  1. That is awesome... but I prefer this one - click here if you watch Chappelle's show and/or love the song Superfreak.
  2. I think I understand your post... but I really just wanted to say that my new favorite phrase is now "Whore in Flight" In fact, I think the next game should be called - Robotech: Whore in Flight
  3. This just makes me hate you even more. J/K... I only wish I'd lived far away from rural Tennessee in the 80's. For many reasons, but this is one of them. I am with Kanata67 on this one. If they do reissue them, maybe they could color them differently, hopefully not "hot pink" but something Macross like. I think the printed decals, removable heatshields, and different packaging is enough for any collector to spot the obvious differences between reissue and original. Anything but Hot Pink. It'd be even cooler if they added more articulation and pilots, but I'm stunned they updated the originals as much as they did. Like I said originally... it's optimistic at best to hope that Bandai will even continue the rereleases at some point, much less to hope that they don't offend collectors of the original. As someone who had no access to such toys until a few years ago - of course, I want the toys to be released at a decent price to those who want them. The originals will always be collector's items. But we can all agree, reissue-buyers and original-collectors, on the fact that we love the chunky monkey - even if Bandai doesn't.
  4. I wouldn't hate him because he cameos himself in small parts in his films. To do that, you'd also have to hate M. Night Shyamalan, Peter Jackson, Mel Gibson, Kevin Smith, and about a million other directors, including Hitchcock himself. Even Kawamori shows up somewhere in Macross. It's a long standing tradition. Tarantino is a lot of things - in particular, he's a talent that is definitely not for everybody's tastes - but he definitely is not a white Spike Lee. They're so completely different in style and substance that the only thing they really have in common is living on Earth and having worked with Sam Jackson. Back on topic - The prequel sounds killer... but Tarantino has tendency to talk about alot of cool sounding projects that never show up. There's supposedly a WWII film, Glorious Bastards, a Vega Brothers movie... a million others. You can't really count on him until you see the trailer and a release date is announced. I'm just psyched for Kill Bill 2.

    Max VF-1S

Maximum profit for minimum effort. That and Big West said "no." I was a big proponent of the interchangeable head 1/48 before the toy was even released, but G-man passed on the bad news to us after we bugged him enough about it.
  6. Thanks, Anubis... I don't think I got involved 'til after that post. I've been coasting by using DA's template for far too long.
  7. And some of you folks are seriously gonna pay retail price for these Alpha MPC's? Loco, man... that's just loco.
  8. 'Tis no guinea pig, my friend. That is a rabbit with a pancake on his head. An old friend to Macrossworld.
  9. Heh... to be fair... Da Vinci's art has been reproduced about a billion times. I used to have Van Gogh's Sunflowers as a poster in my dorm room... I doubt the museum that owned the original minded. Like I said, I see where you're coming from - even if I disagree. Heck, from the looks of things, your collection's value is relatively safe considering Bandai's lack of Macross releases lately. I only wish I had those toys so I could be on your side!
  10. Welcome to the boards - you may want to check out this site - Lebhead's Guide to Macross/Robotech for beginners It has a ton of info for folks just figuing out the Macross/Robotech thing. And go get the DVDs for Macross... I think you'd like it. We all do. If you can't afford the legit releases, there are other/cheaper options out there.
  11. You know... considering that Yamato has put our 3 different 19's... and we've never seen the sculpt... why get hung up on it? To me, a variable Monster (at a reasonable size) is much more interesting news. Seriously, with all this anticipation, I'd say the first pics of the YF-19 FP is going to be one major bitchfest on this board. There's no way it can live up to all this hype.
  12. I like kittens (I have two cats), and I think bunnies taste mighty fine in a pie. Graham
  13. Metal? "Big hair sissy boys whining" sounds more appropriate for them. Dude... it's 2004. Are we still really arguing about what we call "metal?" I like the term "rock type band"... that's generic enough. Still I have that damned cheesy keyboard melody in my head.
