  1. I'm going to be in the minority here - but I like the baby blue super packs on Alto. I'm going to get that. They look just right for the character. But what I'd really like is some Sheryl Nome tampoos or decals or something for the DX... Pete
  2. I will readily admit that I love Car Robots. I think it's one of the best toy lines out there, and the show was fine too. I like the Train team set, and yes- Ultra Magnus is great. The car brothers are a bit spindly, but at least they fit in with eachother. Fire Convoy is a fun toy. All of the Autobots have vehicles that are accurate depictions of their real life counterparts - or at least no LESS accurate than the original Diaclone based TFs. They lack die-cast metal, but they are still ace toys from an ace series. Probably the last TF series I actually enjoyed. Pete
  3. I think what the mods are asking for is that we leave them alone and self-moderate. They're not going to lay down a 100 page guideline about this - do you really want that to happen? I don't. My rule of thumb: If you judge that it could possibly be controversial - don't post it. If you're on the fense, email a mod and ask. I don't expect that they're going to give you precise criteria because honestly in a lot of cases it's all about judgement - and different people judge these things differently. Looking at the stuff posted here, I would think that the guidelines are pretty lax - and basically I have noticed that the mods allow us to post stuff that goes just as far as the Macross movies and TV series themselves - no further. That's also a good rule of thumb. Pete
  4. Still gotta build his bazooka and beam gun, but all in all...to paraphrase a popular saying..."He's Alive, Jim!" Really really impressed with the engineering on this guy. Excellent stuff. Version 2.0s rock! Pete
  5. Wierd. I'm the other way around. Things have been working top notch. No outages... Pete
  6. I might actually make the PG 00 Gundam my first PG kit. I like the design and wouldn't mind so much, although generally it's true that I'm focusing on MG mainly... Still - I need at least ONE Gundam in 1/60 scale to tease my valkyries... Pete
  7. DAMN! He's fine! I'd be all over tha-- oh wait.... I dunno. She seems just right to me Mainly the face and eyes that do it. If she's too skinny, we could beef her up with grilled hippo cow Besides, I'm not sure if she's too skinny - maybe it's the camera angle that does it? I still like her lots Pete
  8. Re: Cow Girls - I have never been one to be extremely specific in my drooling over these girls, but... DAMN! WHAT A FINE A$$ Sheryl has in that pic!! I'd be all over that Pete
  9. I got temp banned on a local Transformers forum. Here's the story in a nutshell: a)I have been making Transformers photo-comics with TF toys for years and posting them to this forum. b) Suddenly, the mods said my fanfiction was actually a crypto commercial for my store and spam c) So, I took obediently took down and erased all of my fanfiction on the forum. I also took down my episode-by-episode 30 page long review of Super Dimmensional Fortress Macross, just in case anybody thought that I had written it to brainwash people into buying Yamato products from me... d) I got banned for erasing all of my fanfiction and episode reviews on the forum because the mods said that I made a mess of the forum, and left entire topics with nothing in them but commentary from fans to non-existant comics and in general claimed that once something (like a photo-comic) was on the forum, it became community property or some such... e) thankfully, the whole issue was resolved and now I am no longer banned there, can still post comics and don't get accused of it being a crypto-commercial. I also got permanently banned from a second local Transformers forum. Here's that story in a nutshell: a) One day, I woke up to discover that the Polish Transformers fandom had split amongst itself, and that a group of fans had opened a new forum, cursing the admins on the old one. Us regular TF fans were told to "chose sides." Lots of us didn't want to, because we didn't visit these forums to have personal disputes, but to talk about Transformers. To its' credit, the new forum didn't force people to "chose sides" and had a "come one come all" policy. The old forum basically said "if you post over there, you can't post over here." Because I posted in both forums, I got banned on the old one. b) now the old one is a ghost-forum. Nobody posts there anymore. This is partially because half the members are banned, and partially because the other half are on the new forum. There are still a couple of die hards on the old one though... we'll see what comes of it. Other than that though, I've never been banned (knock on wood) on any other forum. At times, I have been given polite warnings by mods. 99% of the time I thought those warnings were bull crud 99% of the time I thought so because of my pride and not for any objective reasons 99% of the time I listened to the warning, did what the mod said and usually ended up moving to a different subject, avoiding the controversial issue like the plague, and therefore trying to respect the mod's wishes. We had this discussion before about moderating styles - and the question of "were you banned anywhere?" kind of falls close to that subject. In the end, Taks - I am not surprised Dr. Who forum banned you. On the other hand, Sometimes, in a fit of rage, when you don't want to be on a forum anymore and feel that something bad has happened to you there - it does happen that people write stuff like you wrote. I pretty much wrote the same thing on the TF forum I am now perma-banned on. And I'd probably write it again too, because the guys were jerks for the way the acted, behaived. But ultimately, this is the internet and just like not everybody on the street is made out to be your bossum buddy, so too not all forums have to feel just right to you, and make you feel at home. People go where they feel good and stay there. I do. Pete
  10. Will be getting that Bassara for sure. Happy that it's being made. Sad it's not 1/60 - but this is better than nothing... I guess...maybe... Pete
