  1. True dat. Of course I could've bought that same Rick MPC for about $25 less than a year ago, so it's all about timing. RTShark put it best - the plan is quite simple. Wait for Vol. 1 to come out, see what's good and bad about the toy, then just watch the prices... if it gets fantastic reviews and stays full price, good for Toynami. But I seriously doubt it. As for the numbers of Mospeada fans... I just don't see it. Sure, there's no competition, but you're talking about an anime that just simply does not have as many fans as Macross - even Macross as part of Robotech. The designs aren't as classic. It isn't about how many options the Mospeada fan has, but rather how many people recognize the Alpha on sight. Or maybe there's a huge Mospeadaworld website crowd out there... but they're deep in hiding, like the Freemasons.
  2. Another reason I'm super-glad our cable company offers DVR. I don't think I've watched "live" television since I got it. Fast forwarded commercials rock.
  3. Mayhap actual Macross fans who know what DYRL is have learned not to buy Toynami's craptastic offerings.
  4. I dunno... the bashing it's getting is pretty harsh and some valid criticisms... beyond the usual Harry pimping a different movie style. Somehow I doubt I'll see this one in the theaters unless somebody raves about it to me with a pretty good review.
  5. Update - 1/48 - 4 1/60 - 4 1/72 - 2
  6. No kidding. I mean Yamato can not just ignore us. We have a significant dent into their profits. Hell, they should send sithlord a gift basket or something... the nice kind, with the different cheeses... Fun thread McPaz - this was quite interesting.
  7. Since George W made his speech on Tuesday, this week's 24 is going to be on Sunday night, just in case you folks weren't aware.
  8. Yup, that's another reason me wanting the TV version. So the Stirke armor never appear in any of the TV series? I know there is none in the Macross Saga, but I'm not too sure for the one after that. I think you might be referring to Robotech... because you said "Macross Saga", which is how it's known in RT. The other "parts" of RT are actually 2 completely different animes (Southern Cross and Mospeada) that have been re-written, so there's no chance of a valk of any kind showing up in those. Take a look here Differences between Macross and Robotech for more info.
  9. The most obvious "why not?" is the money. Such a toy would have to cost over $300, possibly as much as $500. Once you start spending that kinda money on a toy, then any imperfection becomes a HUGE problem. I can't imagine spending that kind of money and receiving a toy with a crooked Skull emblem or (gasp!) a broken backpack hinge. All that being said, I would probably skimp and save and buy at least one... I would hope for a fully GI-Joe style articulated pilot. That would be cool.
  10. Hey Hector... there's a ton of differences between Bandai, Yamato, etc... do you some research - there's reviews of each all over the web. Or tons of members will fall all over themselves fairly soon explaining which toy they like best. As for this - That would be a VF-1J Hikaru with GBP armor. Takatoku released GBP armor for the 1/55 years ago, but it can be expensive to get. Or you can get Yamato's upcoming 1/60 VF-1J w/ GBP armor that's due out in May. Welcome to the boards!
  11. That is simply incredible work, Kurt. I've never seen canon 1/48's look so good.
  12. That's a bunch of poo-poo. I watched it last night and the quality is superb. How could it be a bad transfer when the film is less than a year old? From the DVDJournal.com - Miramax presents Kill Bill Volume 1 in anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1), and both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio. A fine transfer, this title probably is best enjoyed at high volume. They ain't kidding, either. The sound rocks. But waiting for the box set is probably a good idea. I wouldn't have bought the disc myself, but my g/f loves it and bought it herself (now she has almost 10 DVDs on the shelf... I have over 300 ) This bit about the box was posted on thedigitalbits.com I'm just glad to hear the color version in the Japan release will be available eventually here.
  13. No offence but bad pronunciation, and spelling for that matter, of English is pretty rampant in the US too Hybridchild hahahaha I was just about to write that. But I dunno, usually nerds that watch anime are able to spell pretty well. Tell me about... you folks must forget I live in the Deep South. Y'all really is a word. I swear it! Now I'm gonna go back to plucking my banjo and eyeing my sister.
  14. The race is really neck and neck now. I'm guessing it'll be a photo finish.
  15. MWAT are you talking about? That's a great name!
  16. Well... to be fair... Bad pronounciation of English is rampant like wildfire in Japan, too. Engrish Thread
  17. Now this is actually getting funny. My favorite part of your weird diatribe is that you think I'm the one that's riled up. Uh... right. My other favorite part is that you claim that you're not playing semantics crap and that what you're saying is in this least bit coherent. Suuure. Just to set things straight, since this is going nowhere... I'm not the one who suggested that you claimed "Yamato lied to Graham", that would be EXO, and in his defense, he asked it as a question - basically wondering what the hell you were babbling about with your incoherent nonsense. We are all wondering about that, too. Moreso with each post. I don't dislike you, Hurin... I'm not arguing to argue. I'm not going to post all day when I've made my point and you continue to posture with your "theories". I'd really love it if you just let this drop and quit crying about it. But if it makes you happy - I never said that you are directly insulting Graham. My words were intended to point out that your argument is conjecture and that it could be perceived as insulting to Graham, without meaning to be. I'll stand by that. It's a simple matter of respect to one who gives us a place to argue about crap like this in the first place. Again, show me an actual fact or feel free to insult me via PM, if it makes you feel like you're a winner. Other than that, please stop with this... it's gotten embarrassing.
