  1. So this is a sequal instead of a re-make?
  2. Yeah I can beat most but there's one that looks like it has chains attached to it's feet and literally a house on it's back, that one kicked my butt. I'm thinking there's adolescents, females, and male versions of these things. I'm also wondering just how high your HP can go, the really big version one shot killed me by dealing over 10,000 points of damage so I wonder if your HP can get past the usual 9999 limit.
  3. Ordered a VF-1J with Super Packs from HLJ when they had their sale so $65+s/h is pretty good price. I think I'm gonna be extra choosey when it comes to the Valks I buy you can easily get drowned in all the releases and honestly my first love is the SOC so it get's priority, besides IMHO there are only four iconic Valks in the original Macross series and I haven't decided to get the other two yet since I want the DX VF-25 Tornado because it's just a wicked looking piece in fighter mode.
  4. Here's a link with some more pics. http://toyboxdx.com/phorum/read.php?1,181837,page=40
  5. Nice I didn't know that, now I wonder what I should do if I should get rid of my two lv.10 Warrior Bracelets and have all three Nimbletoe boots.
  6. Yeah I was just gonna reply but yeah you buy them at the Moogle store for 1,000 then upgrade them and transform them. But once there Aurora Scarfs just leave them alone cuz if you transform them again they turn into something completely else. I think a Speedsash or something, but anyways you lose the pre-charged ATB skill. On a side note I'm still on Chapter 11 and right now I'm trying to finish off the Titan quests so far it's been pretty easy with a few C'ieth missions being tough. I also finally got the courage to fight one of those giant buildings with legs Armosomething, it was A LOT easier than I thought. Using the team I like with Fang casting debilitating spells on it and Sazh casting En weapon upgrades I was dishing out 30,000-45,000 points of damage per blow and in the end you only get 4500CP still at least now I can safely fight everything in Gran Pulse and not be afraid, it's hunt'n season boys lol.
  7. A little OT but here's a link to a Voltron game for iphone users. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/voltron/id339883173?mt=8
  8. Because it doesn't matter obviously Bandai has a larger portfolio. The point is and I'm guessing but I'll bet a $100, is that the design team that first worked on the original 1/60 is the same team that worked on the 1/48 and are probably the same team that's working on the 1/60 Ver.2. It just makes design sense, the first 1/60's you actually had to remove the legs, the design team then goes to a larger scale to try out new ideas and techniques, after being sufficiently happy with what they learned they go to a smaller size for shipping and manufactoring while honing what they learned from the 1/48's. While the DX team is comparably new, sure they'll have engineers who moved over from other divisions and have new hired engineers. But from a engineering team their quite new and are probably bringing ideas and habbits of how they did things from their former divisions. You can tell just by the armor packs that it has a very "Gundam" way of being attached which is basically "two tabs and a prayer". Here's another example, take say GM each division is broken up with different engineers and designers while high profile cars like Corvettes have a dedicated engineering team that works on nothing but Corvettes. So the Corvette guy isn't going to work on the new Chevy Aveo while the Cadillac team won't have any say in the Buick teams design direction. GM has been building cars for over a 100 years but I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying they still haven't built the perfect car.
  9. Wow okay where to start, first off I want to say I'm not being derogatory or whatever and that I'm actually enjoying this debate but anyways I never said Yamato has more experience in manufacturing and design over Bandai period. I said Yamato has more experience in manufacturing transforming Macross Mecha IF you take into account the number of released items. I don't see what the problem is, if you just take into account the 1/60 Ver.2 VF-1's by themselves your easily in the double digits and that's not counting with or without Fast/Strike Packs. If you add the various VF-0, YF-21,YE-19,YF-11, YF-22 and so one your easily adding another 14-15 different models and that's still not counting Weathering, Anniversary editions let alone 1/60 Ver.1, 1/48's, or the 1/72's and on. It's just a fact that Yamato has produced more variations of the VF-1 than Bandai and have produced more Macross Mecha than any company period. You can also count non-transforming Macross items from both companies Yamato has I believe close too 10 figures in it's non-transforming all plastic figure line and that's not including the 8-9 variations of the 1/60 Destroids. You can also add re-issues which Bandai has done and Yamato will be doing with the re-issued 1/48's and still Bandai has produced less product. Now to clear up some misconceptions which I read a lot off, people have a tendency to say Bandai should know better or Yamato has been doing this for so many years and still makes the same mistakes or what not. The truth is Bandai, Yamato, or whatever has design teams or departments and that it's just not one group of engineers working on every product their company produces. So for example the Gundam team wouldn't necessarily work on a Macross product let alone a Pokemon one and although Bandai or Takara has been producing transforming toys for decades the engineers have not for