I dunno... I don't like her face (it's somewhere in between "naive cute" and "I eat lots of donhuts for breakfast and WILL soon gain so much weight that even a Valkyrie won't be able to pick me up) and I just don't like the swim suit... Also - Roy seems to be holding her all wrong - she looks uncomfortable. I mean, I think that given the mass/weight distribution - the vast majority of her weight would be in her butt area and she'd be falling through his hands unless we take the "she's light as a feather in the hands of something capable of lifting/holding far more" - but that still doesn't mean she's comfortable since gravity would be pulling her butt down... She just doesn't look happy. Pete

I'm starting to wonder whether the initial post that started this thread wasn't a spur of the moment thing. It's been a couple of days since the topic was opened, the "issue" broached...and still no follow up, no examples, nothing concrete. The last complaint we had from one of the modelers was at least a) legitamite, b) concrete, c) got resolved real quickly in favor of the person making the complaint (turned out to be a misunderstanding that his thread was closed).... This topic - so far - only has mildly comical value... Pete

Yeah - I also think the mods should get a petition going to write to Kawamori and have him get rid of the shot of Minmey's butt in SDFM TV, erase the breast shot in DYRL?, have Sara wear a one piece bathing suit and robe when she goes swimming in Macross Zero, edit out Episode 04 "Miss Macross" of Macross Frontier, and also cut out the hotsprings scenes from Macross: Dynamite. Serious mode: I'm sorry if some of the pictures offended your senses; but considering that there was no nudity (unlike the actual Macross series and movies which have nudity), I think they were within the bounds set by the Macross franchise itself, and certainly no different than - say - the Valk Girl pictures in the Fan work section or many of the pictures from the Character Appreciation thread. I write this so you don't think I don't care about your view - I do. We were just having fun, and I personally always use Macross itself as a reference for the boundaries of good taste on the Macross forum. Pete

This discussion has made me imagine that perhaps Over-Technology is just POM technology - and the Zentradi; unable to manufacture their ships with POM plastic, came chasing after ASS-1 for its' POM technology, but since they couldn't tell the difference between plastics, they failed and decided to quit and listen to love songs from a sexy girl. That is really really good! You painted over Char's Zaku V.2 - or is there a seperate v.2 out in production colors? In any case big hat tip - the battle damage/worn out effects look great. I think the Sieg Zeon grafity is a bit over the top though - but whatever - maybe the pilot is a big Zeon fan I like the "dirt" effects too - it looks like a battle worn tank - but it's a robot - which is exactly how it should look. Yeah - I agree with Mog. Cobra Commander can't be "Hitler" because his oratory isn't the kind of oratory that sways mass crowds - it's the type of talk that sways individuals. He's not the kind of guy who gets up in front of hundreds of people and delivers a speech. He IS the kind of guy who convinces people - one by one - to join his cause. He also can't be "like Bin Laden" - with all due respect to Agent One. Why? Because terrorism is always just a method - it can be used by states as well as not state actors. In Bin Laden's case, it is used in pursuit of a twisted religious ideology (that has nothing to do with true Moslem religion - thus the twisted part) AND in Bin Laden's case there is the unfortunate fact that he was, just like the majority of Oceana's current Enemies, an Ally in the 1980s when we cheered him and his buddies on against the Soviets. Cobra is the type of organization that would NEVER buddy up with the government (at best it MIGHT bribe some government officials - but it would never get visits from the SecDef offering weapons and shaking hands...like another now demised former friend/current evil enemy of Oceana... Also - Cobra doesn't use Suicide Bombers and has no "go blow yourself up and go to heavan" policy. Nor does it - like Hitler - have a "build death camps and exterminate races we don't like" policy. It is more like Mog says - it is a uniquely American organization which eats off of resentment (often legitamite resentment) in the USA and turns it into anger and hatred for its' own benefit and the benefit of the leaders of Cobra. Of course all terrorist organizations do this to some extent - they feed off of legitamite grievences and exploit people who are weak and powerless ... But - I guess all this comes down to one thing: GI Joe SHOULD BE "A Real American Hero" - it should be about Americans fighting American bred terrorists within a uniquely American context. Making GI Joe "international" is like making an "international Western" People don't have to like GI Joe as a Real American Hero - they can say it's provincial and US-centric etc etc etc - but so what? Why can't there be one cartoon out of the huge amount of different animated stories - which is more American than others? I understand the need to give it global appeal - but really - if you look at what has mass appeal - then it is NOT watered down silly "global" stuff - instead - it is regional, unique stuff from different parts of the world with a unique culture that is interesting to everyone else because it's not something found in their backyard. Internationalizing GI Joe will turn out just as badly as Americanizing Macross into Robotech.... On the other hand - I do grant that GI Joe is actually a hell of a difficult. And yeah - Mog is right about CC. Just to be clear - I have always had a pretty shallow interest in GI Joe so unlike Transformers - my comments on this subject will probably have more holes in it than swiss cheese. Pete

Oh yeah - no Mylene...poor girl - always left out. Bad enough everybody has to be in Minmey's shadow - she's in Bassara's shadow all the time... but she has a PHENOMENAL singing voice -she just keeps getting crappy gigs. If I were Kawamori - I'd make the the next installment of Macross a continuation of 7 called Mylene's Revenge. Have it feature Mylene break from Fire Bomber (with all the stereotypical rock star drama this entails) and form her own band: the Pink Love Hearts. She really is a great singer - and under appreciated. At least in Macross Frontier, both Sheryl and Ranka got episodes and scenes to shine in. Mylene never really did - she just shined by the power of her song... Pete

What planet are you living on dude? I'm surprised the mods haven't been clamping down on us for half the stuff we pull on this board. There's a ton of jokes, a ton of fun and a TON of posts which the moderators could very easily classify as spam - but they don't because they seem to respect that in the "heat" of discussion - sometimes people make snippy one line comments and get side-tracked... Can you give some examples of where you see stiffness/boring stuff and dogs held on chains etc? Well - the question is about the best "songstress/songster" - not about who sings better or who has better songs (three completely different things) If it was just a matter of who sings better, it would be just down to sound/voice/vocals - that would probably go to Bassara who has quite a range. If it was about who had better songs, then maybe Ranka, who really did have the best songs... Although even then we'd need to define these terms better... But since it's just "best singer/songstress" then I figured I'd vote for Ranka because she's cuter than Bassara and I'd love to go on a date with her, whereas I'd love to go to Bassara's concert - but I wouldn't necessarily want to go drinking with him.
