great thread. It's actually really relevant to me now as we have a 4 month old and I've been scrambling to find time to build. I was laughing out loud at the lunch break trick. I started doing that myself. I also find myself doing stuff after the kid goes to sleep.
  6. Yup. You can find it in most grocery stores. It won't melt the plastic. I've let my stuff sit for days and it was fine. The paint will just kind of dissolve. Use an old toothbrush to get into panel lines or cracks of necessary.
  7. Spray Easy-Off all over the part and stick in in a zip lock bag overnight. That should do it easily. If not, doing the same with brake fluid will take it off.
  8. Sorry, this is a bit OT, but that might be an interesting game concept. Kind of like a Macross version of Guitar Hero/Rock Band. You would play Basara in the Kai (or whatever Fire Bomber member) using the guitar/instrument controllers. During battles you play along to Fire Bomber songs just like Rock Band. Your success at following the songs determines how you fare in the battles and advancing the story. I'd buy it.
  9. Basara's character design imo sucks bad, to put it simply. He looks nothing like a pilot or a rock star. I have nothing against glasses but the best pilots should have 20 20 or close vision and I refuse to believe that it's possible to have good peripheral vision with the frames he uses. But really, just the look of him annoys me. Honestly, I think Ozma would make a better Basara. He looks much cooler and he's got attitude. I can totally picture him with a guitar and and we all know he's a bad-ass pilot. That would be awesome and so much more entertaining to watch..
  10. If you've never put together a model before and want to take on a 1/48, I hope you're a patient person, because imo you'll need a lot of it. When I first started building models I remember being so careful and meticulous at first. Then I would get so anxious at wanting to see the final product I would then rush to the end, leaving out a lot of details and ultimately being unsatisfied. It's really a matter of how much work you are willing to put into it. If you want to pay attention to every detail, get ready for the long haul especially with a 1/48. At the other extreme, you could slap the pieces together in a sitting. If you're satisfied with that, cool. Oh, and get ready to spend money on modelling products. Again, depending on what you want to do, it will get pricey. When all is said and done you may spend more then just getting a Yamato 1/48 if you have no modelling equipment to begin with. But don't get me wrong. The experience is very rewarding.
  11. cooling/refridgeration beams?? hmmm... Maybe for freezing Vajra?
  12. "Wild speculation theory here: It's going to be some kind of special armor the whip up to Match the VF-27 (either as a counter to it or to fight vajra like it). The big guns are quantum beam guns, with the "power condenser unit" being a device to draw power from the mech to charge the guns. the wing cover things have extra engines for more power/speed (just like the VF-27 with it's 4 engines), Micro missile launchers just like the VF-27, and it looks like the nacelle over the wing gloves (where the normal boosters go) may have large beam guns (just like the nacelles on the VF-27)." That's a heck of an exciting speculation.
  13. Ok, well I don't read Kanji well, but this is what I can make out: - The thing connected to the shield says something about "power condenser unit". - On the front of those boosters at the wing tips, those are engine ports. There's more but can't read. - Those 3 dark pieces at the front of each wing are micro missile launchers. - The gray mid-wing units have vernier thrusters on the front and rear - Beam cannons are pretty obvious - and then the thing pointing to the rear of the wing says something about a beam blah blah hatch. Can't read..
  14. I have to go with Clarence Boddicker. Easily one of the most quotable bad guys, if not the most. At least in any movie I can remember. Everything this guys says is awesome.
  15. top of the line Zentradi have retractable legs.
  16. There was a thread a while ago where someone actually built a radio control SV-51 and was able to get it flying fairly well.
  17. Nice! Well, my Nihongo is not very good but I was able make out a couple things. Nothing that we can't make out from the pics but apparently there are weapon bay covers on the leg nacelles, silkscreen decals, something about a clear sensor in the cockpit, movable vector nozzles.... Also something on the bottom about a new VF-1A minmei special.. whatever that is...
  18. I have a request! Can someone post pics of VF-1, YF-19, YF-21 and a VF-25 next to each other in Battroid and Fighter modes? Thanks!!!
  19. I like the fact that the fighter modes of the kawamori valks look more "reasonable" as planes. To me the VF2SS looks too gaudy and and yeah, "ricey". But I actually do like the metal siren. I hate the paint scheme, but the design itself looks great to me.

thanks I'll try those! I've seen some pics of wm's and it's definitely amazing. But yeah, I think I'm also looking for a little deeper as well.

    YF-19 Paint

Hello, I've begun to put together my own Hasegawa YF-19. I'm having trouble getting the color right for the hull. Can anyone tell me what mixture or color(s) they used to paint theirs? Thanks!