  11. Besides - who needs subs if it's music? The funnest thing in the world is to look up the Japanese text written in phonetic english and then just sing along! Pete
  12. Even right side up and looked at from straight above, there is kibble to be seen sticking out. Not to mention the nosecone gap. Pee-Yuu! Pete
  13. This needs to go on the front page of Macross World as the official website banner Pure poetry! Love it! Pete
  14. Also, notice that if you spell Crossover backwards, you get the word Revossorc. Now, if you google "Revossorc", you get ths following question: Pete well... ok... you don't... but...it would be cool
  15. With all due respect, but this is the best Nanase IMO: Pete (likes Sheryl in sports attire from above)
  16. Wow! That's an EXCELLENT idea for some fanart! Off to find my crayons! Pete
  17. Gubaba: D'oh! Stop rubbing it in!! Well I sat up all night yesterday watching Neon Genesis Evangelion so...um... there! Roy Fokker Wow. Nice Kaempfer Pete
  18. Nobody who likes the chunky doubts that the 1/60 v.2 from Yamato is "superior." But people love the chunkie not ONLY because it was a nostalgia piece, but for the original reason WHY it became a nostalgia piece - because back then, in the 80s - this was the height of transforming robot technology. This was the best it got. There were plenty of other crappy toys from the 80s that nobody cares about now and nobody is reissuing. Seen any reissue Robotix lately? Part of the reason for this is the same as why in 20 years nobody who has a brain will be clamoring to get the Masterpiece Veritechs from toynami - because those are "great" if judged by the standards of 1988 - but not so great if you judge by modern standards. The chunkies from Bandai are awesome not just because of what we remember as kids but - I think - because they represent a real step forward in toy making technology - a step towards more reaistic transformations, excellent poseability, sleek jet modes - it's all there. Heck.. Think about it looking at Transformers - the G1 seekers that Shoji Kawamorii designed have NO KIBBLE in their undercarriage. True - they are bricks that don't move more than their arms - but no kibble in jet mode. Later Transformers jets all suffered from more and more kibble. In fact, post G1, all we've had is kibble-tastic transforming jets, culminating in an F-22 with barrels under its' wings, a head sticking out of the afterburners or - in the ROTF version - a dead chicken's legs coming out below the tail fins... Part of how you judge whether a toy is meant to attain "legend" status is by looking at what is POSSIBLE to achieve at the time the toy is designed/produced. ROTF Devastator is EPIC FAIL because the technology exists to produce something amazing. Heck - even if you sacrifice individual robot modes - this SHOULD HAVE given the design team the scope to create a weathered, detailed, hydraulics and pistons filled Devastator. But no. ROTF Devastator is basically a jumbo sized happy meal Transformer. Not going to achieve legendary status. Toys which achieve the highest standards and use existing tech to the max and also push that tech forward on the other hand DO achieve lasting success. This is why "chunky" G1 diaclone based Transformers are still popular. This is why Bandai's chunky munky is still popular. It is nostalgia - yes - but remember that in order for something to fuel such powerful nostalgia it had to be a huge revolution in its' time. Pete
  19. I also think it's kind of lame to compare, for instance, Isamu and the others. Isamu never had to fly in an intergalactic war. From what I understood, he skimrished with rogue Zendradi from time to time. But the whole openning of Macross Plus, to my mind, was not proof perfect that Isamu was a genius fighter pilot, but rather proof perfect that rogue, disorganized Zendradi using battle armor from Space War I were no match for a good pilot behind the controls of a state of the art valkyrie (which at that time the VF-11B was). Now, by no means do I therefore mean to imply that Isamu is a BAD pilot, or to belittle his considerable skill. No. But I do suggest that the comparisson is a bit off. Max was a pilot who not only took on the battle pods that were directly attacking him, but had to worry about being shot down in the chaos and commotin of a huge space battle on more than one occassion. He also had to exhibit perfect versitality - not just piloting his VF primarily in fighter mode, nor even in combat situations. See - when we're talking about piloting a Valkyrie, we're not just talking about flying an airplane and shooting things down. We're also talking about piloting a Valkyrie in battroid mode - about perhaps taking small fragile humans into your hands, about being able to take the clothes off of a Zendradi officer and put them on your battroid... This is almost as good as being able to sing and play a guitar while flying in a combat situation and not shooting back at your enemy. Pete
  20. Poor Alto. And unwilling tansvestitie or crossdressing is not the same as gay either. In the majority of pics - Alto doesn't look happy... I think this is just fanartists taking advantage of his looks and the whole Alto-hime notion... Pete
  21. Party pooper! I'm also excited for this Virgin Road Pete
  22. Good news for people like me: Rumble, Frenzy, Overkill and Laserbeak are the next cassette Encore reissue set. And good. It'll be nice to have Rumble and Frenzy finally, and Overkill will go well with Slugfest. My...fourth?...Laserbeak is a bit less exciting but... whatever. Pete
  23. Grace has two kids and a swimming pool that needs cleaning? Should I really ask myself that question? Seriously though - the 'Grace as best pilot' line is kind of like the Ghost fighter from Macross Plus being the "best pilot" - when it's just a machine flying itself... it shouldn't get points for piloting skills IMO. Besides, Grace is just a tree Pete
  24. Why does Max have green hair? It should be blue. I'm not getting that unless Max has the right hair color Pete
  25. Impressive. Is that 1/55 the same thing that Bandai recently reissued? Pete
