  1. Happy Bday! And you're one lucky macross fan!!! XD
  2. As promised... A second canopy was made and I'll have to re-plot the windows. I had to scrap the first canopy because I decided to get creative one night. XD The visors for the VF-22s were not set and were held down by tape (and my fingers) to the faceplate. I'm debating if the visors should be recast in clear parts. The bay doors are being made in steps/layers as shown. Yes its seems to be that I will be using magnets for attaching the bay doors and faceplate. ***EDIT*** None of these pics are final. A lot more puttying and sanding to go!
  3. Alright... I know I've neglected this project a bit, so I'll have some progress pics up later tonight. MAx
  4. I've worked on YF-19 and YF-21 SHE kits. Tips: Get the correct drill bits for the screws. I believe they're specified in the kit's manual. You'll need a right angled ruler (Kotobukiya produces a small set). The right angled ruler can help you determine perpendicular drilling locations for the kit. Pilot the drill locations using a smaller drill bit. If your drill requirement is 0.4mm go with a 0.2mm drill bit and then work your way up, so this way if there is a mistake it won't be as big. And if you really mess up... use some epoxy or strong putty (that can be drilled) which is about the same consistency or hardness of the resin. You can just patch up the mis-angled drill job, remeasure and re-drill again. Hope this helps, Max
  5. Alright... here is the current progress of my work atm. I realized it's pretty tough to keep up with my planned schedule with a FT work schedule and girl friend. LOL I still have quite alot of work to do for the canopy and the face plate (puttying the face, sanding and trimming, form a new canopy dome, etc...). I already know what I will be doing for the bay doors and I'm hoping to start them this coming weekend. I think I've decided to not make the VF-1 Riders VF-22 faceplate because it's not even anime nor line accurate (it's the one on the left edge of two of the photos). VF-1 Riders faceplate IMO just won't look right when painted as the colors of the anime. I guess I could depending on the fandom demand. XD Max ***EDIT*** I apologize for the horrible lighting in the pics. -=X The masking tape on the face is temporary just so I can get an idea of where to place the visor.
  6. @ruskii... Yea, attaching the VF-22S' faceplate to the existing YF-21's face was my original plan (read my starting post) because there would be no way to actually make the VF-22S' faceplate clear the bottom stem of the antenna inside the cowl. When transforming the 21/22 back to gerwalk/fighter one would have to remove the VF-22S' faceplate or it would get damaged. Instead of snapping/clipping on the faceplate I may end up using magnets for the faceplates if i feel the ones from eugimon's reference site would suit the situation (are strong enough -=X). I guess I'll be incorporating the slots so the VF-22S' bays can hold the gunpods. XD Around sometime this weekend I'll have prototype pics of maybe two different faceplates and the modified canopy. The reason for the two faceplates are due to the anime accurate one and the other is based off the VF-1 Riders 1/72 Hasegawa Battroid conversion kit. I kind of like them both for some reason. I'll make them both and post them up, so I can get some feedback. Max
  7. Okay to clarify about the bay doors. These will most likely be either snap on or magnet assisted panels in which the existing fast pack bay doors for the 21 will not attach to. The 22 bay doors will be replacing the 21 fast pack bay doors. Its up to you guys if you want to add on the fast packs for the rear tail fins (arm blades). Yes the VF-22 has never been seen with a fastpack set on (one can only imagine!). If I'm not mistaken the VF-22 actually stores its gun pods in the bay doors; unlike the outside of the YF-21. I most likely will not be able to include that feature in the VF-22 conversion because there is quite a bit of anime magic involved for stowing the gun pods. I could modify the VF-22 bays for the feature, but then the bottom of the fighter mode will look quite awkward. What I can do (which is definitely not lineart or anime correct) is to include the slots for attaching the gunpods onto the VF-22 bay covers themselves. Kind of like the actual (non-fast packed) 21 doors. These slots will either go on the inner-side or the outer-side of the VF-22 bay doors. Hope this insight helps. Max
  8. Soon... really soon. Aside it's not the end of the week yet. Unless you're one of those who see Wednesday as the end of the week. XD
  9. eugimon... Thanks for the link. I got it bookmarked for future reference. Fly4victory... No actual production run amount atm. Hopefully it'll be more than just a handful.
  10. I'm going to try to get them close as possible to the color of the YF-21. More details for the production run will follow when I get the prototypes down. Looking for a good supplier for small strong magnets will eventually take more time and cost more.
  11. Thanks for the encouragement guys! klam1020: I believe I do... like four or five I think. They're in a box somewhere here in my room. I'll have to look for them.
  12. Started a thread for the YF-21/VF-22S conversion parts... http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...mp;#entry620705 Max
  13. Alright, I've said I will do it and I've already put the project in motion. I have the necessary supplies to start the prototypes and I'm going to put out the idea of my progress. I would like to hear a little about what fellow MWers think (no flaming please). For the face of the VF-22... I am going to make it an attachment once the YF-21 has been converted into battroid, one could just attach it on maybe via clips or magnet(s). The reason being is that there isn't much clearance for the existing face of the YF-21 as it folds under the top part of the fuselage/battroid hood while converting it from battroid to gerwalk/fighter mode. I could just an entire remolding of the actual faceplate, but the VF-22's face protrudes out just a hair more and I know it will still clip the bottom stem of the antenna. The canopy of the fighter will entirely replace the current one, so some disassembling will be required. The bay doors for the VF-22 will most probably be a fastpack attachment like the current ones for the YF-21. Due to the force/stress that the existing bay doors themselves (not the fastpack attachments) undergo I feel this would result in a longer life span for the custom VF-22 bay doors (less cracking, chipping, etc.). I am hoping to make them sit a bit more flush when attached to the YF-21. I will post up some progress pics sometime soon... Max ***EDIT*** I appreciate any time, thoughts or constructive criticism. XD
  14. XD. I knew it would be difficult to hide it from you guys. I'm going to start working on the prototypes and should hopefully have some progress pics by the end of next week the latest.
  15. Damn Kyp... good guess, but that's only 1/3 right for this project. -=X
  16. MY NEW 21 CUSTOM!!! LOL... jking. I'm actually working on my project for the 21. I'll update or create a new thread for it sometime soon. Hint: changing up some parts for the 21. If all goes well maybe colored recasts... XD
  17. Looks nice, but the legs on that review make them look pretty weird. Especially the upper knee lower thigh area. The legs overall look small... I just hope it's the camera angle. I may go with the 2nd production run. -=X
  18. Yes I agree with Valkyrie addict. The valk that's on the box is that of wm cheng's 1/72 YF-21 Hasegawa. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...f=23&t=1457 ***EDIT*** Nice photoshop effort. Makes it look real good. XD
  19. I agree. The narrow chest makes it look a bit feminine. ***EDIT*** h/e, the armored version does seem to bulk it up a bit and reminds me of gundam.
  20. Woah... The Revos for the 19, 21 and even the Regult are hot. ***EDIT*** I think they put a pin point barrier on the 21's tailfin on it's forearm as well for that battle scene.