  18. You need to read this thread again. I'll help you: Exo: "So you're saying that Yamato lied to Graham?" Hurin: "And, yes, I'm saying it's entirely possible that Yamato "passed the buck" to BW. Instead of angering the community, they can just say: "Well, we wouldn't have been allowed to do so, even if we wanted to. . . sorry." Not exactly a lie. More like spin." Care to show me where Graham ever lies there? Even Exo's initial question is about Yamato lying to Graham. Care to show me where I "insinuate" that Graham has lied? Obviously, he is merely reporting what he has been told. Your reasoning is way off here. . . far from "plain and simple." And truth be told, I can't comment further on how faulty your reasoning here is without getting unduly personal. If this is you just trying to "stick to the facts" I'd hate to see what sort of conclusions you come up with when you feel free to make things up. Okay, first, if you are really "offended" on Yamato's part, my first tip for you would be to develop a thicker skin. Second, I never accused them of not "telling the truth." A'la: Finally, if you find it offensive that I have "inserted an opinion" that to me (and I'm sure many others) simply seems like common, freakin' sense. . . you're in the wrong place. And, again, there is this tone that somehow I've got an axe to grind with Yamato about this. I don't. I have been up and down these boards defending them against senseless whining. I got into this thread coming to their defense about not offering swappable heads, as I had done before. But, even while doing so, I mentioned that I consider it highly unlikely that the only thing stopping them from doing so was BigWest. Again, if you find any of that offensive, you need to grow up. Personally, I can't believe how much you've blown things out of proportion, distorted the facts, and tried to make charges that are plainly not true. All for what? Why exactly do you insist on seeing nefarious motives where none exist? You can sum up what I said in two sentences: I don't think Yamato would have offered seperate heads regardless of what BW said. I also think it behooves them to cite BW's decision rather than "owning" it themselves. What the hell is your problem with that opinion? Are you really so sensitive on Yamato's behalf that you are actually "offended" by this? Apparently, judging by your own words, you are. Yet, exactly what heinous crime am I accusing them of here that "offends" you so much? They are, strictly speaking, telling the truth. Failing to volunteer further information (such as they themselves not wanting to offer seperate heads regardless of BW) does not constitute a lie. In that situation, they're just doing the smart thing. They were given "cover" by BW and I think they used it. Sue me. And, I won't even bother asking again how Graham repeating what he was told by Yamato regarding this somehow makes him a liar. You've already had strike three on that. You said you were going to start sticking to the facts. Please do. But also try to analyze them reasonably. Quite honestly, your whole tone here disturbs me. H Whatever, Hurin. Type another 4000 word ramble about how you're right... it's entertaining to me. Let's make this simple, okay, little angry one? Give me some proof that Yamato, rather than Big West, pushed for no swappable heads. Actual proof, not your whacked out opinion that seems like common sense to you, but an actual quote from someone at Yamato, Big West, etc. If you can't do that, then feel free to PM me and we can argue semantics about each word of our posts all day long if I'm not busy doing something more interesting, such as watching paint dry. Otherwise this is just going to turn into an even bigger waste of time than it already has been. You are wrong and you have nothing to back it up. Very, very simple. Quit hiding behind word games and BS.
  19. gack! Whatever's wrong with you... please don't let it spread to me! Seriously. That is just silly. The only difference is mistakes. The Second Version is a total upgrade from V.1 I doubt in years to come anyone would want version one... if they were aware at all that there were two different versions. Enjoy what you got. Go spend that money on a loved one or lap dances or something useful.
  20. Did it mention anything about him "getting laid alllllll summer long"? Seriously... why does anyone watch anime on CN? This is never a surprise.
  21. It would be a great addition, but you need to ask Graham or Shawn, not the mods. The mods edit the boards, Shawn and Graham make pages for the site. Also, it would be wise to make a thread like this in the Feedback for the Staff section, otherwise we'll all just continue to ignore you crazy paint-smelling modelers. Seriously, I think some of those buildups would be great material for the main site. Wm Cheng's thread is fascinating even to me and I couldn't put together a snap kit of the General Lee.
  22. Would it be even more offensive if someone photoshopped the Froating Head onto a golden calf? Or just equally as offensive? J/K - but making a point that this about humor, not religion. The Forum rules offer no protection against humor getting under your skin. But I also doubt that GM can't see the difference between a joke and idolatry. If I had to make a guess, the mocking of the Lord's prayer was probably enough to push this into debate-land. I can see how that would be offensive to a minister, even though I do not believe for an instant that the post was designed to do anything more than get a laugh.
  23. It would be cool if they released the TV Super Armor serperately at some point... but only if they would be cool enough to put out a 1/48 VF-1D. Otherwise, just like my 1/60's, the VF-1D will swipe Hikaru's armor and leave him nekkid and begging for some GBP.
  24. I'm so going to report you for that.
  25. Well... the shipping of the two large boxes as opposed to one is more expensive, too. But overall, you're correct. However, having both the Max Super 1J and the DYRL Super/Strike armor... it wouldn't look all that great with that armor. The TV style really does best suit the 1J and the Strike cannon was never a part of the TV series, so that would look out of place on a TV valk, IMHO.
