Nah, it's a pic from awhile back. Found it in a random shop while browsing in Tokyo. It'd be nice if they reissued it under a different modex number too. I've packed up a number of my valks now and I must say I absolutely hate Bandai's cheap ass styrofoam and plastic wrap packaging. Took them too damn long to adopt plastic trays like Yamato was using since forever.

You have to open up the underside of the forward fuselage where there are 4 screws. You have to remove those screws to detach the entire crotch/hip section from the nose area. Once detached, you can just pop the crotch plate off and remove those screws and then you can access that part. I'm writing this from memory so I don't remember if there was a metal pin or anything like that holding it in place on the inside. You're talking about this part, right??

This is correct. Every time I am in Japan I end up shipping one or more boxes back home to myself of stuff I've found in various shops. Not that I regret any of those purchases, and @Chronocidal is correct in his assessment of its value. I've found quite a lot of great stuff this way, and I got to visit Japan. (Mandarake doesn't web list everything they have for sale, for instance...)

Thanks! I'll try that fix. I've repaired a few adapters over the years as well. I was actually thinking of all the new valks coming down the pipeline that I will have no Yeti stands for.
