  1. I believe this is how it should be done as well.
  2. I will hold out till Yamato see the sense in coming out with more well-thought out paint schemes. Might consider getting the BoP and the 00 when it goes on sale.
  3. But the super nova orange scheme is sexier! Why settle for 2nd best?
  4. Me too, but only after they have made significant improvements to it, so it can feel like an advanced variable fighter, even for a toy, than the current YF21 and the VF11B. So it can also be worthy of the moniker, "YF19 Alpha One"; not "The Floppy One".
  5. Well it does cost a lot of money... What else would regular folks call us I wonder! I'm just thankful it wasn't as fragile as I expected it to be!
  6. Nice Gunbuster collection you have! Mine is the normal set too. The special online preorder set is too expensive for me for so little extra. The Homing laser is a pain the butt to pose; I think the picture below is the best spread that you can achieve without any help, I'm not really impressed by it. What I like most of all it the telescoping buster colliders - SHE actually got it made correct and closer to the anime than Bandai. 7. Welcome to the SHE Gunbuster owner club. Yup, the imperfections are normal. I have them on my SHE Gunbuster as well. A phenomenally brilliant piece of perfect transformation whose thunder is stolen by his SOC brother. I actually like the SHE's proportions more than the SOC one. Is yours a normal retail version, or the WF special set that comes with the Buster Home Run, B. Cowboy, B. Tomahawk & B. Anchor?
  8. Whoah, Very good news indeed. Thanks for all the updates!
  9. I've cut down on buying new releases and am on the hunt for bargains on hlj.com. And even though hlj is kind of having a year long sale now, I'm still considering hard before buying. Learned my lesson on buying the Beagle Mospeada and some SOCs upon release only to find out that they can still go lower in price. Makes the scrooge in me rejoice and the collector in me feel like a fool. So I've resorted to forgoing some collectibles including Macross stuff, except for the ones that I really want and be generous with money for other luxuries like eating at fancy restaurants with my fiancee.
  10. Oh, I nearly forget to mention... make sure you bring a part of the valk, leg or arm part so you can test out the shade of grey that you like. I used cool greys 50% and 70% and a blender. The blender is used to make the washes. When you're done, you don't even need to spray a clear coat to protect it... it's that effective.
  11. Hehehe, my zpezial. Copic is a brand of art markers from Japan, used for coloring commercial drawings like storyboards, artist impressions and etc. Once in a while, you'll probably see Copics being used in hobby magazines like Hobby Japan, Model Graphix or Dengeki. They can be used to color stuff straight from the marker itself, or you can slip them into a marker handpiece (something like an air brush handpiece) for a more even solid or gradient. They are alchohol based, and are kind of like the Gundam markers; only that Copics have more colors and many shades of greys, and the nibs come in a broad wedge and a broader fine tip. Markers like these are also available in other brands like Pantone, Yoken, Prismacolors and... actually there are too many to remember. The method of application is same as what you describe Dobber did. Apply marker, and wipe off or wash away excess. The weathering is done thru trial and error, but the general idea is to weather the valk with streaks of "dirt" according to airflow and simulate oil leaks and water stains, I think. Glad to know you all like it, thanks. I admit its a bit unconventional to weather planes with permanent markers, but I want the stains to stay on long after and not smudge off after multiple transformation, and I think it works!
  12. Made with permanent markers and washed away, so I get a weathering that doesn't chip, doesn't smudge. Can be transformed repeatedly to my heart's content and the dirty streaks will still remain. My first attempt at weathering with grey copic markers. Need to check if the I made it too dirty or not. Let me know thanks! You may talk dirty but I want serious dirty, ok?
  13. Old Isamu's enjoying his fatter paycheck too much as YF-19's pilot that's why he can't go back to the 11B.
  14. It's not. People are just hanging on to it simply because it's the better version. If you can live with the crooked gunpod and the back landing gears that cannot fully deploy, get the 1st version. Both versions' nose necks are hard as hell to transform, file them down and you're okay. The fold boosters and the fast packs don't really add much to the YF 19 in my opinion, so you're not missing much. Either get the 1st version now, or wait for a new reissue in a month or two,
  15. Add blu-tack to her gluteus maximus.
  16. Give him a 1:6 tommy gun and you'll get a squinting 30's gangster about to open fire. "I like my shoes to be spit shined. Not turtle waxed, see? Yeah!
  17. It is precisely in this type of answer by majority of Macross collectors, compounded by the fact that Yamato simply refuses to use proper material that can prevent breakage, makes their greediness a wrongdoing by manyfold. Everything is overpriced these day, no doubt about that, but that's generally the only thing to complaint about usually... With Yamato, you get more than one complaint.
  18. I can see the validity of such reasoning if a company's products receive moderate to very little negative feedbacks from their customers. But Yamato is far from that.
  19. I find it quite meaningless that the yf19 being the star of the show is crappily made, when compared to the yf21 and vf11b. The case is the same with the old 1/72 series. You start off with yf19 that most people think is the best in the world, then a year or so later when the vf11b w/ fastpack comes out, suddenly the yf19 does not even deserve to breathe the same air with his other mac plus brother. Is the yf19 superior to the yf21 and the vf11b in name only? Yamato seems to be telling so.
  20. The looseness of the shoulders can be easily fixed with sneaking in some supa glue into the rotation points. Just squeeze small amounts of supa glue on the edge of a paper strip and apply into the small crevice of the shoulders and rotate the shoulder till the glue dries to create friction and its sufficiently tight after that. But be careful when you sneak the glues in so other surfaces of the yf19 don't come in contact with the glue. You can only sneak glue in as you can't really dismantle the whole shoulder... because the caps (at the armpits) that cover the screws that fasten to the shoulders together, are glued shut. Sigh, I wish Yamato didn't do that. But I've noticed these people have always done that - glueing shut areas that aren't put together properly - the shoulders' articulation looseness are obviously a fixable problem but I'm forced to opt for a less appealing option to solve it. I wish there is some way to tell these people not to glue any parts at all... they should have the sense to see that it could save them money on the glue and the time to apply them, as well as save on the aggravation they are giving us.
  21. I think the Mexican authorities did the right thing about the swine flu this time, at least they don't keep this threat a secret until it got out of hand like how China dealt with SARS. Goods imported from Japan will not be a problem unless it made a stop in Mexico before it gets to you. And not that I'm saying that now is a good time for a pandemic, but since the economy is down, I hope the swine flu can be contained in time for the economy to pick up.
  22. So, I was posing with my gokin Great Impact Gurren Lagann, as I marvel at his leg articulation; I can't help but notice how similar his shoe design are to the classic Insta Pump Fury... even the colorway is the similar black/yellow/red. Please tell me I'm not just seeing things.
  23. Nope. It'll have to be the 2nd run or until it is done right.
