  1. Yeah, I noticed those a couple months ago and had a facepalm moment about it. There's a whole bunch of other ones on that page too including, among other things, dinosaur (and related) names like pterosauria, sauropod, and parasauro(lophus). Also "Get Sport" and the font name "Helvetica".
  2. Thanks for the pictures, Starscream, they do help. I just haven't gotten around to the VF-27 yet since I'm not big on the design, lol!
  3. Tweaked the canopy on the second generation VF-19, in this case on a VF-19E. I originally had it with a normal VF-19A forward canopy, with the aft part modified, but here it's all different.
  4. Maybe it would have been better if they kept the black/white markings in the normal DYRL-type stripe pattern that Alto, Ozma, etc, had on their VF-25s.
  5. Yeah, totally. That one was awesome, even if the scheme is a little too-much Blue Angels now and not classic Emerald Force...
  6. I'm having problems getting your second link to open, but I presume you mean this book. http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB-VF-1%E3%83%90%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AD%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC-GA-Graphic%E7%B7%A8%E9%9B%86%E9%83%A8/dp/4797351829/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1304751847&sr=8-4 They are vol 1 and 2 relating to the VF-1. The first deals with the earlier career of the VF-1, atmospheric use, development, and the base models (VF-1A/D/J/S, etc). Vol 2 (Space Wing) deals with the VF-1s that came later (VF-1X/P) as well as Armored packs, FAST packs, and general space useage as well as the twilight years of the VF-1.
  7. Yeah, definitely. Though I do imagine that Earth and Special Forces are using VF-24As instead. Perhaps long-nose ones with ISC installed in the same manner of the VF-25. I might have to get drawing on that one....
  8. Unfortunately, those are just Modex numbers (201, etc), which are something Macross took from real-world US Navy planes. They are assigned based on the squadron and the plane's number in the squadron. For instance, a hypothetical squadron on Battle 7 will have the 1xx series, with 101 being the CO, 100 being the CAG's, and going on from there 101-112 for an example twelve-plane squadron. The second squadron would have 2xx numbers. They don't have any connection with the production numbers since they can be changed easily, especially if any specific airframe changes squadrons. The weird thing about SDF:M to me has always been Roy's reversed CAG plane number (assuming Skull to be the 1xx modex, since a CAG can have a plane in any of the squadrons, always with an x00), 001 instead of 100.
  9. Since I got my copy of VF-25 Master File today, I thought I would work on the newer Valks some. I'm going to detail the YF-24 like MF's (as well as do a long-nose production VF-24A with ISC), add in some MF details to my VF-25S I still need to finish, and add the YF-29 Durandal from the latest Macross Frontier movie, Wings of Goodbye. To get a start, I worked up a boilerplate YF-29 and inserted it into my (slightly-rearranged) VF size chart, along with a tweak in the YF-24's size. I was .2 meters longer then what Master File gave it's length as.
  10. Just got my copy and I'll post some more extensive thoughts once my jaw gets picked off the floor. Much better then I expected the book to be. They've really outdone themselves on this one.
  11. No, it's an in-universe example of the 5000th VF-1 built. Aircraft manufacturers do that for milestone production examples sometimes, such as this 5 Grand, the 5000th B-17 built. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8DAL7gPYBiM/TBZOKYg9UBI/AAAAAAAAAYs/VOYBK944tnw/s1600/5Grand.jpg It was signed by the factory workers.
  12. Yes, I think I'm getting that impression as well.
  13. Those are from Space Wing, Master File VF-1 vol. 2, not from vol. 1. That book is still in print as well.
  14. I'm looking forward to mine too! It's more like insane stuff, but I'll fill you in later. That particular one sketchley mentions is a VF-25 with biplane wings and two engines with props added to the regular plane. Then there's maclone Klan riding a VF-1 that makes the Stampede Valk look sane. 17 UMM missile pods strapped together in three rows between two VF-22/YF-21 engine assemblies and wings, with four VF-11B FAST pack boosters mounted on the wings...
  15. To me, they went the simple route and just stuck two camera setups together with one feeding each of the pilots. Since in battroid mode the backseater is sitting on top of the pilot, it would serve to give a more accurate picture, I suppose. One of the sketch heads they had for the Macross the First redesign was a VF-1A head with the laser replaced with a second camera in a "mohawk"-type setup. I've already used it on the VT-1C I drew and I'll likely use it on the VEFR-1 as well, whenever I get around to drawing it. I stuck a DYRL cockpit interior in the VF-1D for now until I get a TV one done up. I'm using the excuse of "Well, there probably were upgrades!" for it.
  16. Ah, that's rather interesting. I didn't realize it was that consistent along all interpretations of the plane. Speaking of optics, the Macross the First VF-1D had an interesting one. One pilot's optics (lower, if I recall, corresponding to the pilot) has a single large lens, while the upper one (presumably for the WSO/RIO/backseater) has binocular smaller ones. That's one head I'm hoping you'll end up doing. I like it a lot more then the regular VF-1D one. This of course presumes you're going to do the two-seaters one day.
  17. That head looks awesome! It appears like there's a lens behind a retractable cover, down in the corner if I'm looking at this right. I can't wait to see more, this is going to be the best VF-1 CG model ever.
  18. I'm still sorry about that, it was mostly a misunderstanding (especially on my part). Anyway, ah, I see. Hmm, drat, I was hoping we'd get to see more of the camel YF-24 with the hump. Oh well. Thanks, Gubaba!
  19. I forgot to mention it in my post above, but my question was aimed at you, Gubaba. The mobile version of the site didn't have a quote button and I was typing from my phone.
  20. Any YF-24 stuff? Specifically schematics. I'm not getting my copy for a couple weeks.
  21. Shahar as in the Ugarit god? Interesting to note that the YF-27-5 was designed by General Galaxy's "Guld Works", according to sketchley's translation.
  22. You'll see that the line art for this model (the top and side views) match what we're seeing in the picture. The VF-11 isn't exactly a set shape. It looks different between the TIA Special Macross Plus schematics, the Kawamori line art, the footage from Macross Plus, the footage from Macross 7, etc. This is just another interpretation rather then "wrong". I generally prefer something closer to the TIA drawings myself, but this should be a good kit. I like the additional details on the nose, as well as the refined shape of the antennas behind the canopy. The tail is closer to the animation, though a tad small. Good additional detail though.
  23. Thanks for the scans, Graham, I've been looking forward to them and they don't disappoint! The splitting of the race into various classes like "Ostrich", "Ultimate", and "Thunderbolt" is interesting.