  14. I see your point... but even the current Spider-zilla has that problem. The bottom of the center two legs on the spider-symbol can be "moved out of line" on two different chest pieces. But it doesn't really bother me. Basically, like the current toy, the front and back would look "perfect" in one position and "not quite right" in more bent over/bent back or twisted chest positions. Wouldn't bother me a bit... but I kinda expect these sorts of things with highly articulated action figures. To be honest, the same argument could be made about the current Spideyzilla and the shoulder and wrist rotating and disaligning the webs and blue underarm... at least that wouldn't be a problem with the black suit. Basically, I'm not trying to disagree with ya, brother Vinnie - I'm just saying it wouldn't be any worse than the current toy... which is fine by me. That and any excuse to use my new digital camera is good to me!
  15. Heh, actually I'm pretty anti-Eva as well. Graham Yup, EVA blows goats. Eva's are such a major throwback to super robots it makes me wanna puke. Is this the "I'm a mean old man who doesn't like anything" thread or what? oh yeah? Well, I don't just hate Gundam and EVA, I hate kittens and bunnies too! I like most everything. RX-78 and EVA included. But... I do hate tiny toys. And there's too much damn Gundam out there anyway. So poo on these little Gundam things.
  16. Heh... weird timing. I just got the Hase 1S today, so I'll try to get it scanned pronto. I'll be needing that address too, Mechamaniac. DA - do you have dimensions for the box? Twould make my life a bit easier.
  17. And well spoken at that. I'm sorry if a great many of you disagree with my logic but I had to save and brown bag my lunches to work for almost a year before I had enough to complete the Macross holy four. I'm sure many others had to go through just as much blood and sweat to complete their sets. Valkfan, I'm with you, if all of the valks were reissued then all we have left is "special packaging", it kinda takes all the fun outta collecting. While, yes, the prices are a bit extravegant it becomes a game of "how badly do you want it", if you don't want it that bad then you don't pay, if you do then you scrounge but in the end it's worth it. Not so if someone just got one that looks just like yours only about 20 years newer...then there's the jackasses that'll attempt to pass of a newer model for an older one and dupe an unsuspecting customer. I could go on all day but in the end I will say that if Bandai were to reissue the holy four it really cuts the legs of of the rest of us who went through hell to get the originals...unless they did something drastically different with them. ***To All: I apologize if I veered too far off topic (mainly I apologize to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 for this IS his topic about the history of...) if there any replies to what I wrote then please pm me, unless others feel them welcome here. Once again I apologize*** Sorry about the brown-bagging and all... but seeing a toy appreciate in value is secondary to buying something you want, regardless of it's market value. IE - if Bandai rereleases these toys - it really shouldn't "take all the fun out of collecting." It just deflates an overinflated trade value amongst fans. I'm sorry you feel that way about "having your legs cut from under you", but a reissue is fair and really shouldn't affect how much you enjoy your original toys. No offense to you - but I don't see you crying any tears for those who collected the original Takatoku VF-1J, M&M, Super, etc... then saw reissues half their inflated value on eBay. Why should you collection be more protected than anyone else's? It's a short-sided argument you guys have - I see your point, but you have to admit it's a bit selfish. I don't begrudge others toys that I paid alot for... if they can get them cheaper... then good for them. If somebody buys the 1/48 VF-1S for $20, I say good for them, even though I paid $125. If I was buying investments, it sure wouldn't be toys, it'd be land and stocks. As for this, my little friend EXO- It sounds like it makes sense... but it really doesn't. I really think one single press release or informed source is in order before I believe internet "word" about licensing. (CUE HARMONY GOLD JOKE HERE) Seriously... I've never seen any proof whatsoever for this statement... to be honest, the main reason I doubt it is because we never, ever know what the hell is going on with Bandai. We never knew what was coming out next until they released pictures... yet somehow we all know now the status of their licensing? I doubt it.