the most part. Of course they do ask for advice from various engineering groups and probably have access to past designs but for the most part their self contained groups and in extreme cases such as the initial Soul of Chogokin figures made, it was just ONE engineer/designer who did all the work. Obviously a smaller company like Yamato the engineers would be in charge of more different lines than the say the ones at Bandai, that doesn't excuse them from designing bad products or from not learning from other lines though. As for the constant updates I mentioned I should have been more precise, so that's my bad. I should have said constant updates are added when they are with-in costs. The extreme being a complete re-design to something simple as better paint aps. For example the Alto VF-25 is now I believe on it's third iteration with cosmetic improvements that most fans would agree upon. True there not the most necessary improvements but they are improvements, same with the old 1/48's and I believe the nosecone. Nothing major but small improvements that would not cost a fortune to the company and most of the time it's cosmetic. But when your on your 3rd or 4th release of basically the same design and the toy comes out sloppy that sounds like mold degradation at which point you either make new ones $$$, try and fix the current ones, or just keep going with the decision being how much money the company wants to spend. Now this is where I feel bad for Yamato, Yamato makes beautiful Valks and I'm sure Yamato knew about the cracked shoulders very early and I'm sure Graham can verify this, tried to make changes that would not make that happen with-out a complete re-design of the shoulder hinges either through assembly or whatever. Macross is probably Yamato's largest profit earner so any kind of major disaster like a complete re-design of the shoulders would be a major blow to the company. If there like most companies they not only have to produce enough product to supply demand they have to keep enough in stock to meet future demand. So if they re-design the shoulder what happens to the old stock? What about all the product they sold? Unlike Bandai they don't have a lot of other profitable lines that could float the this one just in-case of a major re-design/disaster. As for the whole DX vs 1/60 debate all I'll say is one company is a toy company while another one is a collectible one so the products will reflect these policies. In my opinion the DX should have had better details like the Yamato's while the 1/60's should be a little more toy like in the sturdiness department IMHO.
  10. Uh yeah since I have been collecting since the late 70's early 80's. As too the whole idea that once a toy is designed that it's set in stone is pretty much nonesense. There are constant revisions being made each figure be it a re-color or whatever has it's own dedicated production run with small changes being made from small details like paint aps to the kind of rubber used for tires it just takes time, these things have huge production runs and stopping a line to make a change is like watching a train stop. It's not like they dump a bunch of plastic in a giant machine and push "VF-1J Max color" button and out it comes nor do they produce the whole line at once. Every company has engineers and QC people checking out the product for improvements. I'm working in the manufactoring buseness now and I am constantly updating our products with new improvements big and small and even on items that my company has built for 20 years unchanged. So every version counts becouse every version is different, there's a lot more too it than just the color of plastic used for a different Valk.
  11. Okay nice spin but if you count the whole 1/48 line as just one release then maybe, but please you know what I mean with-in each line there have been how many variations. Like I said twice before if you count the total of each individual release Yamato has by far released more stuff. By your counting then Hasbro just released one 3 3/4 G.I Joe figure.
  12. I should also mention that each of my characters have upgraded Aurora Scarfs (name?) which starts out each fight with a full ATB charge so no waiting to getting that first strike in. If I know I'm in for a hard fight I will instantly start off with Med/Sab/Syn to get a jump on Haste, Elemental properties to weapons (either Bar or En can't remember), with Fang casting debilitating spells on your foe. Also Light and Fang have the highest strength with Sazh a close fourth and full skills in both Commando and Ravage which more than makes up for the healing ability I lose for not using Van or Hope.
  13. That's where the Haste spells come in, I use Fang as a Sentinal to keep the enemy busy while Sazh casts Haste and whatever spells on the group while Light heals, with five ATB slots it doesn't take long to heal the whole group, your basically getting twice the turns you normally have plus if I want I could also mix a Esuna (sp?) or Raise with a couple Cures if I wanted too. For the most part I use Light as the leader and she knows enough Medic skills that can get by most of the time, with Van or Hope you really don't have any control over them and when I want a ko'ed character raised to use their skill, most of the time they'll cure first then get to that after this way I have control over who I heal and when.
  14. Actually Bandai took over production from a pre-existing toy in the 80's the 1/55's. They did create 1/72 scale Valkyrie for the HCM series and the VF-17/19 but if you look at actual released items per company Yamato has a longer history making Valks with far more released items.
