  1. I honestly don't remember any of the GoBots cartoon, but I had a bunch of the toys when I was a kid. The deluxe size toys were kind of cool, but even though they had more diecast than a Transformer they just weren't as interesting. I still have my favorite deluxe GoBot, who's name is about as terrible as they come: Spay-C. Here's a pic of him with a couple other smaller GoBots that I still have. And yes, Spay-C was drafted by the Decepticons...
  2. Nice! I'd love to get those Tachikomas. Do blind packaged 'trading figures' do really well in Japan or what? I really despise the concept.
  3. Wow...now that is a movie to stay away from. Why the hell would anyone want to see a film set in the future that features a bunch of doorknobs who's asinine wisecracks and dialogue make them seem like time-travelers from the 1990's? Who is Hollywood making this crap for anyway? Remove the Fresh Prince, get a better director (Spike Jonze perhaps) and let Chris Cunningham do the design work...THEN I'll be interested.
  4. That is beautiful...in a sick and strange way.
  5. Wow, I would have thought that more people knew about Tanuki, or tanukis. Tanukis are real animals that are racoon-like, but it's the mythological Tanuki that so many Japanese storefronts have blessing their doorways. Tanuki typically has a large Buddha-like belly, enormous testicles and is almost always seen holding a bottle of sake. I was amazed when Takara did a Tanuki figure for the Beast Wars Neo line, complete with testicles (articulated, one embedded with a spark crystal), a bottle of sake and a box of take-out. The sake and box combine to form a gun that launches a missile. It's so silly that it was instantly one of my favorite Transformers. I have no idea where the weapon is, but here's a pic of my Tanuki-former. And no, I don't know why there is a clock in his tummy.
  6. And then there are weirdos like me who like Sideswipe better than Smokescreen.
  7. Not true. On Soundwave, Prime, Starscream and Sideswipe their feet are made of diecast. The second wave should have diecast in the same proportions. That said, I love these things. Not only do they look as cool as their G1 counterparts, but they are made with quality parts and don't have a 'cheap' feel to them (although it's hard for Bumblebee to meet that criteria). They look fantastic sitting around on Fort Max and Unicron too.
  8. Next is BT-03, which is Silverstreak. Hound is BT-04 which should be right on the heels of Silverstreak I would imagine. BT-03 should start showing up end of this month/beginning of April. Probably a few weeks later for the Hasbro versions.
  9. That's what I was thinking. I'd be fine with getting a 'new' Macross toy that way, although I'm sure Toynami would botch the QC somehow.
  10. They were going to make a super-posable Macross? They DID make one, sort of. Back when the first series of Robotech Superposeabes were out, it was announced that each figure in the second series would come with a piece to built a SDF-1 figure (Arm, leg, torso, etc). I think there are a couple pics out there of their SDF-1 figure, but I'm not sure where. Anyway, Toynami just kind of clammed up on the whole idea and I've heard nothing about it since. For the life of me I can't figure out why they wouldn't have just released the whole SDF-1 figure in the second series, it would have easily sold better than the rest of the figures.
  11. As bad as this sounds, my 'best case scenario' for the Macross toy would be if it were released by Toynami. I'm not a fan of Toynami, but the Macross is one of those things where I wouldn't demand excellence for the toy. I'd like to have a toy representaion of the Macross, but it doesn't have to be perfect like the valkyries do. I'm sure Toynami would use an existing toy anyway, and I'd be fine with that. Also, if Yamato were to release one I'd never be able to own it. I'm sure it would be gorgeous, but the price tag would probably make me crap myself. Whatever happened to Toynami's super-poseable figure of the Macross?
  12. By this point it seems to me that you should have known every last tiny detail about the toy. What exactly were you expecting that led you to be so let down? Just curious.
  13. Looking at those pics of the Impreza again, I thought about how completely f'ing rad it would be if it transformed just like cliffjumper & Bumblebee, but with better joints at the shoulders and hips. Please, Takara!
  14. Nice set! Too bad that the Bride figure is a Be@rbrick and not a Kubrick. I hope that Be@rbrick is a sign that a couple sets of Kill Bill Kubricks are coming, that would make my day.
  15. I only have the transforming Optimus Prime Choro-Q and to be honest it's my second favorite Prime toy next to the MPC Prime. The cars look nice, but I only buy car toys if they turn into robots. I hope some day Takara decides to do more transforming TF Choro-Qs, Optimus, Rodimus and Megs are just enough to whet my appetite.

Wow, there are some real tools at this place.
  17. Heh, I've been planning to stick the WST Megs in Prime's hand since I first saw it. Hopefully it will fit, and hopefully it's still a part of Wave 2. Recent pics of Wave 2 have been void of Megs, so I'm a little worried.

I'd like to think that the Millia figure, when it is eventually re-cast by the repro gurus, will be offered in three different versions: -Classic Flat -Rounded Rump -Super Ghetto Booty (with extra junk in the trunk!)

I wonder how many people here would drop $500 on this thing. I don't think anyone is 'stupid' for spending any amount of money on anything. Hell, go buy a $1000 turd for all I care, it's not my money (and it better not be my turd ). I just think it's unfortunate when a company alienates a rather large group of people when they really wouldn't have to. But then again if Yamato can completely sell out of these I guess it wouldn't make any difference to them.
  20. Any word yet on an official R1 release of the first Battle Royale?

    Q-Rau Review Now Up

Looks great, but I can't see myself getting inspired to pay more than $25 to $30 for it. Nothing about this thing justifies the price tag. ::EDIT:: After reading through this thread again and thinking about numorous previous threads, I've come to a conclusion. There are people here who are elitist. They embrace the whole concept of overpriced toys becuase it ensures that not everyone who wants to can join in on the fun. And then they get upset when the people who don't have money to throw away complain. I'm not trying to make any sort of point with this, it's just something I noticed. Every niche hobby has it's dark side I suppose.
  22. Yeah, wasn't G1 Jazz actually called 'Meister' in the the Takara line? Interesting indeed, but I still don't give three shits to Sunday WHAT the names are on these toys. As long as the toys are great they can give them names like Assbot 6000 for all I care.
