  1. I coat the whole valk so it has a consistent flat look. The clear coat is more so to fix the weather effects and panel lining in place since they can wipe off with too much handling. I can't remember if my process is a clear gloss over to weathering first, sticker, and finish with clear flat. It's been AGES as since I last sat down to customise my valks. Maybe 2 years ago. I had a VF-1A CF in progress. I've forgotten where I'm up to on that one now. Maybe dry brushing stage.
  2. Yes. I do apply the stickers to my valks. I also trim them so they are nice and tight with minimal edges. Because I also weather mine I apply a coat of Mr Hobby Clear Flat over the top and it helps keep the stickers from peeling. I've got a couple of my stickered valks posted here. I'll see if I can dig them up.
  3. It looks like this automatic change in conversion fee happened sometime mid April for me. In early April a HLJ order was charged using my CCs's conversion rate correctly, and then April 19 when I bought some tomicas, the conversion was going through Paypal. I'm paranoid and want to check it again now.... EDIT: It's still set correctly for me after updating on the weekend.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Quite annoyed at Paypal. They secretly adjusted the currency conversion settings on my no transaction fee CC to use Paypal conversion rate, when it has always been set to use my cards conversion rate in the past (it was correctly set 2 weeks prior to my purchase of the VF-31F). Wasted $10 on this. I think I will be calling Paypal to complain and see if they can resolve this. I've set it back to use my cards conversion rate again, but who knows if it'll secretly change back again. It feels like Paypal did this to everyone accounts so they could score some easy "oops" money from their customers. so shady! EDIT: Rang Paypal to complain, and they acknowledged that I should have not been charged using the Paypal conversion fee as my previous transactions were all opting out, so the payment has been flagged for review. Hopefully can get a refund from Paypal for the difference.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I think I will have to get a set for my 31F. Initially I thought they were quite garish compared to previous designs, but they are reminiscent of the VF-11B super packs. A little bit boxy with big veneers on the back.
  6. Looks like it is slowly being populated. First search had 100 items. Reload and now 101 items. Surely there would be more than 101 items in the sale. Haha. Perhaps to give everyone a chance to search and get a bargain.
  7. http://hlj.com/spring-sale-2017 go go go! ahhh drats.... categories not active yet

    Bandai DX VF-31

An option is to buy all x5 Messer Super packs and apply them to all the VF-31s. His are black/dark so should be pretty neutral. I guess not as neutral as VF-1 or VF-11 FAST packs, but pretty close - at least easier to paint grey if that is your preference. I'm definitely tempted tempted to buy the Chuck super packs alongside Messer super packs. I prefer more realistic subdued colours for my Macross toys (which is why I've sworn off buying all the heroes units), and Messer's being pretty dark and greyish works well for me, but I just can't deny that the yellow super packs are just so eye catching. It would be awesome to swap between them when I feel like it. Haha