  15. It's funny cuz my favorite team right now is Light/Fang/Sazh, having Light as a Medic, Fang as a Sentinal and Sazh as a Synergist has saved my bacon quite a few times. Not only does he cast Haste but if possible cast elemental properties on the weapons which just decimates most enemies plus he's not to far behind Light, Fang, Snow in strength too. I've got those three in the 1800-1400 range while he's been upgraded to around 1100 plus I've taught him some Medic skills so he can also heal too.
  16. Oh I agree that these things should be perfect no matter who makes them but if you look at the history of making transforming toys from Macross from both companies, one company had been at it way longer than another one. Sure Bandai is a huge company and has extensive knowledge in building transforming toys but making transforming Macross mecha is a relative new adventure for them. It doesn't matter how much R&D you put into a product the real test is when it reaches production and is in the hands of fans that you can actually gauge what you did right and what you did wrong and improve on it, which Bandai obviously did with the VF-27. I'm not a diehard Bandai fan and I do think the Yamato products are beautiful but if you took the total of every single Macross item released from each company and factor in the faults Bandai really isn't doing that bad.
  17. I just blame the upside down logo as just a new product mistake, we all know that Bandai can make high quality products with the Soul of Chogokin line possibly being the highest quality mainstream toyline out there. With that said I would probably be annoyed too if my toy came with a screwed up logo but after awhile I would just display that side to a wall lol. Besides I'd rather have a "SWS' instead of a "SMS" than a busted arm or cracked hinges, ones just a cosmetic mistake while the other one is a structural one.
  18. Yeah that giant Cactus fight is like mission 54 and once I saw the silhouette of him I turned down that mission pretty fast he would destroy me now. I should say I'm still on Chapter 11 and asking if anyone knows what item I need to transform Sahz's Procyon's ? I know for the second transformation I'm guessing you need that item that costs 2,000,000 but this is just his first upgrade for that weapon and I've tried everything up to Adamintine(sp?) since I can't afford anything else.
  19. Man that VF-25 with the Tornado pack looks sweet, I might just have to buy it. I could care less if it's fidgety since like most of my collection it will be a shelf piece and will be displayed in fighter mode as for Gerwalk mode only the VF-1's look any good in that mode IMHO and even then it's a pretty silly concept.
  20. I'd did the complete opposite I grinded for a bit uses that trick (maybe a total of 4 hours) I found and that gave me a real jump in power that pretty much everything I fought was easy and if you wanted, fight everything you see without have to worry about running around them. I breezed through that fight with the big machine and the Fal'cie at the top of the tower was a joke I beat that in two turns. I've upgraded most of my weapons to the second or third stage but just need to get the money and figure out what transformation item I need to transform them. I've also been doing all the Ci'eth missions, I've done the first 28 and will probably go back to the caves to finish off mission 29. It just depends what your into and how you like to play games, anyways here's a little hint there's a little side mission in finish it and you'll get a nice boost in cash.
  21. Thanks a lot! Man I feel stupid, I hardly ever use the map feature since this game is so linear with little exploration possible.
  22. Kay I'm stumped I'm still on the second C'ith mission where it asks you to find a Urusomething with some Gargowhatsit, first off what the hell is a Urusomething and just where is it??? I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off looking for it lol.
  23. Here's a link to that tip for farming CP in chapter 11. Just to add a few points, I started with around 2000 hit points on average per character so I wasn't that powerful at all so it is doable. Anyways I used Lightening, Fang, and Snow and just switched between all Commandos and all Ravagers. Also another tip, be fast if the Behemoth starts glowing blue it's beginning to transform and for me I have yet to beat it in it's transformed state, it literally was one-hit killing me. Also you don't have to wait for them to regenerate, just run up to around the save point there and they'll re-appear. Just one more thing, I found once I got up to level 4 in Commandos and Ravagers the Behemoth would start to transform a lot sooner so I'm guessing that while you level up so does the difficulty level so I would suggest gaining about 200,000cp before you use it just so you have enough to upgrade quite a bit. http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2010/03/0...farming-tip.htm
  24. Whoa hit the Gran Pulse wilds and promptly got my butt kicked in the second C'ith stone mission. Thankfully I found a tip where you can fight two monsters which are fairly easy to beat for 6600cp each fight and constantly regenerate, in roughly half an hour I had just over 100,000cp to upgrade my characters. I'm at work now but I'll post the link to the site when I get home if anyone wants it.
  25. On Chapter 10 and I upgraded my Gladius to Helter Skelter, looks all right I guess a blue blade with gold accents. Still I miss the ridiculously large weapons that would be too heavy to wield for anyone besides Superman from past FF's, next up is Fang and the red double bladed staff (forgot name) to get transformed.
