  1. nippon-yasan.com had the VF-4 for about $310. Last time I checked it was cheaper than at HLJ. If Yamato releases these on the 25th, doesn’t that mean online retailers will get it a few days later? Plus with all the vacation/holidays we’ll be lucky to have ours early January.
  2. I’m starting to accept the design. It still looks like a rubber suit, instead of metal armor made of plates. :/ Here’s hoping they add all the mechanical sound effects like in the original movie, or in Iron Man, to really sell the robotic aspect of his character better, and that the actor received some mime training to move more like a machine than a guy in a rubber suit. (It would be really sad if Iron Man turned out to be more robotic in look, design and sound, than the RoboCop reboot…) The one exposed hand just shouts “SHOOT HERE”. Also…
  3. Running at 30mph? Robo-Cycle? Rumors of transforming parts? A “human” robocop? I think this is the Inspector Gadget movie we’ve all been waiting for!! The more I hear about this movie, the less it sounds like "Robocop" and more like Iron Man (suit) meets Inspector Gadet (features), crossed with Judge Dredd (cycle). Here's hoping a proper trailer proves me wrong... :/
  4. Of all the fighters, Yamato only has these guys left: VF-2SS Valkyie II (unlikely) VF-2JA Icarus (unlikely) VF-3000 Crusader VF-5000 Star Mirage VF-9 Cutlass VF-14 Vampire It’s pretty obvious that the next VF will be the 5000, since Yamato is about to release the VF-19P Zola Patrol valk. That’s all the remaining fighters Yamato has left to do, I think. Other than that they covered pretty much everything (except for a VF-0D). Don’t care much for Sound Force, or a YF-19 V2.0, since the original still holds up extremely well. But since there is talk about renewals, here’s hoping the entire Macross Zero line gets redone, as it was Yamato’s first attempt at the “perfect transformation” 1/60 scale. Didn’t they change management around that time? Ever since then we’ve had one amazing valk after another.
  5. Thanks for the heads-up! I got my orders in. At the end of the ordering process, I clicked on the option to pay 2-3 weeks before release. :] Don't have to pay anything until 1 day before the item's release.
  6. Excellent find indeed! Has anyone ordered from them before? Are they good/reliable?
  7. Good thing I passed on all those impossible-to-get-overpriced-on-ebay Bandai releases! Bring on three VF-4’s! Webshops – WHY U NO OPEN PREORDER. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
  8. I hate to sound like a negative nancy, but seeing how we’ve been on Mars since 1976 with the Viking Program (which studied Mars for over 6 years!), why is this news? If NASA is serious about studying probable life in our solar system, where are the probes on Jupiter’s moon Europa, or Saturn’s moon Enceladus? :/ It's an honest question, which I have yet to see answered. In any case, hooray for doing something we’ve been doing for over 35 years, I guess. Here's to yet another Mars rover in 2047! *raises glass*
  9. Great news on the pricing! Definitely picking up 3 for sure now.
  10. As of right now according to the poll, Yamato would sell: 27 + (12*2) + (3*2) + 4 = over 61 valks just on MW alone. I’m picking up 3 regardless of paint scheme, and I’ve been saving up since January. This will be the holy grail of valks. Never before has a company made a transformable VF-4 figure, and have it look stunningly awesome in all three modes.
  11. I got up in the middle of the night only to miss the frenzy by half an hour, and from the looks of it I'll be spending over $300 on these on eBay. No more. Long-story short: Any company which produces such limited quantities despite massive demand has officially lost my business. They know darn well their VF25, 27, 29, and now 171 will always sell like hotcakes, yet they continue to play these games. The sooner this incompetence ends, and Yamato takes over the Frontier license, the better.
  12. Unlike Bandai, Yamato actually cares about the Macross franchise, and its fans. I’m sure you’ll be able to score a VF-4 long after release.
  13. <Sarcasm> I’d just like to say thank you to Bandai for being a very profitable partner for all eBay scalpers out there, who are LOLing on their way to the banks right now. .</End Sarcasm> The demand for these figures is massive. The least they could have done was offer more than just 5 per online shop. More like 50 - and even then they'd still be all sold out. Going to have to dig deep in the wallet once these are up on eBay.. (edit: clarification)
  14. Say what you want about Yamato, at least you can actually purchase their items months after release. That alone is worth the price they ask for, rather than the jacked up ones we'll see on eBay for the VF-171.
  15. Since Yamato recently released the VF-19, and clearly does have the Frontier license according to the Frontier related stickers included in their latest releases (SMS/Galaxy/NUNS Logos, etc); I don’t see why Yamato can’t simply give us an SMS Isamu repaint. I'd sure pick one up, ASAP. ^^
  16. It’s... so... beautiful... D: Seriously though, I’m starting to like the VF-171 design more than the VF-25/27/29. Hurry up with those pre-orders, HLJ!
  17. Google Translate: June 2012 on sale About time! Seeing how Bandai releases a very limited quantity of their Macross figures, it's best to pre-order now, or spend up to +$500 on them at eBay.
  18. No to any and all remakes, but a big YES to a 3-5 Episode long OAV side-story which takes place during the first few episodes of the original SDF:Macross. Preferably a story about an original valkyrie or destroid squadron, which we have never seen before. Overall however, I much rather go forward, than backwards. Let’s see the VF-30, VF-40.
  19. I'm throwing money at the screen but nothing's happening! D: Unbelievably awesome that a company would release a paint-scheme for background valks which are hardly ever shown in the series. Could a UN Spacey Headquarters green valk be next?
  20. My sources tell me that the VF-4 will be over $9000, NOT including shipping. Seriously though, I don't expect it to be any more than what current valks are going for right now. Worst case scenario would mean $350 at HLJ. Here's an example where the web exclusive version is $50 more than the regular release: YF-19: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00187 YF-19 Weathered Web-Exclusive: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMTGK-08 Another example is a $30 difference: Destroid Defender: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT09026 Destroid Defender Weathered Web-Exclusive: http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00121 We got till December. More than enough time to save up for at least 1, hopefully.
  21. My old YF-21 and VF-22 are perfectly fine and some of the sturdiest and well made/looking figures in the Macross collection. No need for remakes. Wouldn't buy any if they were released. I rather see something new, such as the VF-2SS, VF-3000, VF-5000, VF-9, VF-14, etc..
  22. VF-0. This. Nostalgia alone can’t save the VF-1 for me anymore. After growing up with the design as my #1 favorite ever since I first saw and became inspired by SDF:Macross in the early 80’s, and owning multiple figures/toys and models of the VF-1, enough is enough. Time to move on. I rather see entirely new valks now. For that reason I chose the VF-0. It’s basically a very realistic version of a VF-1 in terms of design.
  23. It's not just Yamato. Pretty much all Valks are overpriced. For example, Bandai releases so few of their Macross figures, that the only place to get them (if you haven't pre-ordered in the first 24 hours) is eBay, and here are the current prices (without shipping!): YF-29 - $499. VF-27 - $350. VF-25 renewal - $299. Point being: $300 seems to be the new norm. Best thing to do is wait for a sale. :/ Last year was brutal in regards to new releases. Seeing how there are no new valks until the very end of the year, this may give us a chance to save up for the future. I'm already saving up for a few VF-4's, which should be out by the end of the year.