    Bandai DX VF-31

Messer's colour being neutral lends itself well to being compatible with all colours. no3Ljm. Let's see it with different flouro and bright colours. Haha XD I'm actually quite fond of the Chuck super packs on the VF-31F. Nice contrast. A bit Royish.
  10. might have to try out this next time, as you all remember my YF-19 has a snapped metal bar for 1 of the wings (dropped), and currently my broken wing is just attached into the wing root with hotglue (that will be fun to remove....)
  11. WOW! These are fantastic! I would like to get some proper Metal Build style stands for my 2 Gundam Unicorns, 0 Gundam, and RX-78 Gundam Origin. Hope the price isn't expensive - otherwise might as well get a Yetistand.
  12. Finally got around to watching that YouKu video, and the Turris Babel does look a little rough compared to MoShow's Mecha Warrior. It has a 3rd party look to it. A little bit messy mold lines, and rounded edges. Not at all sharp and defined like the more recent Bandai Metal Builds or MoShow's Mecha Warrior. Here is a really nice unboxing post of MoShow's 00Q/0Q0 http://www.dachong.gz.cn/read.php?tid-87532.html Detailing is leagues better than the FanMade. I think that the FanMade has the feel of a KO gunpla with metal frame. Even the articulation is better on the MoShow - see knee bend. FanMade is 90 degrees, where as MoShow is almost 180 thanks to the sliding thigh armor The GN Sword V is much better too. FanMade blade is all clear plastic, where as MoShow has the opaque white part in the middle of the blade. MoShow really just has much better colour separation and also a lot more tampo.
  13. chyll2 : thanks for the images of the Turris Babel. I will probably wait for more impressions of the Turris Babel before I decide to buy it. I know from experience that MoShow quality is top notch (their MB Plus Strike / Mecha Warrior was fantastic), so it's a safe bet to buy the 0Q0 (LOL @ the model number - but don't care). I think MoShow only needs to improve their release naming. FanMade has the right idea there. Turris Babel is an interesting name. Much better than Mecha Warrior - or even the misspelling - Mecha Worrior HAHA). I'm eagerly waiting for the anticipated Trans Am 00 Raiser from Metal Club. About Metal Club KO releases. Impressions from buyers is that they are VERY good KO. Only some minor issues (green clear parts not as clear as Bandai, tampo a little bit rough), but there are significant structural improvements over the Bandai releases, Namely that the joints are much tighter. I think I read some are scarily tight, but at least that is better than too loose, which is problem with Bandai's releases of the 00 Gundam. Both of my Seven Swords are pretty floppy on all joints. It can hold a pose well enough, but the tightness is much looser compared to Bandai's more recent releases - Red Frame, Strike Freedom. A light bump can move the limbs quite easily. I think I read that the foggy clear green parts have been fixed on the 00 Raiser release, so that is pretty good. I think there should be releases of Strike Freedom and Destiny in the Metal Club line this year too.
  14. I was quoted $170 AUD for the Fanmade Turris Babel from my local retailer, but after F360's comment about it being lesser quality than MoShow's quality and also some.other peoples comments about it (on YouTube), I decided to hold out for just the MoShow.
  15. ah yes of course. I thought there might have been something else that was different. We going to be waiting forever for Arcadia to release stand alone DYRL & TV FAST Pack. Since Arcadia aren't even fussed about the colour differentiation between DYRL and TV (like Yamato), a joint DYRL/TV FAST Pack SKU would be prefect. 2 sets of forearm armors (DYRL/TV) and reaction warheads (different colour tips? I can't remember) would only be required?
  16. Would be nice if Arcadia just included a VF-1A head too.
  17. Yeah it should. It should also come with an empty white box that is the same size as the original MB Destiny box, which is a place holder in the whole package. I ended up cancelling my order of the MB Strike Freedom wings of light from NY because the shipping was way too expensive. I asked if NY could throw away the white box and outer sleeve since I was only interested in the wings of light box, but they said they couldn't do that.
  18. Being an aussie, I just haven't been able to put money aside for Yeti stands, and as it is, AUD to USD has been quite poor lately. Actually the MB stands from Bandai are quite attractive, as they feature the name, and specs etc on the base, which is quite nice. They're definitely better than the plain Bandai DX Valk stands. Like F360 said: Gundam without stands in a detolf really is like the Captain America 2 elevator scene. LOL - such a great analogy It's pretty cramped already. Poor old MC 0 Gundam can only just stand there (also he only has a display base).
  19. Thanks for comparison pics F360. Much appreciated. I always regretted a little not picking up the new marking 00 Raiser release, and then offloading my Seven Swords to cover the cost of the 00 Raiser. OH YES! I will be up for a Trans Am 00 Raiser. That will match up nicely with my set of Exia's (vanilla Exia, Repair 1, and Trans Am). Only issue is that 00 Gundam is it's so massive with the 0 Raiser attached that 3 00 Gundams wouldn't fit in my Detolf - It barely fits the vanilla 00 and 00 Raiser. Maybe need to do that side by side Detolf hack one day to get double width detolf.
  20. Anyone know if the 00Raiser KO has the Seven Swords markings or 00Raiser markings? I only have 2x of Seven Swords (1 with 0 Raiser attached and the other displayed as vanilla 00).
  21. I've only seen a Singapore store, DewToyStore http://dewtoystore.com/index.php/fanmade-fan-made-1-100-turris-babel.html Can't confirm if they are trustworthy or not. I might give them a try if my local supplier can't secure it. Either way they accept Paypal so you should be covered if there are any problems.
  22. I think it is still preorder stage for release end of Jan or Feb. I'm checking if my local supplier can source the Turris Babel.
