  1. Very cool stuff. I definitely like the dark Legioss lineart in there. BTW, when did those DVDs get released?
  2. I wouldn't go that far. As far as I've always been concerned, Robotech has, and always will be, a novelty franchise. While it was creative how they were able to mend unmatching series together for syndication, original Robotech's creativity really only seemed to stem from the original plots. Robotech vs. the original 3 series was different, but for the lameman, there's not much. Thus, the reason why every attempt at producing a new Robotech has been either unsuccessful, or a piece of crap feature. My statement there was an attempt at at least giving someone some credit over there. It is comical if you are indeed correct in this statement.
  3. Thanks for posting up those DVD liners, they are pretty cool. I just put one of my Mospeada books on the scanner, and started putting them on a thumb drive. I'm sure most, if not all of you have the book, but if you don't, I'll put up a couple scans of it soon. One of them Is of a small poster. Akim, nice lineart pics of the dinosaurs. Cool stuff.
  4. Tom Bateman ran the store, so that doesn't take any excessive qualifications. As for his work with conventions and all the work he did with that for HG, the success of his "fan convention" that you mentioned speaks for that. As for Alan Letz, I don't know much about him, so I couldn't tell much more about his background. He could've been qualified for his position, could've been a fluke as well. who knows. Steve may be qualified as his job is web site admin. But I would agree on the point that what is left now, there is nobody decent enough to do what needs to be done. Sometimes, talent doesn't doesn't come from "being qualified" as well. Everyone's gotta start somewhere, with something. Then again, people also need to know when to bow out with at least a little face.
  5. Having a wife who supports my hobby partially is very nice. My "expendable" income used to be in real estate, and hopefully, that'll come back sometime later this year or sometime next year. Till then, I am selling stuff I definitely can do without to get things I can probably do without, but want more than the others Other than those, I rely on getting my pay grade increases to help support my habbit. Someone, stop the insanity!!!
  6. Are you serious??? Are the fans that deprived that they have done that? Precious!!!
  7. Maybe there were really manly females on testosterone pills in the female fleet. I dunno, I'm just thinking like a typical Robotech fan, trying to justify it.
  8. I will admit, there's only so many times one can prove the ignorance of the "RT" staff. While each one of them has a their shortcomings, I think the person who really makes it show for the staff there is Kevin. I've never seen someone in any type of "PR" position misrepresent (on hold/hiatus drama), and buckle under simple fan questioning. Even in the poor fashion they are working in, at least Tommy is trying in his own warped and sad way. the staff over there remind me of the Beverly Hillbillies...they're just 3 guys out of their league, don't belong, and everyone can see it, but there they are. It doesn't bother me one bit, I do find it funny. While not expecting anything to happen, it would be nice if the LAM either gives WB a push to buy the franchise, or does poorly, and HG takes their franchise further into obscurity to where it disappears. Either way, it's time for something different already. Is it just me, or do any of you think that HG has done more of a disservice to the fans by what they've done with holding off Macross from coming here? Even if BW doesn't want to deal with HG, there's a reason, and more than likely has to do with backdoor business decisions, and lots of burned bridges. I dunno, just my gut feelings over that whole issue. Even when I was a part of their website, I always felt like that was really a stick in the back of RT fans.
  9. These exclusives are sucking my account dry. I don't think I'll be getting the Alto super armor, although, I'm a bit torn. There's only so many things I can sell to justify buying all this stuff. After prepaying for all the Yamato 1/1 scale helmets, I'm about all hobbied out by now.
  10. thanks for the link. I'm sure wherever their plane is going, we're all buying tickets. Hmmm, cosplay airlines. Definitely on the novelty side of things, but it would be interesting. Some of those pics are a little off, but some of the others are awesome. The costumes are top notch.
  11. Sounds good, but uh, what is your book about?
  12. I can't see the pics from the first link up top. Anyone wanna post the rest up here? So far, those look pretty damn awesome.
  13. As for a department that does that, no. It's just those 3 as of now. A number of years ago, it was 5, with Alan Letz, and Tom Bateman. But now it's just the 3 unqualified, so there's why what you've seen is what you get.
  14. Now, that would be a definite buy. I'm hoping for this thing more like in the $40-$60 range. Anymore than that, and I may pass. Too many other things to get that $60+ dollars can go to.
  15. Hmmm, don't know about getting 3, but definitely holding off other valks to buy this. There's just too many damn valks this year. A good thing, but not for the wallet.
  16. For the entire company itself that work in that building on Sunset, I think there's about 30 or more, give or take a few. That's just from what I've seen. From those there that actually work with Robotech, it's Tommy, Kevin, and Steve pretty much. It's not really a well oiled machine, just a bunch of half skilled rag tags, but I'm sure there are other depts. that work with them from time to time on specific things, such as licensing and legal matters. As far as unused designs, I haven't seen the new books, except for the RTSC book. I don't think they've used all the designs intended. There was a design of a MOSPEADA ride armor with hover characteristics, and a space version ride armor suit. Wait, I do know there was a design for RTSC for a hoover cyclone that looks like the original, so scratch that. I can only think of the space ride armor for now. As for Southern Cross, I believe I have lineart of a Hoover tank with a top for space. Don't know if that was the modified one in the show or supposed to be a concept or later design for the story, but I don't think they've exploited that.
  17. Everytime I look at that jeep, I just cringe. Makes me really understand how under-creative this franchise has been for a looooonnnnnnggggg time. I think Robotech has been blessed, and now cursed by continuing to use the original design works. It was the original designs that got so many interested in the series, but now they are almost forced to use those same designs due to the length of time they've had with no original content. 20+ years, and all the fans boast how well the series can do after all that time (a sad misconception), but I wonder how well it'd do with a movie, or series with completely new mecha, and all new characters? It seems like they can't escape from the licenses they have.
  18. LOL, Already have my double nuts, wouldn't mind the Valkyrie though. I've already conceded that I'm running behind on the 1/60 v.2 series, but the 2 seaters I will no skip out on. I have a feeling these are gonna sell like hotcakes, so need to make sure there's one with my name on one in case any of these decide to be limited versions.
  19. Very nice, could always appreciate Macross items that have real world application and use. Anyone know where these are for sale at online?
  20. It's not too bad looking at all. Is there any confirmation of size on this thing? As long as it's not a price gouge, I should be getting one. If it is coming with an alternate head, I hope they show that soon.
  21. Is the 1D being re-released simply because they are all sold-out, or is there another reason? I'm really liking the Elint. I can see I'm gonna need to ebay another batch of toys and generate some more dough for other toys and things.
  22. That QF3000 looks awesome. Great work! Can't wait to see the texture for it.
  23. Very nice box art. Did you design it all yourself? Congrats on the beautiful job.
  24. I could careless about some function that is useless in the first place. Even if the 1/60s were able to do it, it's a "feature" (if you can call it that) that seems more of a wasted fluke. I like the way the new pods look, as they don't look so overly big.
  25. When Robotech first aired back in March 85, I had a friend from Japan in the same elementary school as I. He explained to me what Robotech was, and I actually got to see SDF:M way back when during the airing of Robotech. When Robotech branched off into Southern Cross, it was a bit jarring for me, but, since it was in English, at least I could understand what was going on. Robotech was great for its time, and like many have said, redubbing and doing the crop shop work of anime was acceptable back then. It's really a shame that they haven't become their own yet, after 20-some-odd years. Still cropping the original art, and jacking the fresh ideas of people who had them over 20 years ago, and trying to make it fresh. No bueno.
