I doubt it's the first DX for the majority of people who are willing to drop the kind of money on this thing. Why would you assume they had no idea what they were getting into? The perceived difficulty of the transformation will vary from person to person, but when they all say it, there's probably something to it. "Best left in one mode" does not scream "easy to play with and transform." Super floppy and ridiculously tight parts are par for the course for Bandai DX, but that doesn't mean we should give Bandai a pass. Let's not normalize poor QC, shall we? I'm not taking a hair dryer to my plastic toys. Getting a broken head laser out of the box is 100% unacceptable. "It's not a toy you should play with casually" is just a ridiculous statement. While I do keep a screwdriver handy when I'm messing with my valks, I need to emphasize that I'm a weirdo and that that is not normal and should not be a requirement for playing with these toys.

Out of the nearly hundred valkyrie toys I have, the VF-19 Advance is the only one that's made me want to hurl it into a wall. Good grief, those heel blocks really look awful next to the Advance heels. They have two physical stores in Akihabara that I know of. Broken head laser isn't a QC issue. It's the result of poor packaging and some rough handling. Bandai packs everything so tightly there's no room for anything. This isn't the first DX to have this problem.

Who actually buys the anniversary schemes? I'm sure some do, but is that number really enough to make a production run profitable?

Yeah, the 31s were designed from the get-go to be screwed up, with the ugly frosted canopies and pilots mashed up against the front console. Not to mention inexplicable patches of glossiness on the flat finish, and paint chips galore out of the box. So yeah, to me Bandai's design and QC are no better than Arcadia, which I find pathetic given how vast Bandai is and Arcadia is only just above "garage kit maker."

A card with no foreign transaction fees is a must for this hobby. Paid for mine on HS. Hopefully they ship out soon.

It looks fantastic! Can't wait to get my hands on it. Won't be using that gigantic antenna though. This isn't 1982.

Yeah direct from Amazon. It was 27000 but that includes tax. Outside of Japan you don't pay tax so it was 25000. Then only 1200 for what is basically EMS shipping. So 26200 total and you get it in a few days.

Looks great! Glad I preordered three. Really went overboard on the tampo. Not sure if too much or too little is preferable though. Is it time for that gif yet?

The 30th anniversary figure of Ranka in Minmay's dress is nice too. The others are meh.

It's not marked up. Amiami simply removed their usual preorder discount. I suppose that can be seen as a markup, depending on your perspective.
