  1. Finally, it is here.

This is my first Valk and I have never transformed one before, so a bit nervous about it. It doesn't help that the tab and joints seem to be very stiff.

I know it will get better once I start (more exp and joints will start to loosen up a bit), but still hesitant to start.

Will watch example video a few more time just to be sure I am doing every step correctly.

my part to try and fix my leg will be here tomorrow. Will try to fix on sunday!! wish me luck. if not will return to Amazon and hope can snag another one even if have to pay more.

I am super curious about how the inside looks like. It will be nice if you have some photo to share once you get it open. :) Thanks.

  3. My resin kits.

Have not build any resin kit before, not sure which one will be the first. Will continue with plastic injection kit until I have more experience to tackle one of these.

I also have the 1/72 monster and UD VF-1j 1/48 G-system recast. Those two are my Mount Everest.

For those like me who ordered from Amazon after it was released did they charge your credit card yet?  Placed my order 3 days ago and no charges on my card yet.

Mine was charged a day after my order confirmation.

Placed order on 31st Dec, and see the item on my online credit card statement on the 1st.

From @tekering's post from Page 93:

    same same, but different.jpg

Looking at it, I'm thinking, is it ok to insert some magnets into it?

I have been messing with Fusion 360 this week and manage to build a model for a missing missile pod for my Bandai RG banshee.

Maybe I can build a model for the pylon if someone shares some detailed picture of Yamato's missile pylon, that will allow mounting the Hasegawa missile on this.

From the picture I can find, it looks reasonable for a 3D print.

Weird timing..back on Friday and then off for the weekend...maybe ami would still be on skeleton staff on the 4th ..

    fingers crossed...

Bandai does choose a bad time for this release. Most shops will be affected by staff going on holiday. Maybe this is not as prominent in Japan hence Bandai's choice of timing.

Thanks Jenius. Good to know the stand or gunpod doesn't totally hinder the head.
No rush on the review, which would be more than welcome by the fan-dom...

You guys made me pull the trigger on DHL...used my ami points and ended up as ~4900 yen plus for 2 valks by DHL, which was ~340 yen more than SAL.....

now only to wait till the 3rd when ami comes in!! gah.......

4900 yen for two is not a bad price for DHL. Hope you will get yours soon. Amazon estimated early next week for mine. Can't wait.

  8. A quick question for those that have this at hand, do you think the Hasegawa 1/48 missile set will work with some minor mod? From the photos that I can find of the missile set, it seems to be possible to add a small peg of the right size to the pylon.

this is probably the best over the counter price right now due to the discounted shipping.

at HLJ PO , price was 18,000 yen. + 4690 yen for ems shipping. (4550 yen fedex)

    Ok, thanks.

I pulled the trigger. I am accepting the mark up as a penalty tax for not PO. Thanks for the heads up. I've been refreshing the amazon, hlj, and 1999 sites nonstop for the slightest chance. Ultimately I eat the ~$40 and get my new toy in week! Happy New Year!

Same here, my new year gift to myself. :)

My first and only Macross toy.

Is this the best price to get this now?

Out of interest, how much does it cost for it to be shipped to US for those that manage to get the PO on HLJ or other site?

Do you mind sharing where I can get still order one with "good price"?

Edit: never mind, just found "From Japan".

Look at those beautifully deep panel lines that Yamato used to do. The Arcadia 1/60 panel lines are so shallow now, they are hardly noticeable from a distance and also harder to ink the panel lines. It's one of the things I prefer on the Bandai molds - more pronounced panel lines. It maybe less realistic, but because it is a scaled model, the deeper panel lines create a much more dynamic look when viewed from further away.

I am not sure which one I like better (yet), the shallow Arcadia or the deep Yamato/Bandai version. But some people can argue that such deep panel line is out of scale. When building a model, these panel lines are a bit too deep. I never have a Macross toy, so I don't really know which one is/looks better (at least for me).

There is speculation there will be a 2nd general release without the limited edition flight stand and slipcase.

I will keep hoping. I don't mind missing the flight stand and slipcase.

USD $170 for a nice valk is what I am looking for.

If anyone interested, I can take some picture. Only two main parts had been epoxy-ed, so almost as "new".

  16. Receive this today.

Man, seeing the kit in person is something different. More impressive then all the pictures I have seen so far.

The details is very good, much better than I expect.

Very happy that I bought this.
