I'm sure once all parties get back from their excursions, we'll sort out a game plan for events and all. When I get back from my vacation, I'll be geared up and ready to hit the pavement with this. Having a DJ play will be fun. I'm gonna see if we can get my band to play as well. We can do a couple Macross and other anime songs.

Thanks for your long, but detailed answer. I guess everyone has a reason or two to stick with things they grew up with. For me, and the only reason why I still stick around it, is mostly due to friends. It's the good fans/friends that keep me still interested in what Robotech ONCE WAS. It's very unfortunate that the few vocal morons and staff feel they need to destroy what was good of the series. When I decided to "leave the fandom" (more like chose to say some things to ban myself), the franchise was already on a path I didn't care to follow. Having friends that were involved then and now like Michael Bradley, Tom Bateman, Richard Epcar, JT, and so on, those are the people that if I "get involved", attend events, and the sort, they're the reason why I bother. The good people. I found this an interesting idea. The books weren't as bad as some remember, nor were they as great as some remember. The problem is, if they did this, what would be the response HG would use for the decanonization of all the Sentinels material and all that? Perhaps they should revisit those books. At least those interested in seeing what possibly happened between the last ep of Macross Saga and Symphony of light (not the Edwards Freak Monster show garbage that made it to the comic).

Remind us again why there's this Robotech infopedia thing being done for something you don't like, Seto? I'm not criticising you, just truly curious. From many of your posts, it sounds like you don't like Robotech at all. If you don't, that's all fine and whatnot, but if that is the case, why would you be giving so much attention to something that you don't like the series, you don't like the idiots that work for it, and you don't like the extreme vocals of the f!@#tard group? If it's cause you do still have interest in it, I'm curious how much interest you have to be doing this. If it's for a group of friends, that's cool and all, but I'm curious here, and it seems like others are as well.

MickyG's Yamato VF-1S Unpainted, Unassembled Kit Build
Jasonc replied to mickyg's topic in The Workshop!
In response to the glue issue. I took apart one of the No Painting pre-builts for my custom that I finished a couple weeksa ago, and let me say that the glue isn't 100% necessary, but is if you wanna keep gaps in the legs and some other areas to a minimum. On my Sheryl Guard custom, if you look at the pics, in this forum, you'll see that there are some gaps in the legs. Now, it's not a deal breaker, but I just didn't want to worry about glue, and decided to work without it on this one. I'll probably use it in the unassembled versions I have. Oh, and for the record, taking these apart isn't as hard as I imagined it'd be. And if you have one of the unpainted ones that's assembled, they're good practice for putting them back together. these completely unassembled ones shouldn't be too dificult. As for the shoulders from a true v.2 and not 2.1, if it has the ribbed pins, you can goto a hardwars store and find pins to match that don't have it, or you can sand or flatten out the given ones. Rule of thumb for helping the preservation, loosen the arms a bit. More play will divert stress into the loose area, and away from the stressed, problem area. -
That doesn't surprise me in the least bit, as there were people all the time that would ask the strangest, most confusing questions in trying to understand Robotech. It seems to be a common thread for this type of cartoon that was spliced together storywise.

Hmmm, thought of getting the band together to learn this song, too. There's still one song I've been practicing, and am pretty much ready to play with the band, and that's Light the Light, and can probably do Angel Voice. As for the new Fire Bomber Songs, while I don't have them all yet, I'm working on those. If anyone can find guitar tablature for the new Fire Bomber songs, please let me know. I haven't found any as of yet.

And in this, lies one of the biggest problems. Yes, it's great that Carl Macek is remembered and all that. It's great that fans can come together and whatnot. However, why does it have to turn into a Robotech LAM promotion, and have all the Tommy Yune characters around his head. Tasteless is exactly what I'd call that. It's like all the Robotech crap is in the front, and CM is simply the means to promote all that. Forget that Carl worked on bigger things than Robotech, like Bleach, and other anime titles. Forget that he had his own books out. Let's make it all about Robotech, not Carl Macek.

