I'm mostly curious how hard it would be to remove the white from the outer leg packs, and whether Bandai molded them in blue with white paint, or white with blue paint. Their painting setups in the past have been known the be on the pants-on-head side of things. Also, I really hope they include the TV-style missile clusters with these. They didn't put the TV style missiles with the DYRL strike pack releases, but hopefully they'll swap out the box launchers for the clusters, since I don't think we ever saw the boxes in the series (please correct me if I'm wrong here though).
  2. Just to make sure I'm not mixing things up, there's been confusion in the past over the terminology for "stickers" and "decals." I've never heard of anyone recommending dipping stickers in water before applying them. Is this something that actually helps Bandai's stickers work better, or is that actually in reference to the decals that you have to cut out yourself?
  3. Sweet funky moses, that's a lot of decals/stickers. They've got so many large (badly-printed) panels, the entire thing looks more like a papercraft model than plastic. Seriously, there are so many panel lines printed on the stickers, I don't know how you could even make this look passable without fully panel-lining it. I don't know.. I've got one ordered so I can slap it together for a quick build, but that might be all I do. The color breakdown on those parts is just nasty, I would have preferred everything in a single color to what they did. The thing's already 90% covered in labels to color it, why not go the last 10%? I'm also dreading the inevitable wing droop, when the hinges on the wings stop holding them level. Might be better to just leave it in battroid, and wait for a Hasegawa kit for fighter mode. I also wish they'd at least try and put a thigh swivel in these kits. It would be such a huge improvement for gerwalk mode if you didn't have to mimic the v.1 DX VF-25, and detach the legs to get the feet into any kind of stable stance.
  4. Saw a fun snippet of visual analysis about the library in the scene with Sam. Those chandeliers look awfully familiar. I don't even have HBO to watch this, or any other real source, but following the conspiracy theories and the plot summaries is entertaining all on its own.
  5. Just out of curiosity, which parts of the renewal do you prefer to the model? You may have mentioned it before, I just don't recall. Personally, I think I prefer the less angled nose section on the model kits, but I might be thinking of the fighter-only 1/100 kits. I bought a bunch of those cheapies to paint up in custom schemes, and I love how clean the lines on that mold are.
  6. Don't expect these decals to be anywhere near the quality of a gundam kit. Much ado was made about the VF-25 kit decals, and how utterly terrible they were in every way possible. Wrong shapes, didn't adhere, dissolved on contact with certain common decal liquids, they were even screen printed to the point they looked like magazine clippings, as if Bandai didn't have access to solid colors, or anything even as advanced as an ink jet printer. The one VF-25 kit I've "finished" is all hand panted, because I didn't feel like dealing with the decals.
  7. I figured I'd order one of these to see if I care about the design enough to try and order the DXs... fortunately for my wallet, those booster packs look ducking fugly, so that's nice chunk of change I don't need to spend.

Glad to know it'll be fixed on the one I bought then, I don't know why it took them this long to figure it out. The white boosters? Honestly don't bug me. It's the leg packs that do, because.. "Oh, I'm bored, here, let's make this random panel white for no particular reason." It just looks out of place, unnecessary, and mismatched. At least the packs on the backs of the legs and the new colored arm parts match. A white stripe down the side of the leg would have at least matched the scheme. If they're going to keep that kind of nonsense up, I demand repaints of all the mis-painted valks seen during Max and Millia's wedding episode.

They seem to have fixed those, despite ignoring that it was completely wrong on all of the Hikaru 1J releases. As far as landing gear go, the big question is, do you want display-worthy landing gear, or pop out wheels like you see on the old Joke Machines? I don't know if I'm sold on the M&M set yet, guess it'll depend on how hard they are to order. I'd probably display them without the packs anyway. ...Except, ohhh wait, Bandai doesn't include the bare fighter mode stand with the super versions...
  10. So, there was a picture of the Rod YF-29 on one of Bandai's recent ad things involving a few products, are they finally going to make the super packs for it?
  11. I'm tempted to get that copter for the sole purpose of figuring out how on earth they rigged up a counter-rotating prop. What I really need to do though is get back into the game and figure out how to make that 1/18th VF-1S workable.
  12. Pfft Not really, and honestly, I'm planning on selling off one of my 30th "Focker" schemed ones eventually, so I'd considered selling it loose and putting Alto in that box, but I don't like the idea of shipping one off without the styrofoam to protect it.
  13. Not sure if this is what you really mean, but I always thought Dodge actually pulled it off well with the Challenger concept car. They took their standard cross-hairs grille, but squared it off entirely, and buried it in open front end, making it really subtle. The design has changed a couple times since that first year though.
  14. Funny question, but is anyone here planning to ditch the packaging for theirs? I acquired a YF-29 a couple years back second-hand with no box, and figured I'd be fine with it, but now my OCD sense is tingling at me. If anyone doesn't want the box and styrofoam bits, I'd be happy to pay a few bucks plus shipping for one.
  15. I'm heavily debating which planes to even focus on, because I know some will be more popular than others. Getting Hayate's and Mirage's seems like a no brainer, but honestly, the only other one that really appeals to me is Chuck's, and the eventual 31A (which I might justify a pair of). That might change over the course of the series, but for now it's a relief to my wallet to not feel the need to track down all the releases. Better still, unless they start differentiating the 262s in some way, I'm not seeing much reason to get more than two, maybe three total. Even if the markings on the individual fighters differ, there's been no real attempt to point out which fighter belongs to which character, aside from Keith's.
  16. I started doing that after the issues with the 171s, so, that may count as a special case. I just figured having a stash of spare parts to fix things with was a good idea, whether there were any problems reported, or not. If I had the physical space to handle one for each mode, I might indeed grab six, but with so many variants in this show, they're going to pile up fast.
  17. I've taken to buying Bandais in pairs just so I can have a set of spare parts to replace anything they forget to put in the box, or explodes on contact with air.
  18. I'd bet the differences are how Bandai's going to slip their own DX VF-1 into the mix, they'll claim it's different enough to warrant a separate product license.
  19. Can we just get a new freaking X-wing game on PC for crying out loud? Stop with this console crap and give us a SIM!
  20. So... looking at that video, it looks like instead of the typical folding nose, this one actually twists at an angle to bend down. Like that mechanism better honestly, but I wonder if it'll lose tension over time.
  21. I kind of feel like a new SAC Major would have sold better, but I'm happy I can get this one on sale and do the headswap with my older one. Now if they'd just release a tachikoma in the same scale..
  22. Holy crap, that's a good deal.. I'm almost tempted to pick up a 4th one, but I don't have the room.
  23. One more reason I wish they'd just skipped the tower. It's so out of scale with the ships, I would have rather saved the money. I might not be able to resist ordering a couple though.
  24. The only reason I'll get his is to contrast with Mirage. We didn't get a nice blue/red pair in Frontier, because Bandai never ponied up and made Klan's VF-25S (non-canon, schmon-schmanon, that custom job scheme was so pretty.. )
  25. Just did a quick search of Amazon, and it looks like the A-wing is already available to ship? I might order a few if the listing is legitimate.
