Personally think they should be detachable and then stow inside the calf armor so you don’t lose them. I guess that is partsforming, but sometimes compromises are needed for functionality and durability.

HOLY COW. With the stock DX VF-1 already pretty beefy looking just imagine how thicc GBP will be! I almost regret not getting 4th for GBP release, but just can’t afford it. I’ll just pray Bandai release the GBP with VF-1J like they did with HMR.

Personally i find all 3 modes of the VF-1 to be equally awesome. Gerwalk just has a perfect balance. Wings over the arms, no junk hanging off the back. The same cannot be said for any of the other transforming fighters. It’s why I just had to get 3 of this iconic fighter. I would not be satisfied if I were unable to display this beauty in all 3 glorious modes. Anyone else planning on panel lining? I’m also planning on lightly weathering mine. I’m kind of dreading the time it will take to do all 3. It’s going to take ages because I also dry brush the metal parts.

@treatment said Ami isn't going to be processing any shipping or payment requests until Jan 3, when they return from break. Kind of good news for me. Gives more time for the AUD to climb against the JPY. It's slowly jumping climbing back.

Love the DX look of the battroid. It’s robot beefy like it looked in the anime. I thought a complaint about the yamarcadia was the priest collar. DX no longer has that? Looking forward to see more comparisons shots between the fighter modes. @jenius I’m looking forward to your review and lineart comparisons.

NY strikes again with their charging extra at time of shipping shinanigans. It’s why NY is not a first preference for me. There is the risk that the already high shipping will be increased at the release date. I’ve also heard that CDJ can charge extra at release date, but I think it’s very rare. It is a common NY practice.

It’s cheaper from Kitz isn’t it? They’ve got the preorder discount (assumption based on Rick 1/12 preorder) and free express shipping. Seems their customer service is top notch too from what I’ve read. Can we say the same for Robotech.com?

An interesting tid bit from that article. It was limited to touch and try 8 minutes and everyone who participated were able to transform from fighter to battroid in that time. Impressive.

So much cringe watching that video. Obviously he is not a big fan of Macross / Robotech with the head being backward and the transformation being so sloppy. Such a disservice to an otherwise fantastic looking toy. The detailing with the panel lining is great. It kind of reminds me of the Tomytec models. I still dislike those massive upper air intakes, and the leg intakes are also a little bit off. Again even in the instruction manual they don't show the shoulders being able to be positioned with the wings fully open. LED gimmick is kind of nice, but I don't feel like it was required. Glowing camera module or gun pod don't come to mind when I think of Macross / Robotech. It's more a giant robot or Gundam thing. Actually the only Macross glowing thing that comes to mind is when Hikaru / Rick was flying through the Shadow Zone of Saturn and all you could see were his lights in fighter mode. Now that is a memorable scene involving glowing lights. I found it strange that they didn't package the toy in Fighter mode like Bandai and Yamarcadia do. Macross / Robotech valkyries are primarily Fighter planes, and the other 2 modes are their secret weapons. Especially since it's easier to learn to transform from Fighter > Guardian > Batteloid and not the other way around. Then again the Hi Metal R series are all packaged in Battroid right (sorry I'm going off memory, and I also don't own any HMR)?

What was the unit price they charged you? I assume they add on the local shipping to their warehouse and that’s it. Payment upfront is the same for all the proxy resellers. The only difference is if you have to pay estimated international shipping upfront Seems like FJ and AE have the advantage over the others so far. (Except FJ for Aussies is 10% extra on top) (Unless AUD tanks more over the next 5 months then I will be wishing I paid estimated shipping upfront. LOL).
