Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread
DarrinG replied to JCSaves's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Photoshop. But I didn't do too much to them besides 'turning on some lights" and the gunfire in the Revy pic . . . -
With all the Mindless CG movies out, or coming out, I held out little hope that an large scope, adult oriented sci-fi flick could be pulled off well anymore. Saw District 9 last night. SHEESH - not perfect but very awesome. Get THAT team on any Macross or RB live action movie please! License debates be darned! Toby - if you can hear me: it should look wayyyy more like District 9 than Transformers; harsh, real, not over produced or over refined. NOT with pretty models or a Zoolander cast - REAL looking, or obscure actors PLEASE! And I heard it only cost 30 mil - even more amazing . . .
-
Bike looks bad - and messes with my nostalgia. They first peep who looks at my cyclone and says "Hey - is that a GI Joe?" - I'll go off. Is that GI Joe movie as BAD as the previews suggest? I will be skipping it . . .

ANYONE reading this thread who has NOT seen this movie - SEE IT. Amazing. Intense. Intelligent. Detailed -- and freaking unique! If T2 and Aliens are 10s, this is about a 8.75 or 9. Perfect casting. I'm so sick of pretty people saying perfect things - This felt so much more real. Not sure I liked the alien design in the first 10 or 15 minutes but they quickly grew on me. SEE IT, SEE IT, SEE IT . . .

DarrinG replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I posted this pic in the "Strike a Pose" thread but these guys are just hangin' out, not really posing. That's my Cleveland CAVS Z Stretch doll waiting to be 'micronized' . . . -

Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread
DarrinG replied to JCSaves's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
My last pic was not very 'posed' - mostly mechs standing idle. So here's a Regult Attack with some more action . . . -

Yep - aware of the price of the 'good ones'. Wish I didn't have so many other things that I had to buy - like food! Here are a few of my cels - will post some more later . . .

AWSOME TEASER - I did not expect the Legioss/Treads to come with it. OK - how much (ballpark) do we need to save? And when approx do we need to have this saved up by?
-
But I want Yamato to read this thread and see we're a bunch of reasonable fans. I would except a 1/60 Regult pilot being anywhere from valk hip to top-of-chest high. I think this is a good range to have Regults about twice as tall as a 1/60 valk but since they're not variable, about the same price . . . (fingers crossed)
-
This scale discussion always makes me wonder just how big Yamato might make a 1/60 Regult line. If they do, and the pilot is removable (as it HAS to be!) then I would think they would go no taller than the hip socket on a 1/60 valk. But for economy and size I bet he would not go beyond the valk knee cap, which starts to seem wayyy off the mark for 1/60. I mean - how in blazes did max fit into that enemy uniform! (however big - just make the 1/60 pods Yamato! -- I'll live with the scale inconsistencies)

The making of a 1/72 Tacticar Pod Graug--the musical!

"I hate to lose a fight!" - I can just see him beating the dash. Amazing - never thought I would see something like that. Almost beyond words . . . -

Looks great. Love the little red sensor of the Beta head poking up! I just got my green Alpha from someone here on MW, preparing for the arrival of my matching green Beta. This Alpha seems pretty tight, especially compared to my red version. One thing I noticed on this release - did they add little crotch pegs that lock into the back of the calves in fighter mode? Don't remember those on my blue and red. Tempted to change mode to battloid to see how these pegs look but I'm not sure I want to change modes on these MPC Alphas much . . .
-
Checking back again today. More info please, even if its just a teaser . . .
-
I would like to see the hovertank scratchbuilt for sure. Always wanted a Revoltech of just the 'battroid mode' - that would be sweet and highly unlikely. How do we get someone like John Moscato to try his hand at this sculpt after the Glaug is complete? For me -- an ABSOLUTE MUST is the canopy they developed later for space that covers the pilot. I can't stand the 'open air' stupidity of the early tank and guardian modes where the pilot is totally exposed. (we should rename this thread 'petition for hovertank scratch build')

Reading all this has NOT made me want to watch SC again. I could have ignored some of the shoddy animation if the writing had only been aimed at the 20/30 something crowd. The optimist in me says they have learned from all the fan outcry and will apply that knowledge to any new production. Not only that, but I hope WB has gathered some serious fans, writers and creative people to turn what was something like "Batman, Robin & Mr Freeze" into something more like "Batman Begins". If HG is waiting to see how RB can be done right before completing SR then I'm all for it . . .

Came back to this thread today to see if there was a Garfish update and here it is!! I just checked the Starship Modeler site and I did not see any info. Your paint job and weathering looks awesome. Ready to buy - more info please ( ! ) . . .

Just got my notice from Nippon Express - its a race!

I can only hope that I'm seeing no new production work from HG because they're readjusting their focus from 14 year olds over to 30 year olds. They have a myriad of good options before them (even with the legal constraints) but with they choose one? I nominate myself, Jenius and JasonC to their board, and maybe some others here. HG need fresh perspective from a few passionate souls. I firmly believe we can help them continue their 'gangbusters' sales, but with critical acclaim from a broad range of fans this time for their next effort . . .
-
1/60 Regults and Glaugs with removable pilots. And I pray that every Macross fan (or current customer of 1/60 valks) buys the first release right away. If half of us 'wait to see what's next' it could be the death of the line . . .

I've never had an issue with RT.com. Always fast with no problems. I'm about ready to break down and get the green and shadow alpha from there. Have been unable to locate them cheaper on evilBay. Maybe I will post here on MW in the wanted area . . .

"Ridiculous Complacence" I have noticed this at RT.com, its glaring. I'll check out a topic and see if anyone has raised a fuss or even commented on obvious current hot topics -- and there seems to be total silence, or just random inappropriate thoughts. For some of the things to change, they will need to be an organized, angry mob. But from the looks of it, most seem to be content with getting Beta Fighters 25 years after their childhood cartoon aired. They are too busy or disorganized to push for more. For me, I want the red ride-armor finished, and don't care who gets it done . . .
