  1. It was broadcast on Teletoon in Canada in the late 90's. My brother taped on VHS and loaned them to me. I watched it all in one sitting. It was awesome!!
  2. Interesting. I had always assumed she merely repeated what he said. This puts a whole new light into that scene. She hears a word, doesn't know what it means, and is going to learn something new. Thanks for clarifying.
  3. This thread has been a lot of fun. Thanks to the mods for keeping open for so long. Here's hoping HG's next "great" idea comes along sooner rather than later (I've stopped eating popcorn and am going through withdrawal).
  4. I think that right now, many of us would like to be a fly on the wall of Frank Agrama's office. I would really love to know what he thinks of this whole thing. While he must surely have known that the RT franchise was not as popular as it once was, the failure of this KS must cement in his mind that his once mighty franchise is not so mighty anymore.
  5. What I find funny is how some of the RT fanatics went all conspiratorial and blamed the Macross fans for this failure. I mean, it's not like anyone here has any power to influence anything that went on in that kickstarter. I mean, the only people on this board with any real power are Shawn & Graham... who have been mysteriously silent during this whole thread... Omg, they are the Masons/Illuminati/Skulls who are running this whole sabotage of the KS from the background. I'm onto to you guys
  6. One question that I guess is virtually impossible ot answer is: were the 3 musketeers (Yune, Yune, McKeever) surprised at the total amount of negativity in the KS page? We all know they banned everyone who said anything negative from the RT boards and pretty much only kept their die hard fans. One has to wonder if what they saw on their own boards truly made them think that it was representative of the whole world out there?
  7. I have eaten more popcorn during the last 3 weeks than I have in my entire life.
  8. It is truly outrageous that a Jem movie is getting made before Robotech.
  9. To sort of defend the RT fans back when the remastered version was announced (I can't believe I'm doing that ), I remember one of the reasons the fans freaked out back in 2003 was that when the very first (non-remastered) 2001 sets were announced, the fans did ask why we weren't getting a remastered version then. The answer was that the masters that those sets were sourced from were already very old. To create a new remastered version would require a new transfer from HG's 16mm prints that Tatsunoko provided as part of their licensing of the 3 shows and essentially reassemble the show. HG were quite clear that this was supposed to be impossible as their edit logs they used to assemble RT could no longer be found. After Animeigo remastered SDF Macross and ADV remastered Southern Cross & Mospeada, HG suddenly annouced that they had found their edit logs and were going to do exaclty what they had said was impossible 2 years previously. HG announced that they would assemble a new version of RT using the remastered footage by making a new edit log. This is after the fans had already spent a lot of money on the original ADV release of RT. So, way back then, even if HG were telling the truth about their edit logs, their sudden annoucement made me feel jipped. I can understand a bit why so many fans freaked out. (Edited as my memory was a bit fuzzy, but google helped me out)
  10. I remember watching RT:SC, and, despite being familiar with the old series and having read the Sentinels books, being a bit lost on some plot points. I never knew that you had to have read that Prelude comic in order to get up to date on things prior to the movie. This would be a big problem for this new series (if it gets done). Can the writers present a show that newcomers can understand without having seen anything else? Judging by their previous effort in RT:SC, I'm not so sure about that.
  11. In other words, my Animeigo set is not going anywhere. (holding it close to my chest: presssciioouuussss) But yeah, nothing that they announced at SDCC makes me want to donate. They didn't push anything about this pilot/series that would make me curious enough to give them money for it.
  12. You know, that popcorn is starting to look really good. (We need like a salivating smilie ) By the way, I've not noticed it in the previous 26 pages of this topic, but what do Shawn & Graham think of this whole thing?
  13. Speaking of Frank, is it remotely possible that he will just pony up the balance of this kickstarter if the fans fail to meet the 500K? Or, am I just being paranoid?
  14. Sentinels was being developed with Matchbox as a toy sponser. I would wonder if the reason they don't want to use those mechanical designs, aside from being very outdated 80's designs, is that the agreement with Matchbox (now Mattel) might not still be valid. In that case, it would be better for HG to go with all new designs that they would own and license with as they please.
  15. Not that I want this KS to succeed, but if HG had been asking for only 250 grand, instead of 500 grand, would more people have been inclined to donate? A lot of discussion on people not wanting to pledge seems to be because of the very large amount HG is asking for.
  16. I was checking my emails today. My junk mail folder had an email from HG announcing the KS. I was registered in the RT forums, but haven't posted since the mid 2000's. If they are digging up old member emails like that, they must really be scrapping the bottom of the barrel. And yes, that email was exactly where it belonged.
  17. Let me throw you a rope and pull you back to the lightside. The idea behind this KS is to fund a tv pilot. But, the ultimate goal is to greenlight a tv series. Can such a series succeed with the current people at HG working on it? That is what you have to ask yourself when you think about donating. A pilot is possible. But a network greenlighting a full series produced by people with an unproven track record? That is a lot harder to get going.
  18. Cranston was not credited as his own name in Macross Plus. This was most likely because he was doing non-union work. He probably doesn't publicly mention his non-union roles in order to avoid any sort of trouble with the screen actors' guild.
  19. I agree with Seto. I just think that they just navigated their way beyond even what would be human explored space in Macross Frontier's time and are doing whatever it is that Colony ships do.
  20. Want to see this so bad! While I want to see it in Japanese, I might just prefer a French dub. Albator!!! P.S. For this thread, we need a pirate smilie.
  21. I have never seen it. The original Seed really did not agree with my tastes. When I heard the fan reaction to Destiny, I knew I should just skip it.
  22. No worries. I had no plans to really watch it again anytime soon. Maybe, by the time I do watch it, I'll have re-forgotten. I would agee with that. She was pretty bad ass.
  23. That's how it ended? Wow, I watched this show 2 years ago, and had already totally forgotten how the Haman plot wrapped up.
