  1. Well, with Yeti gone indefinitely, I'm going to have to start using the default stands for Bandai valks and track down old Yamato stands (unless Arcadia reissues theirs). I guess that Walkure stand that comes with the 31AX will have to grow on me...
  2. I'll happily sell you my extra fan racer for 23000 yen plus 10% consumption tax.
  3. The teal Delta 06 is really Luca, who left SMS so he could fly with pilots closer to his skill level.
  4. I like that! Like how Han Solo was placed in a comfortable carbonite bed for his trip to Jabba's palace. Yeah the "ears" are warped on mine too. Took Bandai awhile to figure out how to mold straight surfaces, it seems. Ozma is my favorite 29 variant, following by Isamu. But after the huge hassle of detailing Alto's YF-29, I don't want to deal with any 29s again. So, the VF-171 has got to be the cursed child of the VF toy line. Bandai got her started off on the wrong foot with the wonky leg design and stupid removable wings. Then the exploding shoulder triangle thing happened. Now after sitting on its Yeti stand unveventfully for years, the adapter snapped in half one day out of the blue and she took a tumble, scraping a bunch of paint off her feet. So back she goes into her box until I can fix her, someday.
  5. Don't really care enough to sift through books and old lineart and manuals or breaking out my calipers to check. It's little more than a curiosity for me, not a complaint, despite the moaning by some members. Nothing shows how little you care about something like bragging about how much you don't care about something. (Not directed at you personally, btw)
  6. It'll be awhile before I get my copies, so I'm just speculating. But it looks like the DX version is the same size as the Yamato. Between getting their scales right, I'll put my money on Yamato over Bandai. Having scales out of whack is the norm for Bandai stuff, so it's not a a dealbreaker for me (I did buy 2x 1Ds after all). The DX 1/48 line is more of a sideshow for me, since I already have a massive Yamato collection for having everything in scale. I doubt we'll ever see 1/48 versions of the YF-19 or VF-25 as they would be huge and expensive... but damn I'd love it if they did materialize someday!
  7. A picture of my Rod before he goes back into his styrofoam prison.
  8. If it's scaled to the undersized DX pilots, then yes it will be wrong.
  9. Here's the DX with the 1/60 Yamato fan racer, if anyone cares to make comparison measurements.
  10. Wow so your neighbor got their 1D before you?
  11. Love all the 1D pictures! Everyone post more! No idea when my pair will get here. Is that a giant H on the fan racer stabilizer? Is Hikaru that much of an egomaniac or does it stand for hentai?
  12. I knew a man of your refined tastes would like them. Thanks! LOL maybe one of these days I'll do that with my spare YF-30. Mine too. A shame it was a one-off and Bandai never bothered to milk the mold with other variants. I guess the Rod 29 sales were underwhelming and Bandai just abandoned further Macross 30 projects.
  13. Since I'm moving in the fall, I'm going to start slowly packing up my valkyrie collection over the next couple of months in preparation for the move instead of trying to box them all up at one time. I'll photograph some as I go along. Guess I'll start with the YF-30 since it's a favorite of mine and it's been on my mind with all the recent tomato soup talk.
  14. Probably. Also noticed the shipping costs on everything went up at AJ. Hope it's just because of the Olympics and isn't a permanent increase.
  15. Seconded because scarred mercat was the only interesting character on the show.
  16. Absolutely not. First blood! 1D already in the 30k club. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1171318927&keyword=マクロス
  17. Well, at least that's one less set of landing gear to paint...
  18. I'll just have it shipped EMS or DHL or whatever express shipping method that can get it here safely. I'd prefer to just pick it up myself, but who knows how long before international travel is back to semi-normal. Black landing gears are not tolerated in my collection. Where's the retractable ladder and VT-102 tampo by the cockpit? Bandai as sloppy as ever!
  19. Buddy in Japan got them. Just waiting for them to ship my way now.
  20. Prices on Kakizaki hovered around the 20000-22000 range on Mandarake for quite a long time after release, though they were often snapped up pretty quickly and I rarely caught one with the "Add to Cart" button available. It's only recently joined the 30k club. I chalk it up to being Kakizaki for the relatively slow price climb. It is, but it shouldn't be that way. It's artificial scarcity created by Bandai. I wish Macross was more popular and/or Big West would allow more companies to produce quality Macross toys, but alas we're stuck with Bandai making us beg like circus seals for every fish valkyrie. This whole situation reminds me of an old PA comic and we're the unfortunate fans. https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/05/27
  21. Sweet collection but seeing valkyries in direct sunlight still makes me

  23. That goes without saying. Aside from the anniversary editions, I think the only valkyrie release I've skipped is the upcoming 31J reissue. I'm okay with cash grabs, but that one is just too lazy even for me. I've always found the 29 livery rather unusual myself, what with the tiger stripes and oblong color patch running down the middle. I think we're long past the time of glossy valkyries, and thank goodness for that!