    Max VF-1S

Lessee... a Max 1S? I'd get one... eventually. I'm assuming that CF VF-1A is inevitable and I'll leave out 2-seater valks, so that we're simply talking about the existing 1 seat VF-1 mold. I guess my order of preference (leaving out the CF - which I think we'll see real soon, regardless) would be: Kakizaki DYRL 1A - it's only fair... and it's about time. Max DYRL 1S - with that many customs out there, it's definitely worth it. TV Max 1A - not a fan of this paint scheme, but it is a major part of Macross TV. TV Kakizaki 1A - see above. As for Angel Birds, Minmay Guard, etc... nah. I like the valks that played at least some part in the show and movie.
  19. Nah... it's just like the symbol on Spidey's back... no real distortion, just a bit of adjusting, as if the fabric was stretching the image a bit out of proportion. They did a fine job with the 5" Black Costume super poseable from a few years back. They should just make it like him... except bigger. Much, much, much bigger. Note the scale reference behind my black spidey below.
  20. Am I the only one who sees this thread and starts humming that goofy 80's metal song by Europe?
  21. Spoken like a man who has the 3 original issue 1/55's. Screw that logic. Collectors who have the originals would just have to deal with the value of those reissues dropping - they're overinflated price-wise anyway. The originals will always be worth more, just maybe not as much as they used to get, anyway. I think Bandai should re-release the remaining 3 1/55 valks before doing anything else. There are enough differences between the reissues and the originals as to not need anything like a new color, etc. Why would Bandai care what collectors of the originals feel about reissues? It's not like collectors pay Bandai $1000 for a mint Elintseeker... Bandai hasn't seen a dime from those toys since DYRL came out. And as far as that goes - I've heard that rumor about 500 times stated as fact - yet no one can point to a single piece of proof. A bit of logic would make that seem incredibly unlikely... licenses expire when they aren't used. They waited over 10 years between the 90 Super valk and the first of the reissues and the license didn't expire... yet supposedly the license expired a month after they reissued Max and Millia? Very doubtful. Then you get into the logic of such a decision... why wait 20 years, then get rid of a license? Bandai would never let a classic toy license like the 1/55 VF-1 lapse. They may ignore it for decades at a time, but they aren't in the business of throwing away classic toy designs and licenses. Hell, we all know they still have the Macross 7 license - as Graham has mentioned before (in explanation as to why no Yamato M7 valks)... you folks honestly believe Bandai would keep the M7 license, but let the 1/55 license expire? I don't think so. Either way, the 1/55 is still my favorite Macross toy and I only wish Bandai would do more with it... or at the very least - finish what they started. Even if they had to charge higher prices and make smaller runs of each toy... I'd happily buy a reissue Ostrich, Elint, and GBP.
  22. Emma Watson, is a bit british for the part of Asuka, but I suppose that could be worked around in voice coaching... I'd say cast it with complete unknowns and use the money for effects, 'cause it would need it. Besides, all the pre-emptive bitching about so-and-so not being right for the part would be pretty much invalid. Let the power of the license and the imagery sell moviegoers on checking it out. Worked for Harry Potter, another story with young protagonists. Of course, studios don't think that way, normally. They feel like they need names to sell the movie. Silly.
  23. I'll always love the comic more... But the movie was fun and a good ride. Del Toro's a badass and you can definitely tell this movie was something he wanted to do. Judging by the reaction in the theater, I'd say it won over a lot of people who would never, ever have read the comic. So, all in all, a fun little movie... but I'll stick to Mignola's art for my Hellboy fix.
  24. Most people around here would agree that a CF VF-1A is a pretty safe bet. But Graham said something to the effect of not seeing any 2-seater VF-1s anytime soon, which rules out the VF-1D, VT-1, and VE-1... I'm hoping Yamato will change their mind, or speed that up... I will go on record as saying a 1/48 Ostrich would rock the house.
  25. Gorgeous... seriously, that is some beautiful work. Except, I still feel bad for Kakizaki..