If you think having Bandai add english subs to their Japanese BR and DVDs, write them a letter. I'm sure if enough people write a letter to them, it'd be considered. I'm sure they're somewhat aware of the fan sub market out there, and I have suggested a group letter for this workaround, kinda like a petition. Someone start it up, and I'll definitely sign it. And, just for the record, I like Macross where it is. If it never came over here, I'd be just fine with that. The "keeping Macross pure tax" is OK by me.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Jasonc replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Wow, didn't know this thread was going to be a thread about stealing and a question of fansom. For those of us here in the barren Macross free zone, I try to keep a balance. I buy tons of Macross items all the time. However, with the DVD/Blu-Ray stuff, sometimes it's not practical for all of us. That said, I have DVDs of Macross 7 that aren't the R2 originals. Am I gonna track those down? No, not unless there is a re-release with official english subs. On the flipside of that, I have about half of the BR of Macross Frontier and I have them downloaded with the subs. I can understand both sides, that's why there should be a balance. The franchise definitely gets it's money from me in things that I support. -
I'm sure he means this. www.rt25celebration.com I'm attending this thing, so I hope the Macross event isn't the same time. The "Robotech thing" is September 18th weekend.

HG, through Toynami has released DYRL toys, but never anything as far as the DVDs or the actual feature. It would seem that if HG's legal isn't even sure about it, I'm using some pretty decent logic here, but I doubt Tommy would know for certain as well.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Jasonc replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Since Movie 2 comes out in October, at least we all know that this first movie comes out before that, at least I'm more that 90% sure of that. Watch one ep. of Frontier a week, and it'll be out before the end. -
This is definitely sad news. I know most here wouldn't be Macross fans if it wasn't for Carl making Robotech. Politics aside, he helped shape all of us here, whether we know it or not, and his work in entertainment will not be forgotten. Thank you Carl for the love and dedication you put into your work. My condolences to the family. May they find comfort in knowing that many people loved and respected the man.

You know I'll help with what I can.

The problem with that task, is that it would require one, or more people to watch it again, and probably again after that. Things I know for a fact I cannot bring myself to do. I've seen it 2.5 times, and I think that's about all I can stomach. The fact that HG keeps bragging about it being a top 10 pick in some no namer magazine, and winning best animated film in some film festival where it was pretty much the only entry actually helps people turn away from it (except the diehards, and no harm there).

Macross is definitely popular, even here in the states. It's surprising to see the cosplayers here in various states. Word of mouth and a strong anime help this out.
-
I don't have the book out to get scans, but I can tell you that if you are a fan of the character, this is a great book. Lot's of scrumpdidleumptious photos. One of the books I was more than happy to pick up for sure. I don't think you'd be disappointed at all.

I'll have two fan racers if this works out. I wish they'd just come out with one that had landing gear, and all, and came with the damn Hikaru pilot. But if the group buy goes into effect, I'm definitely in.
-
Nah man, Songstress of the Galaxy! Hahaha. As for the Matchbox fiasco, their toys were hit an miss. As a kid, I collected the Zentraedi figs, Battlepods, invid, and the joke machines. But I could never get into the hero figs. They always looked so freakin fugly. Scott was alright though, as his hair was short, so adapting that to a figure worked out OK. Rick Hunter's mullet though, not a good representation.

hot damn!!! That is the absolute hottest of the Sharon Apples I've yet to see

We need a Frakkin group buy! When this comes out. I didn't bite on the 1/48 AB, but always wanted one. The fact that it comes with a fan racer (altohough, not painted again) is kinda cool. FTR, a group buy is in need it seems.

Ahhh, still need to get those Bunny and white costume Sheryls, just don't have the money at this point. also, the prices are a bit too high at this point. If anyone knows where to get them at a decent price, or if anyone has extras, let me know.
-
I'll be going for sure, not sure if one or more days though.

You know, for the most part, you are correct. But I wouldn't say all Robotech fans are pathetic. Actually, most I know are good, decent guys, that don't isolate other fans because they have different opinions. We talk about a few fanatical crazy RT fans, and they think we are trying to trash talk all of them. Not true. What they need to realize is that it's just a couple of them, the more vocal ones that think they know what they're talking about, that we talk about. I'm sure, HP, that you've heard that they think you're not a fan of Robotech as well, otherwise, you wouldn't be doing the trash talking. That's what a couple think of me, but really, they'll say that in defense of the truths that are told here. To some, the "you're just saying that cause you wanna kill Robotech" defense helps them to invalidate whatever is said, and write off everything here. It's why I don't delve too deeply in the politics as heavily. What good is trying to convince crazy fanboys locked in their mom's basement of what is real? To be honest, those guys are the best comedy, as most of what they say is so far out there, you'd think they were trying to create a new soap opera. But yeah, HP, you are the devil in carnate, and you're not a real fan of Robotech, cause you want to kill it. The insanity!!!
