  1. Not necessarily. I eluded to this in my original post. There is a massive difference between “To Expensive” and “Expensive”. “Expensive” is by all means something that is in the wallet of the beholder (nice way of putting that by the way). “To Expensive” is defined by the market. Not one person. I don’t know why this is such a pet peeve of mine, maybe it’s because I have been in retail for most of my working life in one form or another and I have owned a few businesses. But it drives me absolutely insane when people refer to things as “To Expensive”. Something being “To Expensive” is not up to the individual person. They don’t have the right to make that statement. I actually find it very self centered and arrogant. Where does such a person get off thinking that their single opinion trumps the opinion of the entire market for that item?
  2. Are you saying there may be less time between when we saw the first pics and when it’s released because the G man got the scans to us earlier on the 21? That would be good news I suppose. I just went back and checked. It looks like we got scans of the 21 that look like the ones of the 11 in this thread on November 22nd 2007. Now if that is more representative of the current gestation period then it will be about 6 months before the 11 hits the streets.
  3. I am assuming by “this category” you mean do I think that the current pricing on the Weathered Roy and Max is too high? Apparently the pricing on the Roy is not too high because they are all selling for what people are asking for them. I did just recently see someone post one up on feeBay for $500 BIN and it didn’t sell though. I offered them $400 and they wouldn’t take it. So right at this exact moment, because that one Roy didn’t get snatched up on feeBay you could say that one was “Too Expensive”. But only a fool allows the one exception to disprove the rule. If you were to ask me if I thought that they were “expensive” I would say yes. Even at $300 they are “expensive”. But “expensive” and “To Expensive” have two completely different meanings. I have no idea how to classify the Max because I have not seen any pricing on them and none have shown up on the auction market from what I have seen. It’s probably fair to say that when they first get released they will be $400-500 and over time they will drop down to the level of a Low Vis 1. They will probably go for less money faster than the Roy too, I think I read there will be more of them. If there are not a lot more of them they will probably follow the same trend as the Roy has. You can be sure that a lot of people saw dollar signs in their eyes for the Max release though. I am sure there will be a lot of them available in the secondary market right away. And they will probably be asking a lot of money for them. But as long as people are buying them they are worth exactly what they sold for. I personally am hoping that the crappy economy forces some Roy’s and some Max’s up for sale in a year or two and maybe I can pick them up for $300-400. I would pay $400 for a Roy but I doubt I would go over $300 for a Max. And I did not set those two price points based on them being “To Expensive”. It’s simply more than I am willing to spend on them. And if someone is willing to pay more then me, than what I am willing to pay is irrelevant because I am not a factor. If you spend your entire life being mad at things you can’t afford or people who can you are going to have a pretty crappy life. You will always aspire to want more than you do and there will always be a lot of people with way more money than we have………combined. I have some friends that have $1M cars and $20M houses. Am I jelious? Hell yes. Do I wish I had all that stuff and money? Hell yes. Does any of it make me upset for one second? No, because that would be stupid.
  4. Well I answered my own question, thought some of you would like to know though. We saw the first scans of the YF-21 on July 24th 2007 We started to receive them May 29th 2008. Looks like a 10 month gestation period before we can get our hands on a VF-11 if the 21’s timeline is similar. Anyone have more optimistic news than that?
  5. Economics 101. Supply and Demand. Supply and Demand Theory Because you can’t afford something doesn’t make it “Too expensive”. If it cost more than what it was worth then it would be too expensive. And obviously it doesn’t cost more than it’s worth. If that was true everyone on this board wouldn’t be buying them. Something is worth as much as someone will pay for it. Don’t “cheapen” the product because you can’t afford to buy one. Is a Ferrari Enzo “Too expensive”? It’s more than I can afford, but I would never call it too expensive. And they are clearly not too expensive because every one they have ever made sold instantly.
  6. How much time passed between when the YF-21 pics were first released and the toy was released? I’m guessing that would be a good way of estimating when we could expect these to ship. And I will most certainly be getting one of these. The 19 and the 11 are my favorite. I’m in heaven
  7. I’m a little confused. I got what I thought was a 1/15 CM Yellow VR-41 but it doesn’t say CM anywhere on the box. It says Toynami and Harmony Gold. From what I can see of it the box is identical to the one in jenius’s review though. So what’s the scoop? Is the CM the Toynami one? Is it just a packaging difference? Thanks
  8. Yeah, no kidding. It's about time to get some spy shots I would think. The 21 has been out for a while now and the V.2 VF-1's have been around and not much of a stretch for them from a design standpoint. I want a 1/60 VF-11 bad! Come on Yamato tease me a little
  9. I think the OD looks the best. I still doubt I will buy one though.
  10. They should be at least as big as a 1/48 VF-1. AT LEAST! 18-25" would be perfect though
  11. I have done pretty well. A majority are too loose for my tastes though. Not the end of the world but that does seem to be the one common theme with the Yamato stuff. I don’t play with mine at all though. They get unboxed and displayed. If they get transformed it’s once. I have only ever had one issue that was bad enough for me to get rid of it and that was the VF-0A Shin. It was so sloppy loose I just couldn’t deal with it. I sold it. It is also consequently the only Mac Zero release I don’t have. I would like to get one but I don’t know if the ever tightened them up though.
  12. I don’t usually comment on price. But $100 for one of these is ridiculous. Yes they are cool because they were in the show/movie but they don’t have anything near the artistic quality that the VF/YF/SV series does. I certainly wouldn’t be buying one so I could stare at it all day saying to myself “That’s beautiful”, which I do a lot of with my VF/YF/SV stuff. To me they are not worth more than $50 max. I don’t base that on perceived production costs, detail, etc. I base it purely on desire. I don’t desire one of those enough to pay more than $50 for it. I would much rather spend a couple more $$ and get another 1/60 v.2.
  13. Why in gods name would they make the FP's limited? That's got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
  14. Never seen their site before. Lots of stuff. Doesn't matter though. I am 100% wait and see on the VF-25. No pre orders for me.

