  1. Thanks to davidwhangchoi, I finally was able to get a pair of the exclusive binders! I'm keeping them sealed in the plastic for now. But I will probably open them up later. Front Back and on the shelf (left) with everything else
  2. I've been trying to secure one of each since they were first announced, but so far no luck. At this point I think my best bet is to hope someone puts some on eBay. That is, if I can get someone to tell me when they will actually be released.
  3. I never transformed mine and it's still showing cracks in the "Nuns" pieces as well as the underside black triangles. I sincerely hope you have much better luck then I did!
  4. I wouldn't say every fan. But I imagine a few people might be interested if there was a possible "group buy" available
  5. I still would love to get one of each of these somehow. I see a date listed of 8/1/2014 on the webpage. Is that the release date? Seems a bit far off for selling pre-orders if it is. If not, can someone let me know what the release date is? Thanks!
  6. If it were me, I'd go with the Alto over the CF because of all the breakage issues with the later. As I mentioned, I have barely touched mine and the "NUNS" black parts and the black triangles underneath both have nice cracks. I just got the armor for it (which I ordered long before I saw the cracks) and when putting on I was paranoid the black parts were going to fall apart because I was actually handling the Valk. So pretty much my CF will NEVER be transformed. Sad because it's a TRANSFORMING figure. I say screw the wing-hard points, get an Alto and CF armor if you can't find Alto armor within your price range. At least that would probably be something you can actually handle and enjoy!
  7. But, unless you want to use the blue CF wings with hard-points you won't be able to use the missiles that come with the armor set.
  8. The markings are present in the line-art, however they are not colored light grey. And I believe those images were fan-colored as opposed to officially colored.
  9. My VF-171 has been sitting in a display case since I bought it. Other then attaching the gunpod and lowering the gear, it's been virtually untouched. I just checked it out and sure enough, cracks on both black triangles. Nice job Bandai. That has to be some sort of record for easiest Valk breakage. Do nothing and it still breaks.
  10. Thank you for that info. If anyone who is able to order from them would be willing to help me get one of each I'd appreciate it. I would certainly pay extra for their time of course :-)
  11. Does it say the cover binders will be available everywhere, or are they an shop/online exclusive? I assume with the limited run it will be the latter, but you never know. Thanks in advance!
  12. Apparently I wasn't pushing hard enough but I managed to snap the "c" hook it into place. It's tricky with these things, sometimes you need to use a little force, other times a little force puts you in the "I broke my Valkyrie" club. I was trying to avoid the latter. But all is good now. Thanks for the tip!
  13. Got mine yesterday. Not bad, although I liked the way the V1 gun clipped attached in fighter mode A LOT better. I had a heck of a time with the new one. The "C" type hook towards the front doesn't lock in well at all. I fiddled with mine for a long time trying to get it displayed with the gear down and gun barrel open. That hook doesn't really work with it this way. It either collapses or pops out. And the optional piece that plugs into the arm isn't very secure either. Mine moves around easily and doesn't hold the gun handle very well. Not sure why Bandai switched to a much more complicated and less secure method.
  14. Uh, the US isn't the only place where people speak English. Besides, in these wonderful times were the internet allows us to purchase things from all over the world, something doesn't have to be "officially released" in one particular place to be purchased. So unless someone has some hard evidence, I don't believe the English market was considered as insignificant as some of you are matter-of-factually stating it was.
  15. People here keep saying the release wasn't meant for the US. Is that official information or just more speculation? I understand they cannot officially "release it in the US" because of the Harmony Gold crap. But does anyone here actually know what the intentions where toward the English speaking market?
  16. I have all my stuff sitting in display cases in the living room. The main case has a giant sliding glass door that's kind of tricky to open. Having visitors I don't know is rare. But when I'm dating and I bring a woman over, right before I put the key in the door I say something like "oh, by the way, I have a dead spider collection (or shrunken heads)" when they see they are only robots they are actually pretty relieved
  17. Nice one Graham. However, if it's a sign of things to come, perhaps it might be more fitting to cover all the releases by just calling the whole series "Macro$$"
  18. You know, it's funny I thought the same thing about the heatshield name. It's primary function does seem to be more of a canopy cover or protector than a heatshield. "Look out, it's a campfire, better use my HEATSHIELD!" Since Hikaru did refer to it as that, I think it boils down to more of a label then a function name. And yeah, it was in the Robotech books that the pilot moved up into the head. Apparently the author did absolutely no research before writing that.
  19. Tochiro, I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. And yes, my knowledge of the Macross politics is pretty much zero. However, as a consumer that has purchased and watched lots of subtitled animation, my expectation for officially released products is that they will take the time to do it right. When a produce says "english subtitles" there is not a "grade" as to if the quality of the subtitles. Generally they are pretty accurate and make sense (unless of course you are talking about bootlegs or fan subs, the same expectation does not apply) It's not that the subs and poor dub voices on the last episode are that big of a deal in the grand scheme of it all, but as you mentioned it could have been done better (the dubbing issue was a bit more complicated, I get that). I realize Gundam is a much more powerful entity with the English-speaking crowd, but you probably wouldn't see poor subs on those releases. In my mind Macross > Gundam. Especially Macross Plus which is amazing. Yes I am not the target audience, but that shouldn't matter in my opinion, I'm still an audience and part of a large fanbase. While having English on the disks is great. It doesn't make me feel respected as an English-speaking fan. It's more like, "we threw in some subs, be satisfied." But again it boils down to my own expectations. This is Macross, I want to be more then just "satisfied," because it's awesome and deserves better, if not the best, in my opinion.
  20. I really can't imagine going through life with such low standards and exceptions on what you spend your money on, but if it's gotten you this far, more power to you.
  21. Because maybe your translator sucks and you should get a second opinion on his work just to be sure? And no, it's not apples and oranges. It's the same "sing praise or STFU" mentality.
  22. You must have missed the part where I said 0$ to $200 for proofreading a SCRIPT (the end product AFTER a translation). Not the whole translation process itself. Like having multiple sources verify your work? Seriously, we're talking about someone verifying English subtitles for accuracy, not some island language only 10 people speak. I refuse to believe it was that hard to find someone capable for a relatively modest fee. But whatever, if you people are that easily satisfied with sub-par work, then be my guest. The same thing is going on in the 1/72 Bandai model thread. Is it a surprise that some of the same people are defending that too?
  23. I see what you guys mean. Emailing a script to someone that is moderately proficient in English for proofreading probably cost anywhere between $0 to maybe $200 at most. That amount of money would no doubt push any budget over the edge.