Once you get the Nora in your hands and then display it with the others the color is great. I love my Nora, it really draws your eye to it when sitting on a shelf full of Valks. I'm pretty sure all the QC issues were taken care of on her too.

    Latest custom.

I can't imagine even being able to do that.
  17. HLJ has them up for $124 then shipping. Maybe $175 is a little high but shipping has got to be about $35-40 I would think/ HLJ Link
  18. I like the 1/48 a bit more. It's not like I think the 1/60 v.2 is horrible, bad, unattractive, etc. The biggest difference between the two for me is that the 1/48 is just plain bigger. I like the bigger toy. Can’t explain why, I just do. Secondly I like that the 1/48’s are chunkier than the 1/60. I know that’s not line art accurate but it doesn’t matter to me. Sitting here in real life right in front of me the chunky look of the 1/48 looks great to me. I also have clown hands (I think that is the term for them) for all of my 1/48’s too so I don’t have that detracting from their overall look. I do like the 1/60 v.2 a lot though. They are very nice. You can tell they have been updated and it certainly doesn’t break my heart that they cost less than the 1/48’s. At this point I have all of the 1/48’s except the credit card Valk and the limited weathered jobbies. If I had the chance, and for a fair price I would pick them up though to finish off the line of 1/48’s. The only 1/60’s I will be buying are the ones that were not offered in the 1/48 scale. I’m certainly not going to become a 1/60 completest, but I will be happy to try and be a completest across the two scales. For example I just got the 1/60 v.2 VF-1A with S&S Higgy. I will definitely be getting all of the two seaters also. I can’t think of any more variants that will be coming out in 1/60 that were not available in 1/48 though. Are there?
  19. Mine is PERFECT! It's still in the box though.
  20. So I have been reading the VF-25 thread for…..ever. And there certainly is a ton of controversy about the looks of the 1/60 toy. I have never seen the show so to me it’s not horrible. In a vacuum (pardon the pun) it’s a cool lookin Mech. But just like there being a part of me that is a completest which drives me to get more 1/48’s than I really want, I do have a part of me that would like to have an accurate VF-25. Who wouldn’t want an accurate one over a non accurate one even if you didn’t know the difference? And that aside, from what I can see the 1/60 does have some pretty sloppy gaps, etc. Word on the street is that the 1/72 models are very accurate and the few pictures I have seen look great to me. Trouble is that I am in no way a model builder. It’s odd because I have incredible fabrication skills, but generally I am working in metal and on a much bigger scale (1:1 for example). So what position does that leave a guy like me in? I can shell out $175+ for a 1/60. I can skip getting one all together. I can pay someone to build a model for me and paint it. At some point I guess I am going to need to make a decision. Problem is I am missing part of the equation. That part is how much would it cost me to get a model professionally built? Any of you out there in model land interested in the job? If so can you fire me off an estimate? I understand if you want to PM it and I promise I won’t make it public knowledge. I am not at all certain which way I want to go with this but I will certainly never know until I know what getting a model built is going to cost me. If one of you kick @$$ model builders (which from my point of view is just about all of you) can fire me off an estimate that would be great. Even if you don’t want to do the job you could still give me a number to work with. Thanks
